The Velveteen Dream Retains NXT North American Title

The Velveteen Dream is still the WWE NXT North American Champion.

He retained the title in the latest title defense against Tyler Breeze at Saturday’s (June 1, 2019) WWE NXT TakeOver: XXV event. As expected, they put on one heck of a match that delivered.

Two weeks ago on NXT TV, Breeze made his return to the yellow brand where he interrupted the NXT North American Champion to set up a program.

This led to Breeze challenging him for the title. Breeze made his return to NXT after Dominik Dijakovic was sidelined with an injury shortly after starting the feud with Dream on television.

This match marked Dream’s second title defense as NXT North American Champion on a TakeOver special.

Dream won the title from Johnny Gargano back on the January 30th episode of the weekly television show of the yellow brand. He’s only the fourth champion in the history of the strap.

The next pay-per-view event for the yellow brand that is titled, NXT TakeOver: Toronto, goes down on August 10, 2019 during SummerSlam weekend at the Scotiabank Arena.
