*Spoilers* Lucha Underground Season 2 Taping Results (2/24 & 3/2)
https://youtu.be/Zn0O1In2438
The following report comes courtesy of F4WOnline.com:
Dark match:
Jeff Cobb defeated El Mariachi Loco
Wednesday, February 24th:
Jack Evans defeated PJ Black
Jack cut a heel promo on the crowd before the match started where he called himself “The Dragon Slayer”. Midway through, Drago appeared on one of the corner platforms wearing a dragon skull and taunting Jack with nunchucks. Finish saw Drago come down and try to spit mist at Jack, but ended up hitting PJ which led to a rollup.
King Cuerno defeated Killshot
They messed up a move on the apron but it didn’t take much away from the match. Cuerno kept beating on Killshot afterwards until Fenix came out for the save
Chavo Guerrero, Mr Cisco, & Cortez Castro defeated El Texano Jr in a gauntlet match
Cisco is eliminated within 10 seconds after a kick to the face, Castro put up more of a fight in that it took just 2 minutes to beat him. Most of the match was Chavo/Texano with Cortez using Texano’s rope to trip him and hold his feet down for the cover
Johnny Mundo defeated Cage
A woman came out to distract Cage but I could not identify her (Blonde hair, similar attire to Asuka). After the match, both of them beat down and taunted Cage. Good match
Wednesday, March 2nd:
Cobra ??? (Last name sounded like Moon) defeated Sexy Star via submission
Cobra made her debut and looked to be Cheerleader Melissa under a blue snakeskin bodysuit (If it helps, she had a tiki tattoo on the back of her neck). The Mack came out to cheer Sexy on and Marty the Moth was in the stands near the end to distract Sexy. Cobra won with a rear naked choke and did some hissing towards Marty, clearly some type of relationship between them.
Prince Puma vs Pentagon Jr went to a no contest
Nice back & forth matchup until Mil Muertes ran 5 minutes into the match and beat both of them out. Mil left both laying with a double flatliner
Fenix defeated King Cuerno in a ladder match to regain the Gift of the Gods title
Awesome ladder match which saw them fight in the stands and in the floor seats. Match ended with Fenix giving Cuerno a top-rope hurricanrana through a table, then grabbing the title. The tapings ended with a staredown between Mil Muertes from his throne and Fenix on the ladder.
John Cena Talks About His Time Away From WWE Creating Opportunity For Others
John Cena recently spoke to Zap2It.com about his decision to take extended time off from WWE to film American Grit, a military-themed reality competition that will air on the Fox network in 2016. Despite the fact that he’s put over countless people over the years, his perennial spot at the top of WWE has led to strong backlash from fans who feel he overshadows everyone else. Cena says his absence has created an opportunity for today’s young talent:
“I’ve been a cornerstone of WWE programming since 2002. That’s a long time, it’s more than 10 years. So much so that a portion of our audience has direct complacency with me. ‘Man, Cena holds everybody down. He doesn’t give the new guys a chance.’”
“From a company perspective, as you know I hold it very near and dear to my heart, the dance floor is open, boys,” he explains. “I’m gone, let’s see who steps up. And I like that. As much as I want to try to distance myself or as much as someone who views me would try to distance myself from WWE, I’m never going to go.”
He added that his time away from the ring “gives our young thoroughbreds a chance to run on the track a little bit, but also lets them know I’m hot on their heels.”
Triple H Talks About Feeling Blessed, Vince McMahon’s Thoughts On NXT & More
As noted, Triple H was a guest on Z107’s Greg and the Morning Buzz radio show and spoke about feeling blessed to be in the position he is in and Vince McMahon’s thoughts on NXT. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.
On never dreaming he’d be in the position in WWE that he’s in now and feeling blessed:
“You hate to use the word ‘blessed’ or anything like that because it’s just so overused and all that. But you hear so many people say it all the time. You hear it in sports and ‘I’m so blessed to do this’ and I guess the guy you just beat wasn’t quite as blessed. But it’s just used and it’s a cliche, right?”
On Vince McMahon’s feelings about the NXT brand:
“Look, at the end of the day, [NXT]’s his company, right? I mean, I’ll see people say, ‘oh, NXT is the second biggest promotion.’ Well, no, it’s part of the biggest promotion in the world. We’ve just kind of created our own thing in our own niche. And to be able to take it from what it was, a developmental thing and trying to get people to that next level, which is still the goal, right? It’s still the goal. To take it to where we have is huge. We’re just giving [the audience] an opportunity to have another brand and another thing to watch and enjoy. And if you’re a fan of what we do, then that’s awesome. And, look, it’s designed to fill that niche. That’s exactly what it’s designed to do.”
WWE Trying To Pin Blame For Reid Storyline On Charlotte, Backstage Heat On Ric Flair
It looks like WWE is in damage control mode after their Reid Flair storyline on last Monday’s RAW. WWE is trying to make it seem that Charlotte came up with the idea, due to the backlash they’ve been receiving.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that a WWE rep told him on the phone that the angle mentioning Reid was Charlotte’s idea, and that she had been wanting to do it for months. The rep from WWE told him “we really didn’t want to do it, but Charlotte was insistent on it.” Meltzer says the rep was lying to him.
With the bad publicity they’ve started getting from the Reid Flair mention, apparently WWE thinks the best thing they could do is to pin it all on Charlotte and have her take one for the team.

As previously reported, the reality here is that the angle was not Charlotte’s decision, and it came from WWE creative. They re-aired the angle on SmackDown and it’s still up on their YouTube channel as of press time.
WWE was also unhappy with Ric Flair for calling them out about the Reid angle on his podcast.

Triple H: No Specific Or Credible Terrorist Threat To Survivor Series
Less than 24 hours before Survivor Series 2015, WWE Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events, and Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque tweeted the following update to the rumors about the pay-per-view in Atlanta being a target for an ISIS terrorist attack:
Federal, state and local law enforcement authorities have confirmed there is no specific or credible information involving a threat against tomorrow’s WWE Survivor Series at Philips Arena. However, WWE and Philips Arena have coordinated with the appropriate agencies and law enforcement, and significantly increased security measures to ensure the safety of all those in attendance, which is our highest priority. Doors will open at 6 p.m. to help fans avoid any delays in entering the arena due to the additional precautionary security procedures put in place. Fans are encouraged to take public transportation (MARTA) to the event and are advised that bags will not be permitted in the arena.
While not explicitly stated, it sounds like the security measures will slow down cars getting into the parking lot since they’re recommending fans take public transportation.
James Storm Permanently Joining NXT?, Photos Of John Cena On The Set Of New Fox Reality Show
– James Storm wrestles tonight for Renegade Championship Wrestling in Chatsworth, Georgia, which the independent promotion is advertising on Facebook as his “final trip to RCW before becoming full-time with the WWE.” The promotion is also billing Storm as a ‘current WWE superstar.’
Despite debuting in NXT in October, WWE has not indicated whether Storm is a full-time performer.
– It was announced on Wednesday that John Cena will host American Grit, a 10-episode military-themed reality competition show slated to air on Fox. The show splits “16 of the country’s toughest men and women into four teams as they work together to face a variety of military-grade and survival-themed challenges.”
Here are photos of Cena on the set of American Grit with Nick “The Reaper” Irving, an Army Ranger recruited to be a mentor on the show.
Eric Young Talks TNA Moving To Pop TV, Changes He Thinks TNA Needs To Make
https://youtu.be/A3t-gzMAyUY
Former TNA World Champion Eric Young called into the latest edition of Busted Open Radio to discuss TNA’s upcoming move from Destination America to Pop TV and changes he feels TNA needs to make. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.
On TNA moving to Pop TV and comparing TNA to Nickelback:
“It’s a big, fat, juicy, delicious ray of sunshine. There’s no mystery – all the guys know, all the people in the office know – there’s been a black cloud over the company. Whether it’s deserved or undeserved, that’s all in the eye of the beholder I suppose. But I think somewhere along the line we became kind of too big to be the underdog where people are really rooting for us and not big enough to be taken all the way serious. We’re in this in-between. I liken it – for me, for people that don’t understand wrestling, we’re the Nickelback of pro wrestling right now. I don’t know when that happened. Nickelback doesn’t care that it happened, but they’re aware of it too. It became cool to not like Nickelback. I’m not a musician. I don’t know anything about writing music or whatever, but I like Nickelback’s music. I listen to it. I’ve been a fan. I saw them live in Toronto when no one knew who they were. They were awesome. He has a full-size hockey rink in his basement. He gets drunk and plays with his buddies. They’re great and I think TNA’s great. I’ve always thought that. That will never change. It’s never going to be perfect. Nothing in entertainment is going to make everybody happy, but moving to Pop TV is a big, positive step for us. History’s the history and we’re all moving forward positive.”
On changes TNA needs to make:
“I’m not a businessman. I would never say that I know anything about business. If I didn’t have an iPhone, I would never show up anywhere. I wouldn’t know where I was going. I would never be on time for anything. I’m disorganized and brutal, but if you’re asking me, it has nothing to do with a single person. They have to decide a direction and go there and march. We can’t say, ‘Oh, we’re doing this now’ and throw 20 things against the wall. Then, six weeks down the road, maybe those things aren’t working right away and then re-do it all and start again. We’re spinning our tires. We have to just decide a direction, decide who we’re using, decide what we’re doing, decide who we’re showcasing, what we’re trying to give the wrestling fans, and then give it to them on a consistent basis. That’s the biggest thing for me is consistency. That’s sort of like accountability. When you tune into Impact, you’re getting a great wrestling match. You’re getting a great storyline, you’re getting a good women’s match. It’s the ultimate variety show.”
Taz Speaks On Traveling With WWE & Vince McMahon’s Work Ethic
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Taz talked about traveling with Vince McMahon and what his work ethic is like. He mentioned that only wrestlers are allowed to sleep on WWE’s plane coming back from TV tapings, while Vince and the other staff stay up working late into the night.
“I had the opportunity for so long to travel every week on Vince’s plane,” said Taz. “Michael Cole and I would travel with Vince and the writers because we had to get back to Connecticut to do the voiceovers for Smackdown, so I got to see Vince behind the scenes 30,000 feet in the air. He’d be sitting there at one in the morning, on a flight from Anaheim to New York, while everyone was struggling to keep their eyes open, and he’d be working non-stop.”
“I’ve seen Triple H fall asleep on the plane, and it wasn’t a problem. I fell asleep on that plane many a time and it wasn’t a problem. If you took some bumps and you fell asleep, it was no problem. If you’re a writer or a play-by-play announcer, it was going to be a problem. It was never mean-spirited, it was like high school with money. It was fun.”

Triple H Comments On Survivor Series Terror Threat
WWE Executive Vice President Triple H tweeted the following about the news that terrorist organization ISIS could be plotting an attack at Sunday night’s Survivor Series pay-per-view from Atlanta, Georgia:
.@WWE Survivor Series is currently scheduled as planned while we investigate reports with authorities.
— Triple H (@TripleH) November 21, 2015
“Hacktivist” group Anonymous issued a warning over the weekend that ISIS is planning several coordinated terror attacks on Sunday, with Atlanta’s Philips Arena listed as one of the potential targets. Both WWE and the FBI have issued statements, essentially stating that there are no specific/credible threats that they are aware of, but they are taking the situation seriously.

WWE & FBI Issue Statements On Possible ISIS Threat To Survivor Series
Earlier, we brought you the news that reportedly, tomorrow night’s WWE Survivor Series 2015 pay-per-view at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia may be on an ISIS target list for a terrorist attack. There were mixed signals being sent as to just how legitimate a threat this is, and now, we can update you with official statements from both WWE and the FBI:
WWE (from Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet):
Survivor Series is currently scheduled as planned while we investigate the matter with federal, state and local authorities.
FBI (from WSB-TV):
The FBI is aware of an alleged threat that includes an Atlanta, Georgia venue and event. While we take all threats seriously, we do not have specific or credible information of an attack at this time. We have, however, made the proper notifications as we continue to work closely with our law enforcement and private sector partners to keep our community safe.
We’ll have more later as it comes in, of course.
UPDATE: WWE executive Paul “Triple H” Levesque tweeted this:

WWE Survivor Series On Possible ISIS Target List For Terror Attack
This morning, the International Business Times reported that, per a PasteBin dump by hackers identifying as part of Anonymous, ISIS is planning a number of terrorist attacks worldwide this weekend. One of the targets, listed as not 100% confirmed, is tomorrow’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view event at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
DEVELOPING: FBI official: Taking report about ISIS threat seriously in Atlanta https://t.co/nNc1I3WM9B pic.twitter.com/XAAZY5zwB1
— WSB-TV (@wsbtv) November 21, 2015
Anonymous is not planning to release the proof publicly but told the IB Times that they have “passed proof to the MI5 intelligence agency in the U.K., the CIA and FBI in the U.S., and the Australian government.”
There was some skepticism on Twitter at first: On one hand International Business Times is a legitimate news organization and the author is an editor there with a verified Twitter account. On the other, they’ve become best known for being a “content farm” full of “click bait” style articles with headlines about nonexistent new technology products to get Google hits. It became clear that the story is very legitimate when Mark Winne of WSB-TV in Atlanta chimed in on Twitter:
FBI official: taking #Anonymous report about #Isis threat @ #WWE event in #Atlanta seriously @wsbtv #BREAKING
— Mark Winne (@MarkWinneWSB) November 21, 2015
Don't panic about #wwe event. More info coming @wsbtv
— Mark Winne (@MarkWinneWSB) November 21, 2015
WSB then posted a statement from Jim Butterworth of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, saying that they are “working closely with the FBI, the Georgia information sharing and analysis center and others in evaluating the threat on a Sunday WWE event in Atlanta reported by the group Anonymous.” After that, Winne tweeted more new information:
Source suggests Isis info re #wwe event may simply be posting it as suggested target for lone wolf @wsbtv
— Mark Winne (@MarkWinneWSB) November 21, 2015
Source– no known active plot re #wwe event @wsbtv
— Mark Winne (@MarkWinneWSB) November 21, 2015
https://twitter.com/MarkWinneWSB/status/668119847461605376
As of right now, this is clearly a developing story with conflicting stories and we’ll bring you more when we have it.
UPDATE: Both the FBI and WWE have released statements on the situation.
Survivor Series Match Scrapped, TLC PPV Artwork, SmackDown Rating
– In the weeks leading up to Survivor Series, WWE had discussed Sasha Banks taking on Natalya at the pay-per-view. With less than 48 hours to go, it looks that match has been scrapped. WWE has yet to announce a match for the pre-show (or the participants for the 5-on-5 match), so there’s still hope for Sasha vs. Natalya could always be a last-minute addition.
– WWE is planning to hold Money in the Bank 2016 from Las Vegas at the new Las Vegas Arena, according to Prowrestling.net. The show typically takes place in June.
– Thursday’s SmackDown drew a 1.64 cable rating with 2.229 million viewers, up slightly from the previous week. The main event saw Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio and Kevin Owens.
– Roman Reigns is featured prominently on the artwork for December’s Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view. The show takes place on December 13th at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dolph Ziggler Says He Only Plans To Wrestle For 2 More Years
Dolph Ziggler did a Twitter Q&A on Friday afternoon and revealed that he only plans on wrestling for two more years.
As you probably know, Ziggler has been venturing out into comedy over the past few years, regularly performing stand-up and improv on the road while touring with WWE. When asked where he sees himself in 3 years, he said:
https://twitter.com/HEELZiggler/status/667822748261969922
A fan asked directly how much longer he sees himself wrestling and he replied:
https://twitter.com/HEELZiggler/status/667827087521116160
Ziggler signed a new contract with WWE just a few months ago after months of speculation regarding his future with the company. Over the summer, he told The Boston Herald,
“What I wanna do is make myself a bigger asset to WWE. If it involves leaving, that would crush me but it might.”
Jim Ross On Wrestling Gaining Mainstream Popularity, His Autobiography & More
WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke with Downtown Magazine NYC about a wide variety of topics. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.
On why he feels wrestling is becoming more mainstream despite a Hulk Hogan level star:
“The genre of pro wrestling – a.k.a. sports entertainment — is amazingly tenured and has been a TV staple for decades. So why wouldn’t mainstream media cover it as they do a litany of other entities? It’s a global product with millions of fans, so covering the business seems logical to me for the ESPN’s, FOX Sports’, etc. of the world. Plus, the decision-makers at many of the companies covering WWE grew up as fans, perhaps.”
On whether or not he had any investments besides his Bar-B-Q sauces during his WWE run, such as real estate or the stock market:
“We did not venture out too far with our portfolio, but have been doing organized financial planning for over twenty years with the same representative. I accumulated a great deal of WWE stock over my years there which has served us well. We had a failed restaurant concept that was derailed by the state highway department closing the exit to our location for an excruciatingly long period of time. That was the only set back that we’ve encountered financially, but it also made us some money while it was open. So we look at it as a unique experience, take the good we learned from it, and continue to move forward. Our next major move will be to continue to get our line of condiments into major grocery store chains including Ingles Markets in the Southeast, over 200 stores, that should be in place soon.”
On the status of his autobiography:
“The writing of my autobiography is certainly a process and we hope to have it finished by the holidays of 2016, but we aren’t going to compromise quality and accuracy to meet a commercial, self-imposed deadline.”
