PROGRESS Wrestling has announced that NXT Superstar Nixon (Steffanie) Newell will be returning home to the United Kingdom as part of their Chapter 71 show ‘F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.P.R.O.G.R.E.S.S’
‘The Girl with the Shiniest Wizard’ will be challenging PROGRESS Women’s Champion Jinny in a bout for the prestigious title. This will be Jinny’s first defence of the belt since defeating the inaugural Champion Toni Storm and ending her nearly year long title reign by exactly a day.
Whilst Newell is still contracted to NXT this is an interesting development to the story surrounding PROGRESS and WWE’s business relationship. Several reports have indicated that the UK based promotion will be heading to the WWE Network imminently and stars from WWE’s NXT and 205 Live roster have been making sporadic appearances for PROGRESS over the past few months; the most recent being Kassius Ohno’s role as part of the Super Strong Style 16 tournament in Alexandra Palace this past month.
