Stephanie Vaquer Injury Update: Not Expected to Miss Significant Time

January 6, 2026Jan 6, 2026|Mike Reichlin

Key Points

  • Stephanie Vaquer Injury Update: Vaquer is working through an ankle injury sustained during a championship defense but is not expected to take significant time off.
  • WWE's Approach to Injury: Despite the ankle injury, WWE does not plan to have Vaquer vacate the championship and may limit her in-ring action while she recovers.

WWE Women's World Champion Stephanie Vaquer is working through an ankle injury but is not expected to take any significant time off, according to PWInsider Elite's Mike Johnson.

Vaquer suffered the ankle injury during her Triple Threat championship defense on the January 5 episode of Raw against Raquel Rodriguez and Nikki Bella. She appeared on the show wearing a walking boot and cut an in-ring promo where she vowed the injury wouldn't stop her from continuing as champion.

"Stephanie Vaquer is a little banged up but not to the point she's expected to take any large amount of time off," Johnson reported.

The injury was further incorporated into storyline when Rodriguez attacked Vaquer twice during the broadcast, targeting the injured ankle. Despite the legitimate injury, WWE is not expected to have Vaquer vacate the championship.

The fact that Vaquer appeared in a walking boot rather than a full cast and was cleared to participate in physical segments is viewed as an encouraging sign. WWE may limit her in-ring action as she recovers while keeping the title on her heading into Royal Rumble on January 31.

Vaquer has held the Women's World Championship since defeating IYO SKY at Wrestlepalooza on September 20, 2025.
