Drew Gulak Remains Cruiserweight Champion At WWE Extreme Rules

Drew Gulak holds onto the Cruiserweight Title in his latest title defense as champion.

As seen at Sunday’s (July 14, 2019) WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event, Gulak beat Tony Nese to retain the title.

Gulak beat Nese and Akira Tozawa to become the new champion at the Stomping Grounds show that aired on their streaming service from Tacoma, WA at the Tacoma Dome.

WWE set up this rematch back on the June 25th episode of 205 Live where Nese defeated Tozawa to earn a rematch against Gulak at Extreme Rules.

Nese became champion when he dethroned Buddy Murphy at WrestleMania 35 in April. This was an impressive win as Murphy had held the title since he was able to beat Cedric Alexander to win the title at WWE Super Show-Down pay-per-view event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia last November.

Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the SummerSlam pay-per-view event that takes place on Sunday, August 11, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario at the Scotiabank Arena.

What are your thoughts on Gulak retaining the Cruiserweight Title? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.
