Val Venis went into his first match in three years thinking it would be his last, and came out of it saying he is not done.
The former WWE Intercontinental Champion came out of retirement to face Rico Gold at Independent Superstars of Pro Wrestling’s Legends of Wrestling Night on Thursday at the Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood, New Jersey. He made his entrance as “The Big Valbowski,” lost the match, and then stayed in the ring to address the crowd.
Venis closed by laying out what he described as the four principles that took him to the top of the business, talking about desire and perseverance and encouraging the crowd to stay committed to their goals whatever line of work they are in.
The match was Venis’ first since May 2023, when he lost to Danny Morrison, known to ECW fans as Danny Doring, at ISPW’s Rock N’ Wrestling event. He held the Intercontinental Championship twice during his WWE run and was a fixture of the Attitude Era.
