Roman Reigns’ Performance On WWE Raw Against Penta Praised As ‘Masterful’

William Regal watched Roman Reigns work a crowd that wanted nothing to do with him, and told the industry to take notes.

Reigns retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Penta in the main event of Monday’s Raw at Arena CDMX, the show’s first trip to Mexico City in 15 years. The building was entirely behind the challenger. Regal posted afterwards.

If any talent of any standard want to really up their quality of drawing in your audience then study in great detail Roman Reigns facials, reacting (I would say selling but selling is acting and this was in a different world of that) and body motion from last nights bout against Penta on Raw. Masterful.

The match gave him plenty to look at. Penta came out in a headdress to a hero’s welcome and spent the night hitting everything he had, including a Penta Driver, a Mexican Destroyer and a springboard version of it that drew a near fall. Reigns hurt his right arm on the Sacrifice early and built the rest of the match around it before finishing with a Superman Punch and a spear.

He also stopped mid-match to grab a microphone and demand that Mexico City acknowledge him, which did not soften the reaction.

The reign is now at 149 days. Reigns took the title from CM Punk at WrestleMania 42 in April.

Penta earned the shot by winning an eight-man tournament and came out of the loss in better shape than he went in. He closed the show from the stage, making clear he is not done with the title. LA Knight hit Reigns with a BFT after the bell.
