Roderick Strong Retains WWE NXT North American Title

Although the deck was stacked against him, Roderick Strong is still the WWE NXT North American Champion.

Strong successfully retained the title over Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic in a Triple Threat match on Wednesday’s episode of WWE NXT in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University on the USA Network.

WWE set up this Triple Threat match on last week’s episode when Lee and Dijakovic were working a Rubber Match. The match ended in a DQ when Strong hit Lee in the head with the title.

Strong was originally slated to defend his title against The Velveteen Dream but plans had to be changed.

It’s been reported that Dream is dealing with a real injury. WWE’s NXT injury report shows that he’s dealing with lumbar pain.

WWE wrote him off of television after The Undisputed Era attacked Dream in the backstage area.

NXT General Manager William Regal later revealed in a backstage interview that as a result of the assault, Dream was no longer be medically able to compete.

Strong beat Dream to become the NXT North American Champion back in September.

What are your thoughts on Roderick Strong retaining the NXT North American Title? Was this the right call by WWE officials?
