Gzim Selmani says an unprofessional incident led to his WWE release.
The former WWE star known to fans as Rezar of Authors of Pain recently spoke to Ariel Helwani for a new interview. Among other things, he told his side of the story regarding his WWE release.
The 31-year-old was asked about the rumors of conflict with The Wyatt Sicks leading to their WWE exit. Rezar did not name anyone in particular but claimed that someone acted unprofessionally during their in-ring encounter:
Yeah, there was an incident, very unprofessional from one of those guys. I don’t know their names. You know, I don’t want to go into it too deeply, but there was an incident at one of the holiday tours that we did.
And yeah, somebody tried to switch up the match during the match. And, you know, that’s just a no-go for me, especially if you’ve just been in the company for a little bit and we were already there for a long time. You know, you don’t do that. And, uh, yeah, I just had to let somebody know, and that was the end of it.
Don't Change It During The Match: Rezar
AOP, as part of the Final Testament faction, faced The Wyatt Sicks, consisting of Dexter Lumis, Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy & Nikki Cross in 4 matches during the 2024 post-Christmas Holiday tour. They had one more match with LWO on Main Event after this, before being released from their deals in February 2025.
When asked if it was someone trying to change the finish of the match mid-way, Rezar denied the notion. He explained that the argument originated from someone in the Wyatt Sicks refusing to take one of their moves during the match, leading to a backstage confrontation:
No. It was, uh, you know, certain moves that we did got you—some of the guys didn’t want to take it because they were, uh, yeah, we’re big guys. So if we lift you up and double spinebuster somebody 5 days, 5 nights in a row, then the 6th night, you know, somebody can complain, but don’t change it during the match.
Neither member of the AOP has competed in the wrestling ring since their WWE release. Though Rezar recently made his succesful Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut, defeating Daniel Curtin in a bout earlier this month.
