Ric Flair says he and Wendy Barlow are not resuming a romantic relationship. The two-time WWE Hall of Famer issued a follow-up statement on X on Monday clarifying where the pair actually stand after a weekend post about Barlow drew a day of criticism.
“Wendy And I Are Not Renewing A Relationship. We Are Renewing A 34 Year Friendship. She Has Her Own Residence And I Have Mine,” Flair wrote.
Flair said Barlow is coming to Tampa primarily to care for her parents, both in their 80s and in poor health. He added that she will keep traveling and working with people struggling in other countries, while he returns to public appearances and signings.
Flair Pushes Back On Critics
The clarification lands a day after Flair posted a courtside photo of the two with a caption declaring the reunion, writing that it was “Only A Matter Of Time Until You Came Running Back” and that Barlow had “Finally Figured Out There Is Only One Ric Flair And One James Bond.” That post climbed past two million views, with a large share of the replies criticizing how he described her.
“Please Don’t Turn Something Positive Into Something Negative. If That’s All You Have To Do, Find Something Better To Do,” Flair wrote in the follow-up, before closing with “Find Someone Else To Hate On! Wendy And I Are Good.”
Flair, 77, also credited Barlow’s family with caring for him through a stretch of illness he described as lasting two years. He said she reminds him whenever they speak that she will always be there if his health fails again.
The two first met in 1993 during Flair’s WCW run, where Barlow appeared on television as his French maid character Fifi. They held a wedding ceremony in Florida in September 2018 but were never legally married, separating in January 2022 before reconciling later that year. Flair announced a second split in September 2024.
