Karmen Petrovic has cleared up how a long nap led to the internet briefly declaring her dead.
Speaking on No Holds Barred, Petrovic said the confusion followed a draining stretch of work. She competed at AAA’s Worlds Collide, then traveled to the Virginia Military Institute for a WWE recruiting event, and then returned for NXT TV. By the end of it she was exhausted and wanted nothing but rest.
She went to bed around 9:30 PM, early for a self-described night owl, and slept roughly ten hours. When she woke up, her phone was flooded with notifications and she learned that reports claiming she had died were circulating online.
It was just a crazy weekend. We had Worlds Collide, and then I had to go to VMI for the recruiting thing, and then we had NXT TV. So I was just like, ‘I’m going home. I need to sleep.’ So I went home, I think I went to bed at like 9:30, which is early for me because I’m a night owl. And I slept for like 10 hours.
Petrovic said she did a quick self-check and concluded she was alive and feeling fine. She called the whole episode very weird and joked that this is what happens when she sleeps for ten hours.
I woke up and my phone was just blowing up, and I’m like, ‘What the hell happened?’ And then I’m getting all these notifications, and apparently I died. So I’m like, ‘Okay, let me check myself.’”
“I’m like, ‘I’m pretty sure I’m alive.’ I’m like, ‘I feel fine.’ So it was just really weird. I was like, ‘Okay, I guess this is what happens when I sleep for 10 hours.’
There was no mystery behind it. She was tired, went to bed early, and woke up to an obituary she never expected to read about herself.
