WWE Unreal is back for its biggest season yet, and it lands today.
Netflix has released Season 3 of the behind-the-scenes docuseries on Tuesday, July 21, dropping all five 50-minute episodes at once. The season arrives just ahead of SummerSlam weekend, continuing the show’s pattern of timing releases around WWE’s marquee events.
WWE has shared a first look at the season premiere, offering the opening three minutes ahead of the full drop.
The official synopsis sets the emotional core: John Cena says goodbye, a fan favorite returns, and the next generation of Superstars rises to the occasion. The series again takes viewers inside the writers’ room as injuries, last-minute pivots, and career-defining decisions shape the company’s biggest season heading into WrestleMania 42.
Cena’s Goodbye Anchors the Season
The headline story is Cena’s farewell. Season 2 ended with his SummerSlam 2025 title program, and Season 3 covers the remainder of his retirement tour through his final match, a submission loss to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2025. Cena confirmed his involvement in the docuseries back in February.
One of the most talked-about moments is a message CM Punk shares with Cena during that final match. Netflix released a sneak peek focused on the two, capping off one of the most storied rivalries of the modern era.
Cena and Punk also reflect directly on the final chapter of their rivalry in a separate clip released ahead of the premiere.
A Stacked Cast
The “fan favorite returns” tease points to AJ Lee, who came out of retirement in September 2025 for her first match in over a decade and has confirmed her participation in the show.
Beyond Cena and Lee, the confirmed lineup includes Cody Rhodes, Liv Morgan, CM Punk, Trick Williams, Lash Legend, Stephanie Vaquer, Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch. Triple H and the creative team are once again featured throughout, offering the writers’-room perspective that has become the series’ signature.
Rollins has been open about his discomfort with the show. He appeared in Season 2 built around his fake-injury angle and Money in the Bank cash-in, but has said watching it makes him uneasy. That season also saw Becky Lynch reveal her current contract would be her last.
Season 3 is directed by Chris Weaver with Erik Powers as showrunner, produced by Omaha Productions, NFL Films, Skydance Sports, and WWE. When the season was first teased at the end of Season 2, and again on Raw, WWE positioned it as the biggest installment of the docuseries yet.
