Former WWE star Sanga, real name Saurav Gurjar, is in judicial custody in India after police intercepted him at Mumbai airport on a Look Out Circular tied to a sexual exploitation complaint.
Gachibowli police inspector K. Saidulu told the Hindustan Times that immigration officials stopped Gurjar on the night of September 17, as he arrived from the Middle East. Officers brought him to Hyderabad on Saturday, and a magistrate remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody on Sunday.
The allegations are under investigation and have not been proven in court.
What the complaint alleges
A 29-year-old woman filed the complaint with Gachibowli police on August 15. She said the two connected on Instagram in 2021 and began a relationship that continued while she was living in the United States.
According to her complaint, Gurjar told her he was already married but “repeatedly promised to give me wife-like rights” and a future together. She alleged he persuaded her to leave her job in the US to start a business with him in India. She also alleged they lived together from October 2025 to March 2026 before he cut off contact.
Police registered the case under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. That section covers sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means, including a false promise of marriage.
Gurjar signed with WWE in January 2018 and spent most of his run in NXT before reuniting with Veer Mahaan as Indus Sher. The duo later aligned with Jinder Mahal and moved to Raw in the 2023 WWE Draft. Gurjar was among the WWE releases in April 2024, and he later became one of the former WWE stars who hit free agency that summer.
Outside the ring, he’s best known in India for playing Bhima in the TV series Mahabharat. In August, he announced a return to wrestling with Pro Wrestling Rebellion, the Indian promotion founded by former WWE talent Jeet Rama, and he was advertised for its debut arena show, Kranti.
