WWE paid for a hip replacement for Dionicio “Nicho” Castellanos, the original Psicosis.
Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE President Nick Khan made the decision. The procedure cost around $44,000.
Rey Mysterio led the effort, according to the report. Castellanos is under a merchandise legends deal with WWE.
Castellanos and Mysterio were longtime rivals. They faced each other many times in Mexico, ECW and WCW, and Castellanos lost his mask to Mysterio in Tijuana.
Castellanos held the WCW Cruiserweight Championship in 1999. He later worked for WWE in 2005 and 2006 as part of the Mexicools with Super Crazy and Juventud Guerrera.
He broke his right hip in a fall in February 2024 and needed surgery. A friend set up a GoFundMe to help with his recovery costs.
