Video: Post-TLC Video Of HHH Being Stretchered Out, WWE.com On His Condition

38

After the attack by Roman Reigns at the conclusion of Sunday night’s WWE TLC pay-per-view in Boston, WWE is reporting that Triple H is being evaluated for injuries overnight.

WWE.com reported the following in addition to the above video of the medical staff helping Triple H to the back after the pay-per-view went off the air.

“BOSTON – Following Roman Reigns’ vicious attack on WWE COO Triple H at the WWE TLC pay-per-view, WWE.com has learned that The Game is being evaluated by WWE medical staff and will be observed overnight.”

Mauro Ranallo Comments On Becoming New Lead WWE SmackDown Announcer

0

As reported on Sunday night, WWE has hired well-known MMA, boxing and pro wrestling announcer Mauro Ranallo to become the new lead announcer for WWE SmackDown when the show moves to the USA Network in January.

Since the announcement has been made public, Ranallo spoke to Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole about his new gig.

“People have called me a pro wrestling announcer and I think at times they weren’t intending to be complimentary in calling me that,” Ranallo said. “But I’d always thank them for that because at the end of the day, I am a pro wrestling announcer in terms of my passion and enthusiasm and telling stories. I love to paint word pictures with the incredible warriors who step into the ring or the cage with boxing, kick boxing and even the New Japan [wrestling show] with Josh Barnett I did. … Everyone knows my quirky sense of humor, my shtick, and I can be a ham as a performer. WWE said they want me to be who I am with a little tweaking.”

While it isn’t the norm, WWE is reportedly allowing Ranallo to continue his role as the Showtime boxing and GLORY Kickboxing announcer. There is no word on who will be replacing Ranallo as the NJPW announcer on AXS TV.

Daniel Bryan Says WWE Should Ditch Part-Time Wrestlers In Favor Of Younger Talent

23

Daniel Bryan was in Asia last week to promote WWE across the continent. In an interview with Yahoo, Bryan commented on WWE bringing back part-time wrestlers for WrestleMania season, and why he feels younger wrestlers should be getting that TV time.

Here’s what the former WWE World Heavyweight champion had to say:

“Some wrestlers have long careers and wrestle long into their 40s. Sometimes young wrestlers get left off cards like WrestleMania because of old guys coming back,” Bryan said. “In my opinion, if they had brought back guys like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage back when The Rock and Stone Cold were starting out, The Rock would have never become The Rock, and Stone Cold would have never become Stone Cold.

“At WrestleMania, people still wanna see The Undertaker. This is kind of a balancing act,” Bryan continued. “Although we are bringing back part-time wrestlers like Brock Lesnar and older wrestlers, I would like to see more young guys in higher positions in the card.”

WWE Hires Mauro Ranallo As Lead SmackDown Announcer

21

This was unexpected.

Sports Illustrated’s “The Noise Report” broke tonight that Mauro Ranallo, the voice of Showtime boxing, Glory Kickboxing, and formerly NJPW on AXS TV, has been hired to be the lead SmackDown announcer when the show moves to USA Network on January 7th. He will continue to do his existing non-wrestling gigs, but he’ll be on the road for Raw, SmackDown, and pay-per-views. Ranallo sold SI that Michael Cole emailed him last month, he sent Cole his reel, Vince McMahon liked it, and they were off to the races.

“This was an opportunity I did not think I would get at this point of my career and I jumped on it,” Ranallo told SI. “I have been a lifelong fan of the product. Michael said that when Vince saw the Warren Buffet video [a John Landis-directed spoof of Buffet fighting Floyd Mayweather for a business conference], it seemed to cinch it. They believed I could sell the entertainment part.”

WWE TLC Kickoff Show

The WWE TLC Kickoff Show pre-show starts off with the panel, led by Renee Young, welcoming us inside the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.

They kick it to Tom Phillips for our social media lounge preview for tonight.

From there we go back to the panel where Renee Young starts running down some of the matches scheduled for tonight, as well as introducing some video packages.

After some more of the usual pre-show time-killing junk, we finally head to the ring for our first match.

WWE TLC Kickoff Show Match:
– Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch

Our Kickoff Show match this evening features two former NXT Divas. It’s Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch in one-on-one action.

Team B.A.D. comes out and they sing the 12 days of Christmas with custom lyrics. They should have done an edited version, the second one of them stalled for just a split second, the crowd — which is Sasha Banks’ hometown crowd that gave her an enormous pop coming out — completely turned on them. On second thought, they shouldn’t have done it at all.

With Becky Lynch out there, it doesn’t take long for JBL to reference Conor McGregor being the undisputed UFC Featherweight Champion, Finn Balor the NXT Champion and Sheamus the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

The action gets underway and within a minute or two, Sasha establishes offensive control and we head to a mid-match commercial. When we return, Banks almost gets Lynch in the Bank Statement, but doesn’t finish the job.

Lynch is now making her comeback, getting in an extended series of offense before it was cut short by “The Boss.” Lynch regains control of the match and nearly finishes the job with her finisher, but the Team B.A.D. members saw it coming and interfered, causing a distraction which set things up for Banks to get her in the Bank Statement. Lynch taps out. The crowd popped huge again when Banks got the submission and the pin.

Winner: Sasha Banks

Social Media Lounge: Alberto Del Rio

Backstage, Alberto Del Rio is with Tom Phillips in the social media lounge. Del Rio talks about the international talent in WWE being some of the best wrestlers in their respective countries. Phillips outright says Del Rio and Zeb Colter aren’t working together anymore. Del Rio talks about it being a mistake to trust Colter because he’s an American.

Backstage: League Of Nations

The Leaue Of Nations are shown backstage. Sheamus references his fellow Irishman Conor McGregor winning the UFC Featherweight Championship in just 13 seconds. The guys promise to make an impact tonight that will spread all over the world.

WWE TLC 2015 Pay-Per-View

The WWE TLC pay-per-view kicks off with the usual elaborate, slick video package to tell the story and hype some of the top matches scheduled for tonight.

From there, the pyro explodes at the top of the stage and Michael Cole welcomes us inside the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. for the final WWE pay-per-view event of 2015..

WWE World Tag-Team Champions
Triple-Threat Ladder Match
– The New Day (c) vs. The Lucha Dragons vs. The Usos

The TLC PPV kicks off in the ring with the triple-threat ladder match. The New Day make their way out to the ring to a rock star reception until they start dogging on Boston. They cut a promo in the ring mocking The Usos and just being themselves. The Lucha Dragons make their way out next, followed by The Usos.

Xavier Woods joins the pay-per-view commentary team for this one, as Big E. and Kofi Kingston will be representing The New Day in this one. The bell rings and the action in the ring begins as fast as Woods’ attempt to steal the scene on commentary. The Lucha Dragons hit a double moonsault off the top rope onto The New Day.

This leaves The Usos alone in the ring. They start to climb but are stopped. They knock their opposition out of the ring, throw ladders at them and hit their trademark splashes on the floor.

Woods asks to b excused on commentary as The New Day have one of The Usos seated and trapped behind a ladder with his back stuck in the corner. Woods yells out, “This is what happens to somebody when I’m on commentary” and does a big “baaahhhh-waaaahh” on the trombone. Gotta love it.

The Usos start to go crazy with the ladders on everyone in sight, and brutalizing their own bodies in the process. Woods is back on commentary. Sin Cara hits a big dive out to the floor. Woods corrects Jerry Lawler for accidetally calling him Kalisto instead of Sin Cara when recapping the dive spot.

The Lucha Dragons climb the ladders but Big E. grabs them like he’s bench pressing and shucks them off. The crowd dug the funny/impressive visual. The Usos hit the ring and start getting their comeback.

Woods quips that he’s a very intelligent man after pointing out that Kingston is a “veteran ladder match-haver.” He’s kinda killing it on commentary, folks. The Usos yell, “Let’s go!” to the crowd. Woods on commentary: “Let’s go? You’re not going anywhere. You’re go-ing to lose.” Killing it, folks.

Uso does a crazy splash off the top rope onto Big E. on the floor while Big E. had a ladder laying on top of him. Crazy. Kalisto goes to climb the ladder alone in the ring. Lawler calls him Sin Cara by mistake again. Woods catches it, and without mercy rips into Lawler for being wrong again. He remembers this match is no disqualification, so he drops his headset and breaks his trombone over Kalisto’s back. This allows Kingston to climb the ladder and pull down the titles. The New Day wins. Crazy match.

Winners and STILL WWE Tag-Team Champions: The New Day

Are The Prime Time Players Still Together?

15

Titus O’Neil’s angle with Stardust in recent weeks has left fans wondering whether The Prime Time Players are still a unit.

Last Monday on Raw, O’Neil once again interrupted Stardust’s ‘celestial, cinematic’ rant in the Star Room to urge “The Prince of Dark Matter” to get in touch with reality. Meanwhile, O’Neil’s longtime tag team partner, Darren Young, was in singles action against Bo Dallas in a match taped that night for the latest episode of WWE Superstars. During the contest, announcers Rich Brennan and Byron Saxton addressed the state of The Prime Time Players.

“I talked to Darren Young earlier today and asked him about the state of The Prime Time Players and he said, ‘You know, we’re still boys,'” Brennan said. “Titus’ O’Neil and Darren Young still have each other’s backs, but obviously are just trying to be the best, whether it’s individually or together.”

Saxton added, “For the better part of five years, Titus O’Neil and Darren Young have been best friends, they’ve been tag team partners. They understand each other and they understand the desires to succeed on an individual basis and they support each other.”

While O’Neil and Young appear to be heading in different directions, they have not officially broken up. On WWE Superstars, Young was introduced by ring announcer Lilian Garcia as one-half of The Prime Time Players. He also came out wearing a Prime Time Players T-Shirt to the team’s theme song.

Jim Ross Blog: Booking Reigns/Sheamus At TLC, Mysterio/Lucha Underground & More

1

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts on tonight’s WWE TLC pay-per-view, last night’s UFC 194 pay-per-view and a couple of other topics. Below are some of the highlights.

On his thoughts on the WWE Title being in a “fragile” state and what to do with Roman Reigns and Sheamus at WWE TLC tonight:

“The WWE Title is being rebuilt. It’s in a fragile state and needs continuity and stability. Does that mean Sheamus keeps it whereby he is then made to become much hotter in upcoming weeks or does WWE pull the trigger on this one and go with Reigns at TLC? It’s hard for Reigns to win, one would assume, with all of Sheamus’ cronies in the building or one could logically think.

The Authority and Reigns mutually embracing the WWE Title win on Monday’s RAW interests me and also allows Roman to get on a fresh roll leading into Wrestlemania Texas. Force feeding a ‘face to today’s fans has an obvious backlash affect of which Reigns is battling to overcome.

There are two ways to go and I’d say it’s most likely that the show ends with a modicum of heat and Sheamus retaining with some timely help.

If I were booking, I’d flip the switch to Reigns and give him the Authority rub beginning on Monday Night RAW while building him aggressively to April 3 at AT&T Stadium.”

On Rey Mysterio joining Lucha Underground:

“Happy for Rey Mysterio joining Lucha Underground and hopefully this lighter schedule will help Rey better cope with his lingering knee issues.”

On Daniel Bryan’s recent comments about his WWE career possibly being over:

“My take on the Daniel Bryan injury situation hasn’t changed on the little info that I know about DB’s physical status. I would not allow Bryan back in a WWE ring until WWE Dr. Joe Maroon clears him. Safety first.”

Bayley On If She Would Turn Heel, Fans Hating Eva Marie, Moving To Main Roster

6

NXT Women’s Champion Bayley recently spoke with DigitalSpy.com to promote the NXT TakeOver: London special next Wednesday. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On the reaction to Eva Marie at Full Sail University:

“I thought it was amazing… I love being in a ring with Eva Marie because of the crowd reaction she gets. It also helps me feed off of it. Even being in the ring with her is something really special. This may sound funny – I’ve never heard fans boo somebody as much as they boo her. To me it’s amazing because the fans really care about what’s going on in the ring.

“Whether they hate her, or they love me, or they just don’t want this match to happen, or they do want the match to happen, whatever it is they care about it. It’s an amazing feeling that a person can get the reaction like she does from all these fans. They hate her and it just makes our job so much more fun. At least for me – I don’t know how she feels!”

On making it to the main roster:

“I don’t know if the women’s title here is the key to the main roster, but I’m willing to be here as long as I possibly can and keep learning and keep getting better and just prepare more for when I do get the call for the main roster. I’m not in any rush or anything, but it seems like if I hold this title that I could possibly be up there one day. There are already two former NXT Women’s Champions [Paige and Charlotte] who are Divas Champions up there now, so we’ll see.”

On if she would turn heel:

“If it came down to it and it was something that I had to do and it was a pivotal point in my career and it would take me to that next level, I would have to do it because it’s for my career. I don’t know how the fans would react to it. That’s just another challenge in itself for me. If that time comes I’m excited to see where it goes and where it takes me.”

Sting Talks About Retirement, Possible WWE Hall Of Fame Induction & More

7

As noted, “The Icon” Sting recently appeared as a guest on Ric Flair’s “WOOOOO! Nation” podcast and revealed that he was injured during his WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view match against Seth Rollins and as a result, will need to undergo neck surgery.

In addition to breaking the news about his neck surgery, Sting also spoke about his legendary career and shared some stories with “The Nature Boy” about topics such as the first time he thought he was going to leave WCW for WWE during the time Jim Herd was in charge from 1988 through 1992.

“That was the first time I just about left and went to [WWE]. I hadn’t had any conversations with Vince [McMahon] at all, aside from a NATPE convention once, a few words here and there, and very friendly [and] all good. And when it came time for me to negotiate my contract with [WCW Executive Vice President] Jim Herd and he threw an offer out, and I said, ‘what? What?’ And I’m thinking Road Warrior money and Flair money, and I said, ‘I’m not going to do that.’ And he said, ‘well, what do you think?’ and so I threw a number out there and he just about gagged. And he said, ‘well, I see no precedent for that and Steve Avery, pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, he’s only making $100,000 a year.’ I said, ‘he’s going to make millions coming up here. This is his rookie year.’ And I’m not in my rookie year, by the way. And so, I’m standing firm on what I’m presenting here and he said, ‘well, alright’ and I thought that was it, so I was prepared to, whether Vince would take me or not, I was prepared to leave.”

Although he admitted that he does not know if 2016 will be the year he gets inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, he did talk about his desire to have Ric Flair be the one to induct him if he does go in.

“I’ve been asked that question so many times over the years, ‘who would you want to [induct you into WWE Hall of Fame]?’ and I said, ‘Ric would have to be the one.’ I mean, that’s my first choice.” Sting added, “I don’t know what’s going to happen for sure, so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

With his 57th birthday and a neck surgery coming up, “The Icon” alluded to his in-ring days being over and being satisfied that he finally got to challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and work a match at a WrestleMania event.

“At least I have bragging rights now to say that I did WrestleMania and now I’ve wrestled for the [WWE] world title.” Sting continued, “I think I’ve done just about everything there is to do and so I feel good that I can look back and say that I actually did something with WWE.”

Video: Jordan & Gable Get Wild 10-Minute Chant During NXT Event In Blackpool

24

As the NXT U.K. Tour continues, it’s becoming quite apparent that the NXT brand is a hit with the English audience. Look no further than the above video for proof.

WWE posted the clip featured above on the official NXT Twitter page on Sunday afternoon that features a 30-second look at a chant that fans were doing that they claimed “went on for over ten minutes” during a Jordan and Gable vs. Blake and Murphy tag-team match at the sold out Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, England.

The chant is apparently a remix to the song “No Limits” that is often done at sporting events in the country, with the words simply changed to the names “Jordan” and “Gable.”

Triple H also took to social media to address the hot crowd at the NXT Blackpool event on Sunday.

“A sold out venue, a loud audience, and a great show,” Triple H wrote. “Thank you.”

The NXT U.K. Tour continues to sweep across England with events in Nottingham on Monday, Cardiff, Wales on Tuesday and finally the NXT TakeOver: London live WWE Network special from the SSE Arena on Wednesday.

Back in October, Lucha Underground Executive Producer and former WWE writer Chris DeJoseph said on a podcast he would be very interested in bringing in Mysterio.

“If Rey was in Lucha Underground at all that would be amazing,” DeJoseph said. “What can you say about that guy? He is a former world champion and probably one of the most popular Luchadores ever. That would be amazing.”

Daniel Bryan Says He’s Working On A Compromise With WWE Regarding His Future

62

After revealing during a recent interview with The New Paper out of Singapore that his WWE career might be over, Daniel Bryan offered additional information in an interview with PassThePopcorn.MY regarding potential non-wrestling work that the company has offered him, including a job as a television announcer or NXT trainer.

On Saturday, The Straits Times out of Singapore published a new interview where Bryan talks more about the topic, noting that he and WWE are currently “working on a compromise” regarding his future. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On WWE’s recent viewership decline:

“You have to evolve with the way the sport is evolving. So if the fans are voicing more of their displeasure with certain things, then you need to take that into account to make it entertaining because you have to please your fan base. At the end of the day, when they’ve spent their money, they need to know they’ve gotten what they wanted.”

On his roller-coaster so far:

“I’ve worked harder than a lot of people but a lot of people who’ve worked harder than me haven’t had the success that I’ve had. At the end of the day, I’ll just boil it down to luck and being at the right place at the right time,”

On working on a compromise with WWE regarding his in-ring future:

“Because of my history with concussions, the WWE medical doctor wouldn’t clear me. We’re in the process of trying to figure out some compromise. They keep sending me to do more tests, brain MRIs, brain EGs and all my tests have come back great to the point where my brain is better than someone my age with no concussion.”

Nikki Bella Provides Update On Her Return To The Ring

16

Nikki Bella, who has not wrestled since the night after Hell in a Cell due to injury, provided an update on her return to the squared circle:

Nikki last wrestled on the Oct. 26 Raw from her hometown of San Diego, California. On Nov. 3, she posted a photo on Instagram of herself rehabilitating her injured neck with a collar. Days later, she said she was having bulging discs in her neck fixed. It was also reported by F4WOnline.com that ‘the official WWE word’ on her injury status is that she’s resting a sore back.

Nikki is at least healthy enough to exercise. After updating fans on her injury status, she posted a photo of herself following a cardio workout.

Video: Joey Ryan On His Penis Spot In A Match Going Viral, Jim Cornette Calling Him Gay

13

Joey Ryan recently spoke with AfterBuzz TV’s Christian Rosenberg for a lengthy interview about a number of topics, including his infamous penis spot during a match, his issues with Jim Cornette calling him gay and more. Below are some of the highlights from the interview, which you can watch in full above.

On his famous penis spot during a match (as seen in the video below):

“Someone sent me a link to the match and I was watching it, and rarely do I pop for my own stuff or ‘oh I could’ve done that better/this better’, but I was watching it and I genuinely saw that part and it kinda made me laugh. I was like ‘alright that’s pretty ridiculous’. So I cut that 27 seconds out and I threw it up on Twitter like ‘eh let’s see how it goes’ and people really took to it.”

On his “Twitter War” with Jim Cornette:

“I probably shouldn’t have replied to Jim Cornette. It doesn’t bother me when people aren’t fans of my work cause I get that not everyone likes comedy, not everyone likes the character stuff not everyone likes every wrestler, that’s the fact of life. But I don’t care if you don’t like my wrestling, but when you try to throw ‘gay’ as an insult to me, I just feel like homophobia sets wrestling back far more than any comedy spot. So it just irked me a little bit that he insinuated that I was gay because I did this or that I enjoyed him grabbing me or whatever it was and he tried to use gay as an insult and I just feel like that is…that doesn’t belong anywhere in the world. Much less wrestling.”

For those who haven’t seen it yet, below is a video of Joey Ryan’s infamous “penis spot” referenced in the above interview that he performed during a match.

Joey Styles Comments On Why WWE Network Is Slow to Add ECW

3

One of the biggest complaints about WWE Network has always been the speed at which they release older content as well as the inconsistency in how they do it. The service added shows at a pretty consistent clip for its first couple months, but since then, it’s been all over the place. The last month or so has been encouraging, with a wide range of old shows added from all sorts of promotions and eras, but we still don’t really know when to expect anything.

In light of this, a fan asked Joey Styles on Twitter when we can expect more ECW shows, and Styles replied:

https://twitter.com/JoeyStyles/status/675309104131416064

This was common in pro wrestling for many years, but ECW did it later than any other major promotion. Music was also a much bigger part of the aesthetic of ECW than it was of other promotions, though, so he’s right that it will take much longer to edit those shows than it would with other promotions.

Petition Launched To Attempt To Get Donald Trump Removed From WWE Hall Of Fame

33

An online petition has been started at Change.org to get Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump from the WWE Hall Of Fame.

As of this writing, 4,903 people have signed the petition to get Trump removed from the WWE Hall Of Fame. Part of the petition reads:

Consistent with this statement, WWE should remove Donald Trump from the Hall of Fame for his derogatory comments about Mexicans and Mexican-Americans, Muslims and other minority groups.

WWE not only employs Muslim and Middle Eastern talent, but has also recently launched the Network in the Middle East. The WWE must realize how many of its fans are Muslim. What message does it send to them to honor Donald Trump on the WWE’s Hall of Fame?

And Mexico is one of WWE’s biggest international markets – the WWE has a history of working with Mexican professional wrestling promotions as well as recruiting some of Mexico’s top wrestlers. Many of WWE’s most beloved superstars represent their Mexican heritage in the ring.

Additionally, it was mentioned in the petition that WWE removed Hulk Hogan from their “online properties,” including the Hall Of Fame section of their official website for a similar offense. That part of the petition reads as follows:

Donald Trump has no place in the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame. The WWE Universe has continually expressed outrage at his induction, even booing him off the stage during his induction ceremony in 2013. He is a stain on WWE’s ability to be a positive influence to its 650 million fans worldwide.

Hulk Hogan’s immediate dismissal and removal from WWE’s online properties due to racist comments have shown us that WWE will not tolerate those who disrespect their commitment to celebrating diversity. This is a critical moment for the WWE to scrub its ties with Donald Trump immediately.

WrestleMania 32 Subsidized By $2.7 Million In Taxpayer Money

The Texas Tribune posted an article by Aman Batheja yesterday detailing how Texas taxpayer money is being used to bring WrestleMania 32 to Dallas on April 3rd.  The state has an “Events Trust Fund” designed to “help its communities offset the costs of hosting sporting and non-athletic events. To qualify for these funds, an event must be competitively bid, and the community must be competing with cities outside Texas for the right to host it.” The idea is that the economic impact of the events would offset what the state spends.

In the article, Governor Greg Abbott is called out for signing off on $2.7 million for WrestleMania last week. Why exactly It was the 20th event he’s approved since September, and he had said during his campaign last year that he wanted the state government “out of the business of picking winners and losers.” The 20 events approved so far total $26 million in money awarded from the Events Trust Fund, with $19.5 million of that being for the Formula One race in Austin that took place on October 25th.

Marty MacInnis, the chief financial officer for the local Stadium Events Organizing Committee, told the Tribune that “It’s a massive event. They’ve got fan festivals. They’ve got golf tournaments. They’ve got rallies. It’s one of those things where people from all over the world will come to this. […] The trust fund played a part in the decision to try and bid for the event.” He added that the total amount of funding that WWE will get has not been worked out as of yet.
