Nikki Storm, formerly known as Nikki Cross, is opening up about how it felt to close the book on nearly a decade with WWE.
Storm signed with the company back in April 2016 and went on to play a string of memorable characters over the years, from her time in SAnitY, to her Nikki A.S.H. persona, to getting back to Nikki Cross, and eventually taking on the Abby the Witch character as part of the Wyatt Sicks. That run came to an end when WWE released the group in a wave of cuts following WrestleMania 42.
‘Difficult To Say Goodbye’
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Storm confirmed the release caught her off guard, describing it as unexpected. She said saying goodbye to a character always feels difficult for her, whether it was Sanity, Nikki A.S.H., Abby the Witch, or even Nikki Storm herself, whom she said goodbye to back in 2016 before originally joining WWE.
It was unexpected,” Storm said. “For every character I’ve played. Whether it be Sanity, whether it be Nikki A.S.H., even Nikki Storm when I said goodbye to her in 2016 before I joined WWE, and Abby the Witch, I always feel attached to the characters, so it’s always difficult to say goodbye.
Storm reflected fondly on her decade with the company, pointing to the chance to travel the world and the close friendships she built along the way. She acknowledged how significant that chapter of her life was, but was quick to pivot toward what’s ahead, saying she’s genuinely excited for whatever comes next in her career.
I’m so excited for my next chapter, and I’m so excited for what’s next for myself,” Storm said. “And I can’t wait to go out to the world and go out to the galaxy.
She’s already back in action following her release, competing for Over the Top Wrestling and PROGRESS. She and her husband, Big Damo, have also purchased both PROGRESS and DEFY Wrestling, putting her in position to shape her post-WWE career from both sides of the business.
