WWE has shaken up the plans for WrestleMania 42.
The company had teased a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns at Survivor Series: WarGames this past November. The fans were left surprised, however, when Drew McIntyre ended up beating Rhodes for the WWE title on SmackDown this past week.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer provided an update on how this affects the standings for the Show of Shows. He claimed that the officials made some big changes recently. They revamped the plans for the Las Vegas PPV this past Wednesday, when they decided on the SmackDown title change.
The wrestling journalist could not provide solid details on the whole matter, but he suggested that the match between The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chief is unlikely now. As for the direction for Rhodes and the title, he speculated that we could see a triple threat between Cody, Drew, and Jacob Fatu in the coming times.
The Samoan Werewolf had been slated for a #1 contender's match for the WWE title before being written off TV last October. So it seems likely that he will be included in the title picture moving forward, especially after attacking both Cody and Drew upon his return last week.
Since the World Heavyweight title picture also looks to be locked with the story between CM Punk and Bron Breakker, the big question is where this leaves Roman Reigns.
