Sting Comments On His Respect For Bret Hart

0

Bret “Hitman” Hart and Sting recently shared some complimentary comments about one another. The two worked together near the end of Hart’s career in WCW, wrestling a total of 32 matches with each other from 1998-99.

A user on Twitter recently posted a quote from Bret Hart’s old podcast in 2016 where the Hitman spoke about the respect he has for Sting. During the podcast, Hart was asked if there was anything he enjoyed about his time in WCW and Hart said the only good thing was being able to wrestle Sting.

“I really didn’t enjoy anything. If I had to sum up what one thing I did like I would probably say wrestling Sting,” Hart said. “Sting was a class guy, just a first-rate guy. Great guy to work with. Great guy to talk to. Great guy to hang out with. A real friend. No ego. Never saw any ounce of ego. Just a team player all the way and I always had a lot of respect for him.”

Sting then responded to the Twitter post that quoted Hart’s comments about him.

Hart and Sting wrestled against each other a lot in WCW. 20 of their 32 matches in WCW came on un-televised events, however. They wrestled 5 singles matches against one another on WCW programming.

  1. 10/5/98 WCW Nitro: Bret Hart (c) vs Sting – No Contest (US Title Match).
  2. 10/19/98 WCW Nitro: Bret Hart defeated Sting via DQ.
  3. Halloween Havoc 98: Bret Hart (c) defeated Sting (US Title Match)
  4. 10/18/99 WCW Nitro: Sting (c) defeated Bret Hart (WCW World Championship Match).
  5. Mayhem 99: Bret Hart defeated Sting (semi-final of a tournament to determine a new WCW World Champion).

Sting debuted in AEW earlier this month. Darby Allin and Sting appear to be forming some type of alliance.

AEW Signs Brodie Lee’s Son To Contract

0

Jon Huber’s son, Brodie (-1), has been signed to an official AEW contract. Since Brodie (-1) is only 8-years-old, the contract will not begin until he is old enough to start wrestling. This was revealed recently on Tony Schiavone’s “What Happened When” podcast.

“Knowing Brodie was very sick and it was the holidays and knowing it was going to be very difficult for him to ‘kick out,’ [AEW] brought little Brodie to TV and wrestling is his life,” Schiavone said. “They made him a member of the Dark Order, they put a mask on him, he came out with a kendo stick and beat up a lot of people.”

“They signed him to a contract, legitimately signed him to a contract,” Schiavone continued. “When he gets of age, he’ll be with AEW. They have taken care of him.”

As for why Brodie Huber is named Brodie (-1), the idea is that he’s too young to officially join the Dark Order and his father was “The Exalted One”. So -1 is sort of his Dark Order number, similar to how other members of the stable are numbered.

Schiavone continued to talk about Brodie (-1) and how he is a member of the AEW family.

“He follows guys around in the back and becomes part of us. He gets involved with the guys, sits in Gorilla position, comes out with the mask and does some crazy things. The roster loved Brodie and we are family.”

Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite will be a special tribute to Brodie Lee.

Tony Schiavone Opens Up About Brodie Lee’s Condition Before His Passing

0

AEW commentator Tony Schiavone talked about the untimely death of Brodie Lee on the latest episode of What Happened When podcast and opened up about the events before his passing.

Reports have revealed that the original plans were to keep the former TNT champion off TV for only a few weeks after his Dog Collar match with Cody Rhodes on the October 7 episode of Dynamite.

Talking about how the sudden decline in Lee’s health forced them to change plans, Schiavone revealed that Brodie was hospitalised the day after they interviewed him on the AEW Unrestricted podcast:

“Unfortunately, the AEW Uncensored podcast that we do, the one we did with Brodie, we did it the day before he got sick.

Then we heard he had been airlifted to the Mayo Clinic and Amanda, his wife, came and met with the entire group and told us how bad a shape he was in and please don’t say anything to anybody.”

Discussing how everyone at AEW kept his condition secret, Tony Schiavone said that everyone at the company did a good job and he then revealed how they all found out about Brodie Lee’s passing:

“I think everybody did a great job keeping it close to the vest as the old cliche goes. We all knew it didn’t look good but we were all hoping he would kick out.

The day that he passed away, we received an email that we were going to have a company wide zoom call in 30 minutes and I knew that if we were going to have a zoom call that quickly, something was bad.”

Tony Schiavone also opened up about the segment they filmed with Brodie Lee’s son at last week’s Dynamite tapings where he beat Kenny Omega for the AEW world title.

The AEW star revealed that the company actually signed Brodie Lee Jr. to a contract and said that he will join the company when he gets old enough.

Nick Aldis Provides Update On His Contractual Status With NWA

0

Nick Aldis has no plans to leave the National Wrestling Alliance any time soon. In fact, the reigning NWA World Champion recently extended his deal and will be under contract for at least another year.

Aldis recently appeared on Konnan’s Keepin’ It 100 podcast where he discussed the state of the NWA, the return of NWA Powerrr and more.

Regarding his status with the NWA, Aldis revealed that owner Billy Corgan has picked up the option in his contract to extend their deal for one more year.

“Billy picked up my option with the NWA so… Like I said, I had an option on my contract and Billy picked it up and like I said, I would not have opened up any discussions with anyone without talking to — This is ‘Keepin it 100,’ I just care about that paper.

That’s it and Billy’s been very loyal to me and I to him” said Nick Aldis, “And I truly believe in what we’re doing with the product and I wouldn’t walk away from it because we haven’t even scratched the surface of what we could accomplish.”

The NWA talents have been featured on the Primetime Live shows of the United Wrestling Network (UWN) in the absence of NWA Power but the current champion made it clear that it’s not an NWA product.

Nick Aldis also reiterated comments from the promotion’s Women’s Champion Serena Deeb and confirmed that their flagship show will be making a return sometime in 2021.

Jon Moxley On Vince McMahon’s Reaction To His WrestleMania 31 Spot With Brodie Lee

0

Former AEW Champion Jon Moxley recently had an interview with Sports Illustrated where he shared his memories of the late Brodie Lee.

Mox wrestled Lee many times in WWE when he was still known as Luke Harper and the two then locked horns again after the late star followed his friend’s footsteps and joined AEW.

Talking about the news of his demise, the former WWE champion claimed that it doesn’t feel real and it feels as if he is in a vivid dream:

“It doesn’t feel real,” said Moxley, on Sunday evening. “It feels like I’m in a very vivid dream and I’m waiting to snap out of it. My brain hasn’t accepted it yet. Right now, I’m completely f—— numb.”

Jon Moxley On His WrestleMania Spot With Brodie Lee

The former Dean Ambrose then talked about the many times he wrestled Brodie Lee and he especially recalled the one spot he did with the former TNT champion which even bugged Vince McMahon.

Jon recalled a spot from the WrestleMania 31 ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship and revealed how the boss reacted to it:

“We wanted to make the highlight reel, we figured the only way we could do that was if I nearly killed myself with a death-defying bump. So we devised this spot where he powerbombs me from the ring to the floor through a steel ladder, and that’s f—— sketchy.

It’s an extremely dangerous bump, going backward at a high angle. It was a gnarly bump. Vince [McMahon] bugged out. He thought I was dead, which meant it was a good f—— bump. “

The former WWE star continued by saying that he would have not trusted anybody else with the bump and he maintains the sentiment even to this day.

Apart from this, Jon Moxley also discussed how Brodie Lee was a family man who was very proud of being a husband and father. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Brodie Lee’s Wife Shares Final Text Conversation With AEW Star Before His Passing

0

Amanda Huber, the wife of the late pro wrestler Jon Huber aka Brodie Lee has shared her final text conversation with her husband before he passed away.

She made an emotional post on Instagram in which, Amanda shared pictures she “forgot existed” and explained how they reminded her of the life she had built with her husband.

Addressing the text conversation that took place in late October before Brodie Lee’s condition declined, Huber mentioned how she got angry looking at their text exchange because they had “so much planned.”

She also informed her late husband of the plans president Tony Khan has put together for the upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite to honour his memory.

Amanda thanked the fans for their kind words and stories that have been shared over the last few days as well. You can check out her post featuring the text conversation in the second slide below:

Former WWE and AEW star Brodie Lee passed away due to a lung ailment last week on December 26. Not many people were aware of his condition and so the news of his passing came as a shock for the wrestling world.

Various wrestling personalities and fans from around the world have come together to pay tribute to the late star since the news of his passing come out.

Brodie Lee Tributes Reportedly Taped Before Raw

0

Several wrestling personalities had called out WWE after this week’s Raw for only paying tribute to Brodie Lee through an opening graphic but it appears that it’s not all the company will be doing.

According to reports from PWInsider, WWE taped some tributes to the former champion prior to the airing of this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

While it’s not known where the company intends to use the footage, the report at least confirms that the tribute on Raw is not the only thing officials are planning.

The most likely destination for the tributes to be used would be in a Network special about the former WWE star but it’s something that hasn’t been confirmed.

Brodie Lee fka Luke Harper passed away due to a lung ailment on December 26 and reports that have since come out have revealed that he had been hospitalised for the last two month.

Lee had been written off AEW TV after his dog collar match with Cody Rhodes on October 7 episode of Dynamite, though at the time, the plans were to bring him back after a few weeks of absence.

However, he started facing difficulties in completing his routine workout during his hiatus at home and the former WWE star was rushed to the hospital towards the end of October, after his lungs stopped working.

Kane Says The Undertaker’s Retirement From WWE Was Bittersweet

0

WWE legend Kane appeared on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast this week, hosted by John Poz and Dr. Tom Prichard.

They spoke about a wide variety of topics, including Kane’s time in Smoky Mountain Wrestling, his Dr. Isaac Yankem dentist gimmick, working with Steve Austin, Pat Patterson, Brodie Lee and more.

Kane is forever linked to his greatest rival and (storyline) brother, The Undertaker. When asked his thoughts about The Undertaker’s Final Farewell at last month’s Survivor Series pay-per-view, Kane called it a “bittersweet” occasion.

“It’s bittersweet,” he began.. “I’m happy for Mark and the fact that not many folks get to retire on their own terms and leave the business the way they want to. So, I’m very happy about that. On a personal level, that’s great, but as a fan, it kind of stinks because it’s the Undertaker. He’s one of my favorites, not only because of our personal history but also just as a fan.”

The Undertaker’s Reign

The Undertaker’s 30 year reign spanned multiple eras of WWE history. It is truly amazing to look back at how things were back in 1990 and everything that transpired during The Undertaker’s career. Kane says he is easily the greatest wrestling character ever. Sometimes he was the #1 guy in the company, but he didn’t need to always be the top guy. When he wasn’t #1, he was “1A” – a special attraction that was in a class of his own.

Kane reflected, “Just carrying the company through all these cycles in wrestling, you look back and he came in and Hulkamania, then things went really down in the early 90s. When it comes back up, he’s there, and he’s been there ever since. [The Undertaker’s retirement] was just bittersweet.”

Kane on WWE ThunderDome

Kane also commented on WWE adapting to the coronavirus pandemic. He feels that the ThunderDome concept has been successful and executed very well.

“The pandemic – I think WWE has actually done the best out of the spectator sports of trying to have the feel of a live audience,” he said. “They really have done a good job with the ThunderDome concept. But nevertheless, certainly, we would’ve liked to have had 20,000 people there as opposed to 4,000 people watching on monitors. The whole thing was done very well.”

United States Champion Bobby Lashley said that Cedric and Shelton have proven their dominance and that there isn’t a man alive that can beat him for the US Title. MVP said he has invited a photographer and Hurt Business posed as 24/7 Champion R-Truth appeared behind them. Superstars chased him around before Riddle & Jeff Hardy interrupted.

Riddle said that Hurt Business is doing it all wrong and is spending too much money on champagne. Riddle suggested that they should get toasted and watch the Joe Rogan podcast. Jeff Hardy said that they need to rely on their faith to defeat MVP and Bobby Lashley later tonight.

Lashley beat Riddle down in the corner to start off the match. MVP tagged in and beat Riddle down some more before tagging Lashley back in. Hardy tagged in and connected with an elbow to the face. Hardy hit Whisper in the Wind and the “Hardy Bros” were in control as RAW went to a break.

Styles claimed that Miz cost him the WWE Championship last night at TLC. Miz got pissed off and shouted that the contract was everything and that nobody respects him. Miz added that maybe if he cashed in and won the WWE Championship maybe everyone respect him and he will take RAW to new heights.

Miz apologized to Styles and said he blew it. The Miz stated that he would like to give Styles an opportunity to costar in the next installment of The Marine. The Miz said he deserves the contract back because John Morrison was the one who gave the contract to the referee.

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre interrupted and said that he celebrated with Keith Lee and Sheamus after the match. McIntyre, Sheamus and Keith Lee then read “The Nightmare After TLC” poking fun at Styles and Miz for losing last night.

Epz2mD0XEAAL3jl?format=jpg&name=small

Orton claimed that he didn’t sleep last night because the voices in his head were gone. Randy laughed and said that the only sound he can hear is The Fiend gasping for air. Orton added that The Fiend is gone and he is the evil son of a bitch that took him out.

The lights went out and Alexa Bliss appeared on a swing set in the middle of the ring. Bliss said that The Fiend is home but if he ever leaves home he might come to Alexa’s Playground and it will be unlike anything you have seen before.

Charlotte & Asuka Defeated Evans & Royce

Charlotte Flair and Asuka battled Lacey Evans and Peyton Royce tonight. Asuka went for the Asuka Lock but Royce escaped. Shayna and Nia were shown watching the match backstage as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Asuka was still isolated in the ring and Evans hit her with an Elbow Drop.

Royce and Lacey started arguing and Asuka slowly made her way to the corner. Asuka connected with a German Suplex and finally was able to tag in Charlotte. Asuka took out Lacey outside the ring as Peyton rolled up Flair for a two count. Charlotte quickly locked in the Figure Four and bridged into the Figure Eight for the submission victory.

Sheamus Attacked Keith Lee

Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Keith Lee faced The Miz, John Morrison, and AJ Styles in a Holiday Street Fight in this week’s main event.

The Miz and Sheamus started off the action. Morrison hit Sheamus with a cheap shot and then Styles tagged in. Sheamus leveled Styles with a Clothesline and tagged in the WWE Champion.

Keith and McIntyre launched Morrison across the ring and then sent AJ to the outside. Sheamus and Keith Lee started arguing again and traded chops. McIntyre broke it up and said that they needed to get on the same page as RAW went to a commercial break.

Sheamus had Styles in a Headlock when RAW returned. AJ escaped and tagged in Morrison. Sheamus slammed Morrison to the canvas and made his way to the top rope. Morrison hopped up and shoved Sheamus through a table ringside. Back in the ring, Morrison went for the cover but the Celtic Warrior kicked out at two.

The Miz tagged in and stomped on Sheamus in the corner of the ring. The Miz planted Sheamus with a DDT for a two count. Sheamus connected with White Noise and tagged in McIntyre. Drew hurled Miz across the ring and planted Morrison with an Alabama Slam.

McIntyre went for the Future Shock DDT but Miz caught him with a kick to the knee. Drew shrugged it off and hit a Spinebuster and went for the cover but Styles broke it up. Keith Lee leveled Styles and turned around into an Enziguri from Morrison. AJ Styles brought a candy cane kendo stick and hit McIntyre in the knee.

Drew McIntyre brought Styles out of the ring and Powerbombed him through a table. Sheamus and Morrison beat the hell out of each other with kendo sticks as McIntyre set up for the Claymore. Sheamus tagged himself in and then Keith Lee did the same. Morrison escaped into Omos’ arms outside the ring but Omos slammed him through a table. Keith Lee then planted The Miz with the Spirit Bomb for the pinfall victory. After the match, Sheamus leveled Keith Lee with a Brogue Kick. McIntyre got in Sheamus’ face and shouted at him as RAW went off the air.

Author’s Opinion: WWE TLC was a very entertaining show and it was unfortunately followed up with a poor episode of RAW. Almost everything in the first two hours of this show fell flat. The most interesting part of the night was Bliss returning in the “Alexa’s Playground” segment.

Big Names Confirmed For WWE Raw Legends Night Episode Next Month

0

WWE is starting off 2021 with a big episode featuring some notable names.

WWE announced during Monday’s broadcast on the USA Network that a special edition of Raw will be called Raw Legends Night. It takes place on January 4th.

In the commercial that aired, it was hyped that Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Beth Phoenix, Torrie Wilson, Sgt. Slaughter, Kurt Angle, and many more would be appearing on the show.

WWE will likely load up the show with some notable matches.

Last week’s episode set the new record low for the all-time low viewership numbers and the USA Network is reportedly not happy about it.

The show averaged 1.526 million viewers with a 0.41 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic. Just one year ago, the show did 2.150 million. Quite the fall off granted the world is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and hasn’t had fans in attendance for months.

WWE thought they could turn things around with its ThunderDome setup back in August as they have virtual fans. That worked for a few weeks, but viewership has continued to decline.

The last time WWE brought back legends was for the Raw Reunion special in July 2019. That show averaged 3.093 million viewers, which was the best rating Raw did all year. The show featured an appearance by Steve Austin, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, John Cena and several more.

The preview reunion show was Raw 25 back on January 22nd, 2018 that drew 4.530 million viewers.

Jeff Hardy Thinks Match Between Willow & Bray Wyatt’s Fiend Would Be Magical

0

Jeff Hardy has previously talked about a possible match between his Willow character and Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend gimmick. Clearly, this is something that he’s interested in doing.

The former WWE Champion did so again, but in further detail, while speaking with the Digital Spy

“I think there’s something magical that can happen between Jeff Hardy and Bray Wyatt and The Fiend and Willow, my alter Nero that will come back to life.”

Hardy noted that he has this huge vision of a black wedding dress and Willow almost being a god that is a weird figure who doesn’t make any sense to anybody.

Jeff Hardy
Jeff Hardy

Hardy stated that perhaps the two characters can team up together then fight each other.

“It’s crazy, it’s very cinematic and I think there’s something very special that can happen between The Firefly Fun House and the Fly Light Zone and the imagination here at my property. I can’t wait. I can’t wait because it’s possible, man. it’s totally possible.”

The match is possible as Wyatt and Hardy are currently on Monday Night Raw. Of course, Hardy may have to wait a bit longer considering Randy Orton burned The Fiend at TLC.

The Young Bucks Share How Many WWE Contract Offers They’ve Turned Down

0

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) have reflected on how many times they were offered deals by WWE.

The AEW executives did so in a recent interview with Fightful. This is where they revealed that they were offered contracts from WWE “at least four or five times.”

In 2018, WWE attempted to sign the tag team due to their work from Ring of Honor and NJPW. In January 2019, they announced the launch of AEW.

Before the launch of AEW, they had their latest conversation with Triple H about joining the company. Matt Jackson started out by noting that Triple H is a great and charming dude who said all of the right things.

“We must have declined the offer, in the end, I don’t want to exaggerate, it had to have been at least four or five times, and by the end of every conversation he would have another call scheduled with me in two weeks and I would go, ‘How did he do that?’ What, I just told him no. We’d be laughing by the end of the conversation. The conversation would start with me saying we’re so sorry, we’re going to pass on this, thank you so much, and an hour later I’m talking about our next phone call in two weeks.”

Cody Rhodes & The Young Bucks

The Young Bucks noted that they were happy with how negotiations went with Triple H. Matt stated that Triple H is a magician and isn’t surprised why Triple H has the job.

“I have nothing but positive things to say about him. He’s very intelligent too. The things he said, the ideas he had. At times I told Nick, “man, maybe this is something we should at least consider.” There was a time when me, Nick, and Kenny, the three of us were all like “holy sh*t, I think we’re going to end up in WWE.”

Nick added that it was a very tough decision when they received offers from WWE and turned them down.

Drew McIntyre Joins Cameo, First Look at WWE Icons Series, Superstars

0

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has joined Cameo, the service that allows people to purchase personalized video messages by celebrities. He charges $400 per video. The Undertaker sold 30 Cameo videos for $1,000 a pop last month, so why not?

Both The Undertaker and Drew McIntyre’s Cameo accounts were sanctioned by WWE and promoted by the company’s official channels, so these are separate from WWE forcing talent to shut down their personal accounts with third-party series like Twitch and Cameo.

WWE Icons is a new documentary series coming to the WWE Network next month. The first episode will focus on the life and career of the late WWE legend Yokozuna.

WWE Icons premieres Sunday, January 31st immediately following WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. You can see a ‘first look’ of the series below:

Speaking of the WWE Network (and Yokozuna), the latest “classic content drop” includes 10 episodes of WWE Superstars. The shows originally aired from August through October of 1993 during the sumo champion’s first WWE Championship reign.

All Elite Wrestling will finish the year strong with three special holiday-themed editions of AEW Dynamite that extend into the first week of January.

The following is the AEW Dynamite holiday schedule:

  • December 23rd: AEW Holiday Bash
  • December 30th: AEW New Year’s Smash (Night 1)
  • January 6th: AEW New Year’s Smash (Night 2)

Wednesday’s Holiday Bash edition of AEW Dynamite will have a special start time. The show will begin immediately following the NBA game, around 10pm (Eastern).

As usual, it’s a stacked lineup.

AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash Preview

Young Bucks vs. The Acclaimed

The Acclaimed has received a lot of attention since recently joining AEW. The duo has already built a 7-1 record and are already the number 5 ranked tag team in the company. Max Caster and Anthony Bowens made their AEW Dynamite debuts last week. The Young Bucks were scouting them at ringside. After picking up a win, the Acclaimed challenged Nick and Matt Jackson to a match at Holiday Bash.

The Acclaimed has looked impressive, but they will be up against their toughest challenge to date against AEW’s world tag team champions, the Young Bucks. A win would cement the Acclaimed as an AEW tag team to reckon with.

Chris Jericho & MJF vs. Top Flight

Chris Jericho and MJF appear to be back on the same page after Jericho recently presented the Inner Circle with an ultimatum. The Dinner Debonair co-stars will have to be quick on their feet at AEW Holiday Bash when they face Top Flight. Jericho and Friedman know every trick in the book to get an edge on their opponents, but they will have to stay on their toes vs. Top Flight.

PAC vs. The Butcher

PAC returns to action against one of Eddie Kingston’s henchmen, The Butcher.

Dustin Rhodes vs. Evil Uno

“The Natural” Dustin Rhodes did not take kindly to the Dark Order attempting to recruit him two weeks ago on Dynamite. The 51-year-old legend gets a chance at revenge against Evil Uno.

Jurassic Express vs. Dark Order

Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt will square off vs. Colt Cabana, 5 and 10 of the Dark Order.

We will also see:

  • Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford will announce their wedding date.

As of this writing, AEW has not announced anything for AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, TNT Champion Darby Allin, Cody Rhodes or Team Taz.

AJ Styles Details Meeting With Vince McMahon About Twitch Ban

0

AJ Styles is one of many WWE Superstars who are impacted by the new 3rd party ban. Members of the WWE main roster are now not permitted to have accounts with some 3rd party providers, such as Twitch and Cameo.

During a discussion with Talk Sport, AJ Styles recently detailed a meeting he and some other members of the WWE roster had with Vince McMahon regarding this issue.

“Myself, Xavier Woods, and Sasha Banks had a sit-down meeting in Connecticut with Vince about this whole situation, and it was determined that it’s intellectual property, this is [points at his face],” Styles said. “We do well as far as the WWE, and if there’s an opportunity to pay back that money that, you know, we work hard for at different timesI, we probably should.”

He continued, “I was doing this long before the lockdown, before the Coronavirus I was streaming and doing my thing, so I was always doing it on my time off,” Styles continued. “I wasn’t happy about it, no one was, but it is what it is. I’ll handle it the way that I have to.”

Styles added that Vince McMahon is the captain of the ship and he is simply a team player.

“I’ll follow his lead as far as Vince is concerned,” he said. “Will it change, will something happen? They’re working it as we speak. Will I be happy with it? Probably not. The opportunity to stream in the future is wide-open.  I obviously have the equipment, I just don’t have the opportunity to do that right now.”

AJ Styles Statement On WWE Twitch Ban

Styles released a statement on WWE’s Twitch ban back in October as well.

“I want to thank you all for the great memories on Mixer and Twitch. I will cherish these memories and I love everyone of you that have made this possible and supported me. As many of you know, WWE is making some changes that involve streaming. We will see what the future holds in that regard.”

Bray Wyatt Reacts To The End Of WWE TLC

0

Last night at WWE TLC, Randy Orton lit the Fiend on fire to close the show. Different from previous WWE inferno matches, Wyatt did not just have one limb lit on fire, rather his entire body was engulfed in flames.

Wyatt took to Twitter following the conclusion of WWE TLC. He Tweeted out only a picture of a cocoon along with the words, “Thank You.”

Earlier in the day, Wyatt had Tweeted out something similar as well:

Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton Feud

WWE TLC was the 5th singles match between Orton and Wyatt on WWE programming. This does not include matches they have had on house shows, however.

  1. No Mercy 2016: Wyatt defeated Randy Orton
  2. WrestleMania 33: Randy Orton defeated Bray Wyatt (Orton won the WWE Championship)
  3. Payback 2017: House of Horrors Mach: Wyatt defeated Orton
  4. WWE RAW December 7th, 2020: The Fiend Bray Wyatt vs Orton went to a no-contest.
  5. WWE TLC 2020: Firefly Inferno Match: Randy Orton defeated The Fiend

Their all-time head-to-head series now sits at 2-2-1 for each competitor.

It is not clear what may be next for Bray Wyatt and the Fiend. Wyatt’s persona is a 2x Universal Champion (1x WWE Champion as the old Bray Wyatt). This Wednesday at the Slammy Awards, Wyatt has been nominated for Superstar of the Year.

Sasha Banks reacts after defending her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Carmela.

Drew McIntyre says he feels fortunate about leaving TLC as WWE Champion. He fended off AJ Styles and The Miz in a tables, ladders and chairs match. It was originally scheduled to be a singles match, but The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to make it a 3-way.

AJ and McIntyre started the climbing the ladder on opposite sides. Styles jabbed McIntyre in the knee but Drew shrugged it off and punched AJ in the face. Carmella went for the cover but Sasha was somehow able to kick out at the last moment. Carmella threw a tantrum and started smacking Sasha in the face. Carmella went for another Facebuster but Sasha countered into the Bank Statement for the submission victory. Sasha Banks is still the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Opinion: WWE TLC opened with two very good matches. I expected the WWE Championship match to be great but Carmella has definitely improved in the ring and delivered an entertaining match with Banks tonight.

Asuka took out Jax with the Hip Attack as Charlotte connected with the Natural Selection on Shayna for the pinfall victory. Charlotte and Asuka are the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Opinion: It is easy to joke about Charlotte returning and already becoming a champion but the division missed her and it is good to see her back.

Roman Reigns Retained The Universal Title

Roman Reigns defended the Universal Championship against Kevin Owens in a TLC match. Kevin Owens attacked Reigns and sent him into the corner of the ring. Owens connected with a Cannonball and followed it up with a Splash off the ring apron. Jey Uso tried to attack Owens but Kevin was ready for it.

Owens grabbed a steel chair and bashed it over Jey’s back. Kevin bashed Reigns with the chair before returning to Jey. Uso went for a Superkick but Kevin bashed him in the leg several times with the chair. Owens put Jey’s foot in the chair and stomped on it.

Kevin hit Jey with a few headbutts and followed it up with a Stunner. Kevin started climbing once again but Roman hit him with a low blow. Reigns then locked in the Guillotine choke on top of the ladder and Owens fell to the mat. Reigns grabbed the title to win the match and retain the Universal Championship.

Opinion: I thought this match was very well done. Owens just kept fighting but simply could not overcome the odds. It took relentless interference from Jey Uso and a low blow from Reigns to retain the title. This was a great feud and showed how low Reigns will go to remain at the top.

Orton Set The Fiend On Fire

The Fiend battled Randy Orton in the first ever Firefly Inferno match. The only way to win is to set your opponent on fire. The Fiend grabbed a pickaxe from under the ring but Orton dodged that as well. The Fiend launched Orton into the barricade and then grabbed a rocking chair.

The Fiend poured gasoline on the rocking chair and made a path leading up to it. The Fiend slammed Orton into the steel steps and then put him in the rocking chair. The Fiend pulled out a lighter but Orton was able to escape before the rocking chair went up in flames.

Orton hit The Fiend with an axehandle and then bashed the steel steps on his face. Orton tried to shove The Fiend’s face into the flames but he was able to esscape. Randy wrapped a steel chain around his fist but The Fiend planted him with a Uranage in the middle of the ring.

Randy planted The Fiend with a DDT off the ring apron but The Fiend popped up and locked in the Mandible Claw. Orton turned The Fiend around and shoved him into the flames. Orton rolled into the ring but The Fiend chased after him while on fire. Randy planted The Fiend with the RKO and then grabbed the can of gasoline. Orton poured the gasoline all over The Fiend in the middle of the ring. Randy grabbed a match and then lit The Fiend on fire to close the show.

Opinion: Orton and Wyatt have had some horrific matches in the past (House of Horrors, WrestleMania 33) but this one worked for me. It was gimmicky as hell and obviously pretaped but I was able to enjoy it for what it was. I’ll take someone getting lit on fire over worms projected onto the ring any day. Overall, WWE TLC was a very entertaining PPV with the WWE and Universal Championship matches being the best of the show.
