Rey Mysterio Eyes Historic Father-Daughter Moment In WWE

ByStaffProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Aalyah Mysterio has moved past tryouts and is now training full-time at the WWE Performance Center, according to her father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. He laid out the timeline during an appearance on Six Feet Under with The Undertaker.

Rey framed the development as the opening for something he believes would be a first in wrestling history: a father sharing the ring with both his son and his daughter.

“I would love to create some history,” Rey said. “To be able to have shared the ring with my son, become the first father and son tag team champions in WWE, and then later on feud against each other, and now with my daughter, it’s like, what can we do there? This is a historical moment.”

He pointed to wrestling’s family legacies while arguing this scenario would stand apart.

“We’ve had so many dynasties of families in wrestling, the Von Erichs, the Guerreros in Mexico, the Wagners, the Brazos, but I don’t know if there’s ever been a father wrestler that has been able to share the ring with their son and their daughter at the same time in the same match,” Rey said.

Aalyah’s Training Timeline

Rey said Aalyah, who graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in human biology in July, first stepped into the ring in October, returned in February, and began establishing herself at the Performance Center as of May. She completed multiple two-week tryouts before committing fully.

“She did two weeks, and she really loved it. I said, okay, I wasn’t expecting that,” Rey said.

The full-time commitment marks a turn for Aalyah, who had previously prioritized her education over a wrestling career. Rey first revealed she had trained and enjoyed it after years of her considering the possibility.

As with his son Dominik, Rey said he never steered his daughter toward the business. “The cool thing is, I’ve never pushed the sport down their throat, it’s all came out of them like they wanted to be a part of this,” he said. “If you would have told me your kids are gonna grow up and become wrestlers, both of them, I think you’re wrong.”

WWE has not officially listed Aalyah as an active in-ring roster member, and no televised or live-event match has been announced.
