The Shield Celebrates After Raw Goes Off Air (Video)

11

For the surprise of many, the trio of Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins collectively known as the Shield reunited on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Roman had just defeated Finn Balor in a one on one match and as the Universal Champion was trying to get up on his feet after the bout, Braun Strowman entered the arena.

Braun laid out Reigns with a big boot and afterward, made his intentions of cashing in his Money In The Bank contract clear by handing out the briefcase to the referee.

However, before the bell rang, Ambrose and Rollins came out to the aid of Roman and the trio then went on to attack Strowman.

The segment ended with The Shield delivering a triple powerbomb to the former Wyatt Family member and then celebrating at the ringside with their signature Pose.

After the show went off air, WWE posted the following video where Shield is shown to continue their celebration as they make their way back to the stage and Braun Strowman is trying to recover from the attack:

No word yet on what we can expect from the Shield reunion or where this storyline will lead us but we’ll keep you posted.

11 Takeaways From WWE RAW (8/20)

45

The August 20th episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. It was the first episode of RAW following WWE SummerSlam 2018. Here are 11 takeaways from this week’s show:

Roman Reigns Challenged Finn Balor

Reigns Balor SummerSlam

Universal Champion Roman Reigns kicked off this weekends episode of RAW and made his way down to the ring. Reigns circled the ring before saying that he was a man of his word. He then boasted about defeating Brock Lesnar last night at SummerSlam to capture the Universal Championship.

The crowd responded with a very loud “you still suck!” chant. Reigns stated that he planned on defending the title tonight and he had one man in mind. Roman brought up Finn Balor winning the title two years ago at SummerSlam in Brooklyn but was forced to relinquish it due to injury.

Finn then came down to the ring and joined Roman. Balor accepted Roman’s challenge and vowed to take back his Universal Championship tonight. The two Superstars shook hands before Constable Corbin interrupted.

Corbin said that match is not going to happen tonight and brought up Balor coming down to the ring as The Demon. Corbin called it a cowardly act and a breach of contract. He then added that he was blinded by the lights and didn’t know the match even started.

Roman Reigns poked fun at Corbin for sucking last night at SummerSlam. Corbin responded by saying that the only reason Roman won the title was that Lesnar was too concerned with Strowman and lost focus.

RAW GM Kurt Angle interrupted and told Constable Corbin that he makes the matches on RAW. Angle then asked the crowd if they wanted to see the Universal Championship match between Roman and Balor and the crowd chanted “yes!”. Angle announced that will be the main event tonight and then said Corbin had a match against Bobby Lashley next on RAW.

Triple H RAW 8 20

WWE COO Triple H was on RAW tonight and came down to the ring at the start of the second hour of the show. Triple H will face The Undertaker for the last time ever at WWE Super Show-Down.

Triple H smirked as the Brooklyn crowd chanted “NXT!”. Triple H stated that NXT blew the roof off of this place Saturday night and that SummerSlam took it to another level. Triple H said that he is just like all of them, a fan at his core and that he will work until the day he dies to make sure this is here for everyone.

He said that this weekend made him want to be The Game again and brought up Vince McMahon calling him and asking him if he wanted to wrestle The Undertaker. Triple H said that he told Vince “no” because of the moment he shared following the Hell in a Cell match at WM 28, in which they posed with Shawn Michaels on the entrance ramp after the match. Triple H said that moment changed the three of them and they knew it was the end of an era.

Triple H said that he didn’t want to sound like a bitter veteran but their era was something special. The crowd chanted “you still got it!” and Triple H added that he will lace up his boots if The Undertaker will pick up his hat, put on his gloves and be The Phenom one more time. Triple H then said the era is back on October 6th and promoted the final match between The Undertaker and Triple H at WWE Super Show-Down.

Ronda Rousey Got Stephanie McMahon In The Arm Bar Again

Rousey RAW 8 20

RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey came down to the ring to celebrate her victory over Alexa Bliss last night at WWE SummerSlam.

The entire RAW women’s division surrounded the ring as Stephanie McMahon came down the entrance ramp. Alexa Bliss was shown with her arm in a sling as Stephanie got inside the ring. Stephanie said that she was proud of all these women’s and promoted the all women’s PPV entitled Evolution. Stephanie added that she was so proud of the RAW Women’s Championship match that took place last night at SummerSlam and then highlights of the match were shown.

Stephanie boasted that Rousey wouldn’t be in WWE if it weren’t for her and claimed that she was the reason that she was shining above the rest. Stephanie stated that she molded Rousey to be like her and referred to Ronda as her protege.

Ronda interrupted and made her way down to the ring. Stephanie extended her hand but Rousey ignored it and grabbed the microphone placed next to the RAW Women’s Championship. The crowd chanted Ronda’s name as she smiled in the ring and Stephanie claimed that in her ears she was hearing “Steph!”.

The Shield Reunited

Shield RAW 8 20

Roman Reigns defended his Universal Championship against Finn Balor in the main event of this week’s episode of RAW. Braun Strowman approached Balor backstage before the match and warned him that he will cash in his MITB contract tonight. Reigns started off the match in control and connected with a punch to Finn’s face that knocked him out the ring as RAW went to a commercial break.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/1031733527858036736

When RAW returned, Roman was still in control of the match and hit Finn with a knee to the ribs. Balor battled back with a Dropkick that sent Roman tumbling out of the ring. Finn went for a kick off the apron but Reigns blocked it and slammed Balor’s face into the ring apron for a near fall.

Reigns whipped Balor into the turnbuckle and followed it up with a big right hand to the face. Balor tripped up Roman and connected with a Double Stomp to his chest. Finn hit Roman with a chop and that pissed Reigns off. Roman threw Finn to the corner and hit him with 10 Clotheslines in a row.

Finn caught Roman with a Dropkick that sent Roman out of the ring. Balor then sprinted across the ring and flipped onto Roman on the outside. Finn brought Roman back into the ring and went for the cover but Roman kicked out at two as RAW went to a break.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/1031735687891099653

Roman was back in control when RAW returned from the break. Finn battled back with a few punches and followed it up with an overhead kick. Balor knocked Roman to the canvas and stomped on him as the crowd cheered him on. Balor went for the Slingblade but Roman countered into a roll-up for a two count.

Reigns followed it up with a Powerbomb for another near fall. Roman geared up and went for the Superman Punch but Finn blocked it with a kick to the midsection. Balor booted Reigns to the canvas and made his way up to the top rope. Balor hopped down as Reigns got up and planted him with a Slingblade.

Finn went for a Dropkick but Roman connected with a Superman Punch out of nowhere for a two count. Roman set up in the corner as Balor stumbled to his feet. Reigns went for the Spear but Balor countered into a roll-up for a two count. Reigns then hit the Superman Punch again and set up for the Spear but Braun Strowman’s music hit.

Strowman came down to the entrance ramp and Balor capitalized with a Slingblade. Balor went for the Coup de Grace but Roman rolled out of the way and hit the Spear for the pinfall victory. Braun Strowman then got inside the ring as Roman Reigns got up. Braun then booted Roman to the canvas and Strowman told the referee that he was cashing in.

The Shield’s theme just hit and Rollins & Ambrose returned and surrounded Strowman on opposite sides of the ring. Michael Cole pointed out that the bell has not rung yet and it is not an official match. The crowd chanted “holy sh*t!” as Strowman pushed Reigns to the corner of the ring.

Ambrose and Rollins then attacked Strowman from behind and Reigns Clotheslined Braun out of the ring. The Shield set up for a Powerbomb through the table but Braun kicked them away. Roman then hit Braun with a Spear and then the Shield Powerbombed Braun through the table.

Opinion: What an awesome ending to this week’s episode of RAW. Reigns and Balor put on a very entertaining match and The Shield reunion caught me by surprise. I was expecting Kevin Owens to attack Strowman but the Shield getting back together is far more interesting. In addition to The Shield getting back together, evil is now back in power on RAW. Stephanie McMahon forced Angle to take a vacation and appointed Baron Corbin as the RAW GM while Angle is away. It will be interesting to see where these storylines go as we build towards Hell in a Cell next month.

Paul Heyman: “I’m In The Brock Lesnar Business”

1

For as long as anyone can remember, Paul Heyman has always stood at the side of Brock Lesnar.

This past weekend Lesnar dropped his Universal Championship to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam. Now, Lesnar will prepare for a UFC heavyweight title opportunity against Daniel Cormier.

He’s expected to return to the UFC early next year. Lesnar’s advocate, Heyman, did an interview with Sports Illustrated over the weekend to promote SummerSlam. During the discussion, Heyman made a rather interesting comment.

The Brock Lesnar Business

Heyman claimed that he’s not in the business of WWE, professional wrestling or sports entertainment. Paul Heyman is in the Brock Lesnar business:

“I think there are a lot of people who would argue that I have not been in the WWE business, the pro wrestling business, the sports entertainment business, et al for quite some time, and that I’ve arrived at a place in my career where I am in the Brock Lesnar business. Please feel free to develop your own conspiracy theories based on that.

“Evolution is the DNA of a continued existence. Those who don’t evolve become the subject of a ‘Whatever Happened To’ story. I can only hope that I’m a very different person and performer, some would suggest the different person aspect is most important, but I digress, than I was a decade ago.

“And I hope to be a much different person and performer a decade from now as well. I’ve been blessed with a long enough career that I’ve been allowed to grow into this role..

“The concept? Keep a Brock Lesnar experience as a rare occurrence, so when it happens, it’s not only ‘Can’t miss’, it is ‘Must see!’, and hopefully, that takes us back to the WWE/UFC business philosophy of Brock Lesnar, which then translates into ‘Must pay!’

“Let’s keep in mind, whether it’s WWE, UFC, boxing, Major League Baseball, the NFL, NHL, NBA; it’s a business. And it’s a business of rights fees and box office.”

Erick Rowan Suffers Injury At WWE SummerSlam

8

Unfortunately, a new report has surfaced that has revealed Erick Rowan suffered an injury.

As seen at Sunday’s (August 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network, The New Day was able to beat The Bludgeon Brothers (Luke Harper & Rowan) in a SmackDown Tag Team Title match by DQ once Rowan hit the challengers with a mallet hammer that they carry down to the ring as part of their entrance.

Mike Johnson of PWinsider.com is reporting that Rowan suffered an arm injury while working the match. It was noted that Rowan was not backstage at Monday’s live event in Atlantic City but rather is getting the injury evaluated.

Although this has yet to be confirmed, it was mentioned in the report that the word going among WWE talents is that it might be a bicep injury.

With the DQ finish of their SummerSlam match, the original belief was that a rematch between the two teams will go down on an upcoming episode of SmackDown Live or even at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event that takes place on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas at the AT&T Center.

We hope to have more information on this situation and will pass it along once we learn more.

WWE RAW Results & Live Discussion (8/20)

620

The August 20th, 2018 edition of WWE RAW was the first episode after SummerSlam, and took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

– New WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns comes out to the ring to kick off the show. Reigns says he’s a man of his word, he conquered the beast, and he will be defending his Universal Title tonight. Reigns says the man he will defend against tonight is Finn Balor. Balor comes out to the ring next, and accepts the challenge with a handshake. Baron Corbin comes out to interrupt. Corbin steps in the ring with a mic and he takes issue with Balor competing as “the demon” last night, and says Balor breached his contract. Corbin gets in Reigns and Balor’s faces, and then Kurt Angle comes out to interrupt. Kurt says he makes the matches, not Corbin. Kurt says he doesn’t care what Corbin thinks, but he does care what Brooklyn things. Kurt asks the crowd if they’d like to see Balor challenge Reigns for the Title tonight, and the crowd cheers, so Angle books the match for our main event tonight. Kurt also books Corbin in a match tonight, and that match starts right now, against Bobby Lashley.

Bobby Lashley vs. Baron Corbin: Lashley starts off strong with a couple belly to back suplexes. Lashley follows up with a swinging neckbreaker, and then he takes Corbin into the corner for some more punishment. Lashley mounts Corbin for ten punches in the corner and then clotheslines him to the outside. Lashley throws Corbin back in the ring and he leaps up to the apron, but Corbin kicks Lashley back down to the floor. Corbin slams Lashley into the fan barricade and then takes things back in the ring. Lashley comes back with a clothesline and he looks for a vertical suplex, but Corbin spears him through the ropes and down to the floor. Corbin slides outside and clotheslines Lashley down on the ringside floor. Back in the ring, Corbin beats on Lashley in the corner and sends him into the ring post. Lashley dodges a shot and starts fighting back now. Lashley and Corbin exchange lariats and elbow strikes now until Lashley plants him with a spinebuster for a two count. Lashley tires to come off the top with a move, but Corbin catches him and hits the chokeslam backbreaker for a two count. Lashley gets back to his feet and after a short exchange he hits the spinebuster for the three count.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

– We see Kurt Angle backstage watching Lashley’s victory on a monitor. Paul Heyman then walks in to confront Angle and he asks for Brock Lesnar’s contractually obligated rematch for the Universal Title. Kurt says the contract doesn’t state when the rematch will be, so it’s up to Kurt’s discretion, and it will be a long long time before Brock ever gets his rematch. Heyman says that’s okay, because they want the rematch at Hell In A Cell. Angle says that would be a cold day in hell and to forget about it.

– Baron Corbin confronts Kurt Angle now and complains about being given matches without time to prepare — against The Demon and then against Lashley. Corbin says he’s tired of Kurt not giving him what he wants. Kurt says his job isn’t to do what he wants, his job to what’s best for the WWE Universe. Corbin says Stephanie is here tonight, and Corbin is going to go talk to her.

Sasha Banks, Bayley and Ember Moon vs. The Riott Squad: Sasha starts off strong against Ruby and then quickly tags in Bayley who continues the offense. Ember tags in and lays into Ruby with kicks. The aprons clear now until the babyfaces clear the Riott Squad from the ring and they follow up with suicide dives on them at ringside. Back in the ring, Sarah Logan drops Bayley and keeps her grounded. Ruby tags in and so does Sasha. Sasha cleans house and stuns Ruby with a boot to the face. Sasha takes Ruby in the corner and hits a double foot stomp and pins, but Mandy breaks up the pin. The aprons clear and after some confusion Ruby hits the Riott Kick for the three count.

Winners: The Riott Squad

– Up next: Triple H will address the WWE Universe

– We see some still shots from last night’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

– Triple H comes out to the ring and says he’ll work until he dies to make sure this all continues for the WWE Universe, which gets a pop from the crowd. Triple H then moves on to the subject of his history with The Undertaker, and he shows a shot on the big screen of himself, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania in 2012. Triple H says he couldn’t miss the opportunity to lace up his boots one more time and step in the ring with The Undertaker in Australia, and the crowd gives him a “you still got it” chant. Triple H says the excitement and goosebumps are coming back for the fans, because The Game is back.

Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler: Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre are both at ringside for this singles match. Ambrose starts off strong and lays into Ziggler with punches and chops before taking him down in a side headlock. Ziggler looks for a hip toss, but Dean blocks it and slams Ziggler down. Dean runs the ropes but Drew grabs his leg from ringside. Rollins runs around to hold back Ambrose and deal with McIntyre. The distraction leads to Ziggler dropkicking Ambrose from the apron down to the ringside floor. Back in the ring, Ziggler applies a sleeper to Ambrose until Ambrose finally breaks free. Ambrose comes back with a knee to the midsection and hen stomps a mud hole in Dolph in the corner. He tells Hawkins to start walking, and Elias says he will get his song out one way or another. – Stephanie McMahon is backstage in the trainer’s office getting her arm checked on with Baron Corbin and Alexa Bliss. Kurt Angle walks in to check on her, and Stephanie criticizes Kurt for not protecting her from Ronda. Kurt says he’s doing the best he can, but Stephanie doesn’t believe him. Stephanie says it’s been a year-and-a-half since Kurt became GM, and maybe Kurt needs time off and a vacation. Rusev On If He’s Frustrated With His Position In WWE

8

Many fans have been wondering if Rusev is frustrated with his position in WWE.

Although he has received a WWE Title shot recently, albeit an unsuccessful one, a lot of fans feel he is being underutilized. Rusev got himself over with the innovation of “Rusev Day.” The chant has ran rampant in the professional wrestling world.

In fact, chants of “Rusev Day” even rang out at non-WWE events. Fans even chant it randomly when they’re bored with what’s going on in the ring. Wrestling fans would very much like to see Rusev receive a bigger push on SmackDown Live.

Last night, he was on the SummerSlam Kickoff Show, teaming up with his wife Lana to take on Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega. Rusev and Lana were unsuccessful in picking up a win at “The Biggest Party Of The Summer.”

Prior to the event, Rusev did an interview with The Gorilla Position to talk about the show. During their conversation, Rusev was asked if he’s frustrated with his current situation in the WWE.

Is Rusev Frustrated?

“The Bulgarian Brute” said he can’t control the way he’s booked. Whether he’s the first match on the card, or the last, all he can control is his performance:

“I have no control over any of that,” Rusev said. “I’m there to perform to the best of my abilities and whether I’m first on the card or last, champion or not, I mean I’m just gonna be me and keep doing what I do best.

“Eventually, one day you know cream rises to the top. So you know I’m waiting… I’m waiting for the rise.”

Reby Hardy Comments On Matt Hardy Transitioning From Wrestler To Producer

0

Matt Hardy’s wife Reby was a guest on the Busted Open satellite radio show on Sirius XM as part of their SummerSlam weekend coverage. During the discussion, Reby spoke candidly about Matt Hardy’s in-ring career winding down and the possibility of Matt transitioning to an agent/producer role. As noted earlier, Matt Hardy was backstage at SummerSlam doing just that.

When asked about her husband’s condition, Reby Hardy revealed that Matt Hardy is going through a “transitional period” in his career and might not return to the ring.

“Matt is good,” she said. “Matt is right now going through a transitional period. He’s not really sure what he’s going to be doing. His contract is up in March, which I’m not sure many people are aware of. But there’s sort of a decision to be made at this point as to whether or not he should continue his in-ring career or if he should pursue something different, which he would totally be up for and would be excited to do, I feel like.”

She continued, “So, he’s kind of giving it a go right now backstage. He’s at Summerslam. He’s not on the card but he’s there. And we’re kind of going to see from here. It’s really a transitional time right now.

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, a co-host on Busted Open, told Reby that Matt can survive in the wrestling business without having to put his body through the rigors that come with being an in-ring competitor. Reby said she tells that to Matt all the time. She said wrestling is all Matt has known since he’s 16 years old. After 25 years in the wrestling business, she hopes Matt embraces this next chapter of his career as an agent/producer.

Finn Balor Hopes Brock Lesnar Stays In WWE

3

Finn Balor hopes Brock Lesnar stays in WWE after SummerSlam last night.

“The Demon King” returned to squash Baron Corbin in a Singles match at “The Biggest Party Of The Summer.” Prior to the event, Balor spoke to The Gorilla Position to talk about several professional wrestling topics.

Balor offered his thoughts on now-former WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. Although Lesnar dropped the Universal Title to Roman Reigns, Balor doesn’t want to see “The Beast” walk away from WWE. In fact, he hopes Brock Lesnar stays in WWE:

“When [Lesnar] comes out, it’s a different feel,” Balor said. “Everyone’s like, ‘oh no, what’s gonna happen? We don’t know what’s gonna happen.’ I love it, I love watching Brock. I’d love to get in the ring with Brock.

“He is an attraction and he’s been an attraction since day one. People tend to forget that, they’re like ‘oh he comes and goes,’ but Brock’s the real deal. He was New Japan champion, people forget that, you know he’s been doing it [in WWE] for years, NCAA — he’s the real deal man… UFC, duh how’d I forget that one?

“When Brock walks to the ring there’s something special there happening that night. Regardless of if it’s good or bad, people like it or don’t like it they’re all paying attention and that’s what we need — we need more of that in pro wrestling.”

With Lesnar’s loss at SummerSlam, he’s likely to return to the UFC and challenge Daniel Cormier for the heavyweight title. That could mean a long WWE layoff for “The Beast.” When asked if he wants Lesnar to return to WWE, here’s what Balor had to say:

“I hope so,” Balor said. “You never know. You know everyone said he’s out the door after WrestleMania, last SummerSlam he was going. This SummerSlam he’s going. People just make up stories in their head because it sells newspapers or clickbait or whatever.

“They just like to talk to hear themselves talk or make themselves feel like they have an opinion, but we’re all just guessing. Because it’s all media hype. Nobody knows until it actually happens… I don’t think [WWE] even knows.”

Discussion: What do you think about Balor hoping Lesnar stays in WWE? Let us know in the comments!

What Happened After SummerSlam Went Off-Air?

6

Last night’s SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) ended with a historic moment.

Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship in the main event. Prior to the match, Braun Strowman came out to the ring with a microphone. He said he would challenge the winner of the match after its conclusion with his Money In The Bank (MITB) briefcase.

At one point in the match, Lesnar sent Reigns crashing into Strowman outside. Lesnar proceeded to attack Strowman with an F5, the MITB briefcase and a steel chair. Once he got back into the ring, however, Reigns hit him with another Spear for the three count.

Reigns celebrated on the top rope as the show went off-air. After the show, Reigns continued to celebrate in front of fans at the Barclays Center. Strowman then stood up as Reigns left to the back.

He limped to the top of the entrance ramp and picked up his MITB briefcase, which Lesnar threw earlier. Strowman took one last look back at the crowd before heading back backstage.

It should be interesting to see how the storyline between Reigns, Lesnar and Strowman progresses on tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW.

Discussion: What did you think of last night’s SummerSlam PPV? How do you feel about Reigns winning the Universal Title? Sound off in the comments below!

Reason For Chant During SummerSlam Main Event, Lashley Congratulates Reigns

5

Reason For Chant During SummerSlam Main Event

Last night’s main event of SummerSlam crowned a new Universal Champion. Roman Reigns finally defeated Brock Lesnar to win the World Title. During the match, however, fans began chanting something rather interesting.

A chant of “a**hole” broke out while Lesnar was taking Reigns to Suplex City. It turns out, a SummerSlam security guard confiscated a beach ball that was brought out by some fans. WWE has had several issues with beach balls in the past and have really been cracking down on them at shows.

Another notable chant that broke out during the show was “TNA” during the WWE Championship match between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe.

Discussion: What do you think about WWE’s issues with beach balls? Should they be banned? Let us know in the comments!

Lashley Congratulates Reigns

As mentioned, Roman Reigns won the Universal Title in the main event of SummerSlam last night. In his fourth World Title match-up against Brock Lesnar, Reigns finally got his hand raised.

Reigns’ former rival and Universal Title hopeful, Bobby Lashley, took to Twitter to congratulate Reigns. Lashley gave Reigns props for “slaying The Beast”:

“Congrats Big Dog on slaying the beast and winning that .”

Ember Moon Discusses Her Journey To WWE, Making Her Main Roster Debut

0

Ember Moon has reflected on making her WWE main roster debut during a recent interview.

The former NXT Women’s Champion recently made an appearance on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia to talk about various topics including being called up after a successful run in NXT to make her debut on their flagship show, Monday Night RAW, on the April 9, 2018 episode, which was the night after after WrestleMania 34.

Main Roster Debut

Moon noted that she was in the first match on the show and was introduced by Nia Jax, who is a good friend. She stated that it’s one of the few times that she took a step outside and enjoyed something in the moment. She recalled telling herself that she is going to do this and once her music hit, the little kid inside of her was just jumping for joy.

“Teenage me that went through so much in middle school and high school. It was so amazing and to just know my grandfather who had always pushed me into following this dream when I had gotten older. It was great, it was like a sense of accomplishment, but never ever have I just sat there and just reveled in it for a moment.”

Not Being Signed After Third WWE Tryout

Moon also brought up how she participated in three WWE tryouts and after the third attempt, WWE didn’t have any interest in signing her. She stated that she got the news before school started which resulted in her taking a semester off because she was bummed about it.

“I remember getting that phone call and they said, ‘It’s a no.’ I said, ‘Is there anything I did wrong?’ ‘Nah, it’s just a no.’ and beforehand when I’ve gone to FCW, they were like, ‘Oh, you just don’t have a Diva look, you’re not a Diva. Yeah you’re cute, but look at them, look at you.’ It was a different time period and those girls were drop dead gorgeous, but at the same time I’m like, ‘Man if I would have gotten hired then, I wouldn’t be the person I am today”

She continued by stating that she wouldn’t be the athlete and the entertainer that she is today because of WWE turning her down three times. It made her fired up and have the mindset to make a name for herself on the indy scene to the point that she is going to make them want her.

Moon also talked about being bullied as a kid, her grandfather and much more. You can listen to the full episode here:

SmackDown Live Star Rumored To Turn Heel

17

A popular wrestler on SmackDown Live is expected to turn heel in the coming weeks.  SummerSlam wrapped up last night and we’ll see the aftermath on tonight’s Monday Night RAW and tomorrow’s SmackDown Live. One notable moment on the show was Becky Lynch turning heel. Lynch attacked Charlotte Flair after “The Queen” won their Triple Threat match with Carmella for the SmackDown Live Women’s Title.

With SummerSlam in the rear-view mirror, the build towards Hell In A Cell begins. It looks like another woman could be getting in on the SmackDown Live Women’s Title mix – as a heel. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, that there have been talks of turning Asuka heel. Meltzer even said that he thinks there was a photo going around showing a heel Asuka.

He also mentioned that Asuka has been in a tough spot for the past several months. Back in April she dropped her undefeated streak to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. She failed to capture the SmackDown Live Women’s Title. Asuka also suffered a pair of losses to Carmella. Since having her streak ended, Meltzer said the Japanese star has looked “terrible” because of her booking.

Perhaps Tuesday night Asuka could begin her transition into becoming a heel. It’s undoubtable that she needs some sort of shake-up since having lost her undefeated streak at WrestleMania to Charlotte Flair.

A heel turn worked nicely for Shinsuke Nakamura. He turned at WrestleMania 34 after losing his WWE Title opportunity to AJ Styles. In the following weeks Nakamura really hit new strides with his character.

Fans seem a lot more invested in the former New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) star as a heel. Hopefully the same response would occur for Asuka.

Discussion: What do you think of Asuka potentially turning heel? What do you think of Asuka’s booking since WrestleMania?

Hiromu Takahashi Vacates IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, Tournament Announced

2

Hiromu Takahashi has officially vacated the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. Takahashi won the title earlier this year after also winning the 2018 Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

He suffered a broken neck but is believed to be on track to return to the ring in 9-12 months. Takahashi has now vacated the title due to his injury.

IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship Tournament

NJPW has scheduled a 4-man single-elimination tournament to declare a new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. All 4 wrestlers have held the title on at least 1 occasion previously.

The tournament will begin on September 23rd from Beppu.

‘GLOW’ Officially Renewed for Season 3 on Netflix

0

The ‘Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling’ still have plenty of work to do in the ring after ‘GLOW’ was officially renewed for season 3 on Netflix.

The streaming giant announced the news on Monday after ‘GLOW’ received critical praise for both season one and season two.

Based loosely on the ‘Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling’ promotion from the 1980’s, the series on Netlix, which is one part comedy, one part drama, was expected to be renewed but the news didn’t come down the pipe until this week.

Since first arriving on Netflix last year, ‘GLOW’ has been praised by both critics and audiences alike.

In fact, ‘GLOW’ received a nomination for ‘Best Comedy’ for the 2018 Emmy Awards with Betty Gilpin — who portrays ‘Liberty Belle’ on the show — being nominated for best supporting actress in a comedy as well.

The third season of the show will move from Los Angeles to Las Vegas after the storyline on ‘GLOW’ season two ended with the promotion losing its television contract but then being picked up by a promoter looking to put on a live show in Sin City.

Of course there’s no word yet if ‘GLOW’ season 3 will actually be filmed in Las Vegas as most of the locations that would have been there in the 1980’s when the show takes place are no longer standing.

Production on ‘GLOW’ season 3 will pick up in late 2018 or early next year with a 2019 debut date on Netflix.

The Firing Squad To Challenge The Young Bucks in Long Beach, Confirm New Member

Bullet Club’s Firing Squad have recently been scheduled for two upcoming title matches in NJPW. Although NJPW President, Harold Meij, threatened the group with suspensions due to their repeated interference during the G1, the faction is once again back on the promotion’s tours for September.

Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa vs the Young Bucks

The biggest upcoming match for the faction will take place September 30th in Long Beach. Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa will challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight tag-team Championships at Fighting Spirit Unleashed. They will take on their rivals from Bullet Club Elite, the Young Bucks.

Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, and Taiji Ishimori Defend NEVER 6-Man Championships

The Firing Squad won the NEVER 6-Man tag-team Championships on the final day of the G1 Climax tour. They then threw the belts down in front of Harold Meij. Now, Meij has scheduled for the group to defend the titles on the September 15th show from Hiroshima.

The Firing Squad will defend their titles against Juice Robinson, David Finlay, and Ryusuke Taguchi.

Since their original attack following the G1 Special in San Francisco, the group has added a few wrestlers. The original names confirmed were Haku, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa but quickly it would be confirmed that Bad Luck Fale and HIKULEO were both aligned with the faction as well.

The group then added Taiji Ishimori on the final days of the G1 tour. They have now added Gino Gambino from Melbourne City Wrestling. The faction, Fale most notably, spend a lot of time on the continent. Fale has a dojo in New Zealand and has worked with Gambino often. Gambino frequently tags with Bullet Club members when they tour the territory.

Renee Young Shows Off Her New Tattoos

1

WWE broadcaster Renee Young is sporting a few new tattoos. Last week, Renee Young made history by becoming the first woman in history to call a full episode of Monday Night Raw. She got rave reviews for her performance, with many fans arguing she would make a much better fit for the position than Jonathan Coachman.

As you now, the WWE crew has been in New York City since late last week for SummerSlam weekend. After two huge back-to-back shows at the Barclays Center for NXT Takeover and SummerSlam, WWE returns to the venue for tonight’s RAW and Tuesday’s SmackDown Live.

On Monday, Renee Young revealed on Instagram that she spent several hours at Snow Tattoo in Tribeca getting some new ink. Visit SarahGaugler.com for more on ”

Christopher Daniels Talks ‘All In’ Match with Stephen Amell

0

Christopher Daniels will be facing TV star Stephen Amell at the All In PPV event on September 1st. The 47 year old veteran Daniels recently spoke to TV Insider regarding his upcoming bout and the success of All In.

When asked about the ticket sales Daniels stated that “The day that the tickets went on sale and sold out so quickly, I feel like we all took a step back and said, ‘Wow, that happened quicker than we expected.” Daniels also discussed the rise of popularity of Bullet Club and The Young Bucks/Cody Rhodes in particular. “I think everyone knew that with the excitement around the Bucks and Cody and the way things are going for them right now, I think they knew it would be successful. How quickly it happened was such a pleasant surprise. It was a good feeling to know the support is out there for these guys and what they want to have happen.”

When Daniels moved onto his opponent at All In he discussed how Stephen Amell will be looking to set the bar “a lot higher than people are going to expect.” He went on to say that “I’ve been reading a lot of social media of people’s expectations. I’m pretty sure we’re going to exceed anyone’s preconceived notions of what this match is going to be.”

Third Bout for Amell

This of course will not be the first time that Stephen Amell steps in a pro wrestling ring. The star of ‘Arrow’ first appeared in a bout at Summerslam 2015 alongside Neville against Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes (then Stardust). Amell also performed as part of the Bullet Club vs Flip Gordon, Scorpio Sky & The Addiction match in last November’s ROH Survival of The Fittest PPV.

  • 17:00 – WOS Wrestling: 539k (4.9% share)

Interestingly the number does appear to have held. Considering that we’ve now had three weeks of around 500k-550k it’s fair to say that the show has found it’s audience.

Competition from the Premier League

Many fans in the UK were expecting the number to fall for week 4. Last week saw the return of Premier League football/soccer and this week had a huge game in Chelsea vs Arsenal. It’s a good sign that WoS actually held up against a match that even ‘casual’ soccer fans go out of their way to watch. Many expected the number to completely bomb in this time slot as the 17:30 kickoff is a huge part of the Premier League’s schedule.

ITV also attempted to create an audience for WoS from 3pm. The broadcast of The Scorpion King at 15:15 as a lead-in was an attempt to bring extra viewers to WoS. Having a film featuring the biggest Superstar on the planet in The Rock is a good attempt to draw causal fans, however Scorpion King drew 609k viewers with a 7.2% share, so a good portion did leave before WoS even started.

Return of Will Ospreay

The return of Will Ospreay made a huge impact on the episode. Ospreay’s bout with Martin Kirby was head and shoulders above the rest of the series so far. Grado also appears to be moving into a more ‘mid-card’ position. The ICW star teamed with Davey Boy Smith Jr for the ongoing Tag Team Championship tournament.

Last night WWE presented their biggest event of the summer. As is often the case when the promotion is in the New York area, plenty of celebrities were backstage. Additionally, several wrestling personalities were backstage as well.

Who Was Backstage At Summerslam?

Shane McMahon hasn’t been seen on camera for several months but was backstage last night. Ric Flair was also on hand to witness his daughter, Charlotte Flair, win back the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Bayley and Sasha Banks were both backstage at Summerslam too. The other 2 members of the 4 Horsewomen of NXT were involved in the Smackdown Women’s Championship match.

David Arquette was everywhere around Summerslam this year and it’s assumed he was backstage at some point as well.

Teddy Hart was backstage. He wrestled for Joey Janela’s Lost in New York on Friday and was likely wrestling somewhere nearby on Saturday or Sunday as well. Additionally, it is being said that both Carmella and Charlotte’s ring-gear yesterday, which were both pink, were worn in honor of Jim Neidhart.

Comedian Jon Stewart was at Summerslam but did not continue his rivalry with Seth Rollins.

PW Insider is also reporting that Stokely Hathaway, a manager from EVOLVE, was also backstage.

Former UFC Middleweight Champion, Chris Weidman, was in attendance. He tweeted out the following:

– Alexa Bliss’ title reign was nice while it lasted. Ronda Rousey scored a decisive win at SummerSlam and is the new queen of Monday nights. Will Alexa dare seek revenge from the Baddest Woman on the Planet?

Braun Strowman Has New Target

Plans didn’t go accordingly for Braun Strowman at Sunday’s (August 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network as he thought he would be walking out of the arena as the new Universal Champion.

Prior to the Universal Title match between then-champion Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns that ended up serving as the main event, Strowman came out and stated that he would cash-in his Money in the Bank briefcase after this match. However, that would not take place as Lesnar took him out. Reigns closed the show by celebrating in the ring. Following the match, Strowman tweeted that he has a new target in mind to cash-in his MITB briefcase.

“Objective remains the same. New target acquired. I still have my contract and someone is gonna get these hands. #SummerSlam.”

WWE’s YouTube channel has released a new interview where Mike Rome talks with newly crowned WWE Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins about his big win over Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam with Dean Ambrose in his corner.

In the interview, Rollins noted that he wouldn’t be champion if it wasn’t for Dean Ambrose being in his corner and taking out Drew McIntyre.

Finn Balor Sums Up Demon Return With One Word

Former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor surprised fans in his match against Baron Corbin that ended up being a squash match once he made his entrance dressed as his “Demon” character that saw him hit all of his signature moves to pick up the win in quick fashion at SummerSlam. On Monday morning, Balor took to his official Twitter account where he would only use one word to describe the return of his alter ego by writing, “Freedom.”

Carmella Reacts To Title Loss

Sunday’s (August 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center on the WWE Network featured several title changes including the SmackDown Women’s Title as Carmella lost it to Charlotte Flair in a triple threat match that also had Becky Lynch compete in the match. Lynch would later turn heel by attacking Flair after the match.

This leads us to Carmella taking to Twitter to comment on the title loss by writing, “With friends like that… looks like @BeckyLynchWWE lost her best friend AND MY TITLE! #Unfair #SummerSlam.”

What were your thoughts on Balor bringing back the Demon? Should he dress up as the character more often? Sound off in the comment section.
