WWE has set its sights on two blockbuster world championship matches for WrestleMania 42, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
The current plan calls for Cody Rhodes to defend against Roman Reigns in one title bout, while CM Punk is slated to challenge Bron Breakker for the other world championship.
Meltzer indicated that recent booking decisions have been designed to establish this WrestleMania direction.
Speaking about Punk’s recent pinfall loss, he explained the finish was intentional storytelling meant to set up the championship picture heading into the company’s biggest event.
With WrestleMania 42 still months away, plans could certainly change. However, both matches would deliver significant star power and compelling storylines for WWE’s marquee show.
