Roman Reigns vs. The Rock is a match that has been talked about for more than a decade, but has never actually taken place despite the efforts of many. It came the closest to becoming a reality at WrestleMania 40, but the popularity of Cody Rhodes forced the Hollywood star to check himself and the company to change direction back to the American Nightmare's crowning as the new face of the company.
Still, there are many who believe that the match between the two cousins is still likely to take place. Among them is Lloyd Anoa’i, a cousin of the two mega stars. He expressed this opinion during a recent interview with PWMania, saying that it's not off the table:
I’d love to see it. That match would be a record-breaker. WWE teased it before and pivoted, which I thought was smart, but I don’t think it’s off the table. Even if The Rock isn’t wrestling full-time, he’ll be back in some capacity. The storylines in WWE always leave room for surprises.
Roman Reigns was last seen on WWE programming during the Survivor Series event. He hinted at renewing his rivalry with Cody Rhodes at the time after losing the WarGames match to The Vision.
Latest report suggests, however, that the company has made a recent pivot to the WrestleMania direction, and the rematch between the two arch rivals is now unlikely for the show of shows. You can check out more about it here.
