WWE’s global reach is set to expand even further in 2025 as the company intensifies its focus on international markets. Chris Legentil, WWE’s executive VP of talent relations and head of communications, shared insights this week on the Sports Business Journal Sports Media podcast, discussing WWE’s evolving approach to premium live events (PLEs) and its groundbreaking partnership with Netflix.
This year alone, we did more than half our (premium live events) outside the U.S.
A major component of this international strategy is WWE’s collaboration with Netflix, which will now host PLEs for fans outside the U.S. Legentil explained that the partnership will influence the selection of future event locations.
We’re going to be working with them [Netflix] hand-in-hand to select locations across the world where we can grow our audience and hopefully gain some subscribers for them.
In 2024, WWE staged eight main-roster PLEs outside the United States, with notable events in Germany, Scotland, France, Australia, Canada, and Saudi Arabia. The trend continues in 2025, with Elimination Chamber confirmed for March 1 in Toronto, Canada. Meanwhile, UK fans eagerly await news of a potential WrestleMania, following John Cena’s tease during Money in the Bank 2023.
