Brock Rechsteiner has not played an NFL regular season game yet, and WWE has already decided it wants him.
Fightful Select reports a WWE higher-up put the chances of Rechsteiner receiving an offer once his football career ends at 99.9 percent. The same source said his suspension is unlikely to change that, that WWE has been tracking him throughout his college career and heard only good things, and that he would be signed outright rather than asked to try out. The outlet reports Rechsteiner has told WWE he is interested.
The suspension came down on Thursday. The NFL banned the undrafted rookie receiver for the first six games of the 2026 season. The league’s transaction wire did not give a reason, though the Saints’ own website states it was for violating the NFL and NFLPA performance-enhancing substances policy.
He can still practise through training camp and play in preseason games. The ban begins when rosters are cut to 53 on August 30.
His odds were already long. Rechsteiner went undrafted, worked out with the Titans, then earned a contract on May 12 after a tryout at Saints rookie minicamp. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds and caught 36 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns in his final season at Jacksonville State. New Orleans returns Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele and spent draft picks on three more receivers, including first-rounder Jordyn Tyson.
The wrestling side is not a surprise. Rechsteiner is the son of Scott Steiner and the nephew of Rick Steiner, both WWE Hall of Famers as the Steiner Brothers. He said in May he intends to play football as long as he can and pursue wrestling afterwards.
