The Miz turned a fairway shot into the highlight of the weekend at the 2026 American Century Championship, holing out during round two and celebrating like he had just won a title, all at Edgewood Tahoe.
Mike Mizanin watched the ball drop, lost it completely, then wheeled toward the gallery and cameras with a line built for the moment: “I told you I was good at golf!”
NBC Sports captured the reaction and pushed it across its channels, where it took off with wrestling and golf fans alike.
The clip fits the tone NBC has leaned into for its celebrity coverage, and Mizanin has become a fixture of that broadcast. He played the par-3 17th alongside George Kittle and Baker Mayfield at last year’s event, a group Kira K. Dixon summed up as leading the field in “Strokes Gained: Fun.”
The context makes the shot land harder. Mizanin has openly treated his golf game as a running joke, and his best finish at the tournament was 85th a year ago. A clean hole out, on camera, in front of a live gallery, is exactly the kind of swing that flips that narrative for a viewer scrolling past.
The American Century Championship runs July 8 through 12 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nevada, drawing a field of roughly 90 athletes and entertainers competing for a $750,000 purse. NBC and Peacock carry the coverage across the weekend.
