“Thank you for retiring me.” Former WWE Champion Sends a Shocking Message to Bayley

ByNicholas WatsonProfessional Wrestling Journalist

A former WWE Champion possibly shocked Bayley with a recent message sent her way. She is none other than the former WWE NXT Women’s Champion, Indi Hartwell. The Australian star was a rising star in the developmental territory and looked to become a big star upon her main roster call-up in 2023.

However, she failed to replicate the same impact she had in NXT and was released by the company in November 2024. She recently shared a photo on Instagram Stories with Bayley for her birthday. However, she captioned the photo:

Thank you for retiring me.

While it seemed shocking for a statement, Indi Hartwell was basically referring to Bayley’s involvement in her final WWE match before getting released. It took place on October 25, 2024, tapings of Friday Night SmackDown, where Hartwell teamed up with Candice LeRae to square off against Bayley and her partner, Naomi. This marked her final televised match, following which she was released by the TKO-led company.

However, Indi Hatwell’s wrestling journey did not end. She jumped ship to WWE’s partner company, TNA Wrestling, and made her debut at their 2025 Rebellion event. Since then, she has become a top name in their Knockouts Division and continues to perform on a regular basis. As for Bayley, she is still part of the WWE roster as a team with Lyra Valkyria.

WWE star Bayley competed in the Queen of the Ring tournament

Following the WWE Clash in Italy Premium Live Event, Bayley had a chance to compete in the Fatal 4-Way opening round of the Queen of the Ring tournament. She squared off against Raquel Rodriguez, Jacy Jayne and Kiana James on RAW. Despite an excellent performance, The Role Model failed to win the match, as it was won by Rodriguez.

As the former WWE Women’s Champion continues to move forward as part of the RAW roster, we will have to wait and see what is next for her in the global juggernaut.
