A new development for the WWE title picture.
Last week’s episode of SmackDown saw Nick Aldis revealing a tag team match for July 18 Saturday Night’s Main Event, announcing that Gunther and Sami Zayn will be teaming up to take on Cody Rhodes and the WWE Champion CM Punk in the main event of the show.
The Ring General, who was demanding to be included in the Rhodes vs. Punk SummerSlam match, ended up attacking the SmackDown General Manager over this decision.
WWE Title Stipulation
This week’s episode of the Blue Branded show then opened with Gunther complaining about the actions of Nick Aldis, when the interim GM Adam Pearce interrupted him.
Instead of reprimanding him for attacking Aldis, however, Pearce revealed that there was more to last week’s announcement. The Raw GM went on to announce that both Gunther and Sami Zayn will be added to the SummerSlam title match if they are able to win their SNME bout.
The story continued on the show with Cody Rhodes challenging Gunther to a singles match later in the night. The bout ended in DQ as Punk and Zayn joined the two for a big brawl to end the show.
