Lainey Reid secured the biggest win of her main roster career on this week’s SmackDown, pinning WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella after Fatal Influence robbed the Women’s Tag Team Champion of a near-certain submission victory.
The upset handed Brie’s first singles match defeat in more than eight years. She came out firing from the opening bell, taking control with a Lou Thesz Press and a series of mounted punches before following up with a tornado DDT and a missile dropkick. She then locked Reid in the LeBell Lock, leaving her opponent moments away from tapping out.
Before Reid could submit, Fallon Henley jumped onto the apron to distract the referee. Paige then intervened, pulling Henley to the floor. She sent Jacy Jayne crashing into the ring post. Henley responded by dropping Paige with a right hand at ringside. It forced Brie to release the hold and rush to help her tag team partner.
As Brie climbed back into the ring, Reid caught her by surprise with a running knee and scored the three-count.
A Costly Distraction For Brie And Paige
The loss marked Brie’s first singles defeat since making a comeback to WWE in 2026 and her first one-on-one contest in over eight years. While the outside interference heavily influenced the finish.
The result adds fuel to a growing rivalry. Brie and Paige captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship together earlier this year, a reign that has now put a target on their backs from Fatal Influence. You can read more on how Paige returned and won the tag titles with Brie Bella.
