Rob Van Dam is not waiting for a phone call. The WWE Hall of Famer said on his podcast that he expects three or four more matches before the end of 2026, and nothing bigger than that.
Thank goodness that I don’t have anything because I don’t think anything’s coming my way. You know what I mean? I don’t expect it to.
He is at peace with a light schedule.
I very likely might have three, maybe four matches between now and the end of the year, going at the speed that I’m going now. I’m okay with that. Am I expecting a run to come along, like with one of the companies? No. Is it possible? Yes.
Van Dam explained why he does not set goals around titles anymore.
If I was like obsessed with, ‘I gotta be a tag team champion again,’ whatever my goal would be, if that’s something I got to do, I think I would be disappointed because I don’t think that’s probably going to happen. It could, but I don’t expect it to, and I just live in the now.
He missed close to a year after breaking both heels at MLW Battle Riot VII. He came back in February in Australia and worked Juggalo Championship Wrestling’s Strangle-Mania on April 17.
His last AEW appearance was an April 2024 Rampage taping, where he won a four-way over Isiah Kassidy, Komander and Lee Johnson. He wrestled on six AEW shows in total, including losses to Jack Perry and Swerve Strickland.
