Throughout her WWE career, Mandy Rose put countless opponents away with her \’Kiss The Rose\’ finisher; a running bicyle knee. On a recent edition of her Power Alphas podcast, Rose recalled how her finisher came together.
\”When I started to do my bicycle knee, I remember specifically Sarah Amato, she was the one that helped me with that because she was like \’I feel like you\’d have a good bicycle knee.\’ And I was like \’Yeah let\’s do it.\’\
Despite Rose\’s eagerness to add the move to the arsenal, she revealed that she had to seek permission to use the bicycle knee that others in WWE were using at the time.
\”In the beginning, it was \’Oh well let\’s ask a couple of people.\’ There was a few that did it, that it\’s okay to do and I remember doing it. I think I went up to Sheamus I remember a few people I went up to.\
Rose\’s situation demonstrates the respect-based nature of the wrestling business and how younger, newer stars often find themselves seeking permission and validation from veterans.
While Rose was granted permission by the powers that be, many are not so fortunate. Gabbi Tuft, who competed as Tyler Reks, has claimed that she was told to stop using the Burning Hammer, as it was deemed too similar to John Cena\’s Attitude Adjustment.
Rose was let go under controversial circumstances in late 2022 and has yet to compete since then. Though questions remain as to whether fans will ever see her back in a WWE ring, she won\’t have to ask permission to hit \’Kiss The Rose\’ should she return to competition.
