The Royal Rumble came close to becoming a two-night show. It is not happening yet, but the intent is there.
WrestleVotes Radio reports WWE seriously considered expanding the 2027 Royal Rumble into a two-night format, with some inside the company believing that would end up being the direction. As things stand, the expectation internally is that it stays a one-night event, and the outlet reports there is significant interest in eventually turning it into a multi-night destination show.
The report describes 2027 as potentially the last single-night Rumble.
The trend supports it. WrestleMania has run across two nights since 2020, and SummerSlam made the same move in 2025 and stuck with it this year in Minneapolis. Of WWE’s biggest annual shows, the Rumble and Survivor Series are what is left on one night.
The venue was confirmed on Tuesday. Dana White announced at a press conference in Glendale that the 40th Royal Rumble will be held at State Farm Stadium in February 2027, with no date attached yet. It is the first of seven TKO events heading to Arizona under a three-year agreement with the Arizona Sports and Events Alliance and Legends Global, covering WWE, UFC, PBR and Zuffa Boxing. TKO describes it as its first deal with a state-level organisation spanning all four brands.
Arizona has held the Rumble twice, at what is now the Mortgage Matchup Center in 2013 and Chase Field in 2019. State Farm Stadium last held a major WWE show at WrestleMania XXVI in 2010.
This year’s Rumble was in Riyadh, the first held outside North America. Roman Reigns won it.
