Update On Backstage Turmoil During Hell In A Cell Main Event

45

As it turns out, Vince McMahon wasn’t that upset with The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar bleeding during their “Final Battle” inside Hell In A Cell at Sunday night’s WWE pay-per-view in Los Angeles, but rather how things went after the blood started pouring.

A source who was watching the situation unfold from the gorilla position last night noted to PWInsider.com that McMahon was not upset over the blood, even if he wasn’t thrilled to see it. What set Vince off was the fact that Lesnar shoved the doctor out of the way after Vince sent him to ringside to clean things up. Lesnar shoving the doctor was not at all a planned spot. Lesnar got frustrated that the doctor was interrupting the momentum of the match and took it upon himself to attack him.

When Lesnar and Undertaker returned backstage after the match, there was no incident with McMahon calling them into his office or talking down to them in front of everyone else in sight, despite reports to the contrary.

WWE RAW Results (October 26, 2015)
From The Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California
Report by Jason Powell and ProWrestling.net

Triple H’s music played and he walked onto the stage with Stephanie McMahon. Michael Cole, JBL, and Byron Saxton checked in on commentary and narrated still shots of the Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar match from Hell in a Cell, including the Wyatt Family taking Taker away.

In the ring, Hunter and Stephanie gushed over Hell in a Cell and noted that Alberto Del Rio beat John Cena to become the new U.S. Champion. Hunter spoke about how HIAC featured the emergence of the next generation of superstars. Huh? Stephanie introduced Seth Rollins as the best example of this.

Hunter and Stephanie raved about Rollins defeating everyone that they put in front of him. Hunter said he ousted Kane as the director of operations and made WWE better in the process. They both told him they are proud of him. Rollins hugged them both and then said he’s speechless for the first time ever.

Rollins told the crowd to give it up for The Authority. Stephanie said that Rollins is the greatest superstar of his generation and is headed for the WWE Hall of Fame. She said they put them in a tough spot because he’s beaten everyone there is to beat. Hunter said the next challenger has to earn the right to step in the ring with Rollins.

Triple H announced that they will take the winners from HIAC and put them against one another and then they will meet in a four-way with the winner becoming the No. 1 contender. Rollins started to say that’s best for business, but he was interrupted.

Roman Reigns made his entrance through the crowd and joined the trio inside the ring. Reigns said the whole scene was making him sick. He mocked the idea of Rollins being WWE Hall of Fame bound. Reigns said that after tonight he will be the number one contender. “And I’m taking that championship,” he said. “Believe that.” Stephanie McMahon added, “Well, then, let the games begin”

WWE World Title Number One Contender Qualifying Match
– Roman Reigns vs. Kofi Kingston

Before the match, New Day cut a promo on their way to the ring about how the biggest difference between them and Reigns is that they are champions and he is not. Reigns performed a neck breaker on Kingston, who rolled to ringside.

Kingston got his offensive run as the broadcast team spoke about Reigns being weary from the Hell in a Cell match. Reigns fought back with punches and a headbutt. Kingston came back and performed a double ax-handle off the top rope. JBL questioned whether Kingston ended up facing Reigns on the right night.

Reigns came back and threw ten clotheslines in the corner as the crowd counted along. Reigns threw Kingston across the ring, then ran into a kick. Reigns rolled up Kingston, then picked him up at two and slammed him down for a two count. Big E tried to get involved, but Reigns knocked him off the apron. Kingston went for Trouble in Paradise, but Reigns ducked it and then speared him and pinned him.

Roman Reigns beat Kofi Kingston in 12:45 to advance to the four-way match.

Backstage, The Miz had a group of anonymous people gathered to watch him play the new WWE video game as Steve Austin… Cole hyped exclusive content will be unveiled on WWE’s social media platforms… The broadcast team narrated still shots of Alberto Del Rio beating John Cena to win the U.S. Championship with Zeb Colter in his corner. Cole hyped Del Rio vs. Neville, Big E vs. Dolph Ziggler, and Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens as the other qualifying matches.

WWE World Title Number One Contender Qualifying Match
– Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens

Owens got a pre-tape talking about winning both titles. Owens jumped out to the early advantage with punches and then played to the crowd by saying, “That’s why I’m the best.” Owens taunted Cole before Cesaro came back with a suplex.

Cesaro had a nice offensive run coming out the break. Owens came back with a backslide for a two count. Cesaro came back with his springboard spinning uppercut. They were caught up in the ropes or a second. Owens caught a distracted Cesaro with a kick and then delivered the Pop-Up Powerbomb for the win…

Kevin Owens defeated Cesaro to advance to the four-way match.

Nikki Bella Taking Time Off Too?, Alberto Del Rio Says He’s Back Where He Belongs

35

– There is speculation regarding Nikki Bella potentially taking time off with boyfriend John Cena following last night’s WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Part of that speculation stems from the fact that Bella wrote about needing to “regroup” and promising that she’ll “be back” in the following tweet.

– New WWE United States Champion Alberto Del Rio noted via Twitter that he is back where he belongs. He posted the following on Twitter and Instagram today.

Seth Rollins Says He Would Love To Work With AJ Styles

18

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins appeared on CBS Radio Dallas 105.3 THE FAN last week to promote WWE RAW in the city and during the interview, Rollins commented on possibly having a match with AJ Styles.

“I don’t talk to AJ on the regular, but I think he’s doing pretty alright in New Japan [Pro-Wrestling’s] Bullet Club and Ring Of Honor, so he [has] made a great career for himself just doing his thing, doing AJ.,” said Rollins.

“I mean, he’s someone I’d love to work with, especially at this stage of our careers. I think we’re pretty much at the top of our games, so it’d be cool, but you never know.”

Correction On Attendance At GFW TV Taping: Over 2,000 Fans At The Show?

6

Although it was initially reported that somewhere between 400 and 500 fans attended the GFW Amped television tapings on Friday in Las Vegas, that may not be the case as The Orleans Arena reported that there were 2,109 fans in attendance.

It’s worth noting that multiple correspondents estimated between 300 and 500 fans at the tapings. Additionally, The Orleans Arena said over 500 fans came through the turnstile after the show was already underway.

There were also fans with free tickets that seemed to come and go as they pleased. When the show first began, there were reports of fans being moved up to the first five or six rows to fill seats.

Gene LeBell Talks About The Passing Of His Friend Roddy Piper

3

Here’s something you may not know about “Rowdy” Roddy Piper: He was a black belt in judo under “Judo” Gene LeBell. One of the two sons of promoter Aileen Eaton, LeBell and his brother Mike eventually took over the Los Angeles promotion where Piper got his first big break.  Gene also worked as an underneath wrestler and the promotion’s “policeman” before retiring and becoming a uniquely animated TV interviewer. So he had plenty of dealings with Piper, and they became friends for decades, coming to an abrupt end over the Summer when Piper passed away.

Today, a new interview with LeBell was released by Submission Radio. Being that it’s the first time he’s been on the show since Piper’s death, they asked LeBell about his friend:

Well Roddy Pipper, he’s good. I mean, when I say good, I don’t take that lightly. He would have made a fortune off MMA, but he was making a fortune doing Piper’s Pit. And every time he got in a bad mood he’d call me up ‘come on, we’re going down to the gym and wrestle’. And he spent a lot of time on an airplane, going from town to town. He had a little radio program here I was on, and two days before he passed, I was with him and he said he wants to come down on Monday to the dojo and workout. And I said ‘no problem’. I says ‘how do you feel’? He says “I’m tired. Gene, I’m really tired”. And you burn the candle at both ends, it’s gonna come up and get you in the middle.

[…]

So anyway, he at 61, he passed. And I used to – I have a terrible memory. But I used to tell him, every year his birthday was April 17th and 1954. And I said ‘oh, it’s you’re birthday’, you know and he always asks ‘how do you remember?’. Well I do things through association. I won Judo nationals through that date for the US on April 17th 1954. So you know, now I am 104 and going up, but he was a good guy.

Alberto Del Rio Gets Special WWE Deal With Limited Dates, Will Finish Indy Bookings

52

In regards to Alberto Del Rio’s deal with WWE, F4WOnline.com is reporting that he has been in talks with WWE for quite some time about a return to the company, but the deal was not finalized until recently.

Del Rio’s deal is described as “great” and his schedule is said to be easier than the rest of the WWE roster, as he is not scheduled to work as many dates as the regular crew.

As of right now, Del Rio is scheduled to work the rest of the independent dates he has on his current schedule.

One of the big reasons he returned to WWE was because of money. His Lucha Underground deal was his main source of income, but after he had a falling out with the company over “creative,” returning to WWE was his only option of making that kind of money again.

Vince McMahon Reportedly Furious At Blood In WWE Hell In A Cell Main Event

88

Both The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar were seen bleeding during the main event at the WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Taker and Lesnar’s injuries were not a result of blading, but rather they were both busted open. As seen during WrestleMania 31, Lesnar ran directly into the ring post whereas Taker’s injury was caused by Lesnar taking his glove off and throwing head punches.

An insider backstage texted Bryan Alvarez from F4WOnline.com as they caught Vince McMahon’s reaction to the blood. It was said that due to the no blood policy in WWE, Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn were freaking out as they watched backstage.

Kevin Dunn was reportedly flipping out, demanding WWE doctors go into the Hell In A Cell structure to calm down the situation, however when Lesnar shoved the doctor, he did not return and the match continued regardless.

Looking At WWE Stars Rumored To Answer Tonight’s U.S. Open Challenge” At HIAC

36

There is still no confirmation from within WWE regarding who is scheduled to answer John Cena’s “U.S. Open Challenge” at tonight’s WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, however the strongest rumor making the rounds is that Samoa Joe will be the man to challenge Cena.

At last word, Joe was in Sacramento, California for the NXT events at the Aftershock tour, but it would only take a quick flight to get him to L.A. for Hell In A Cell if necessary.

Tyler Breeze is another rumor, as it would set up Breeze vs. Dolph Ziggler for the U.S. title, which has been talked about.

With that being said, multiple WWE sources have claimed James Storm, Tyler Breeze and Samoa Joe will not be the ones to answer Cena’s “U.S. Open Challenge” this evening.

Another rumor is Sheamus, as Sheamus vs. Cena is currently being advertised for the WWE live events that Cena is booked to appear on after returning from his scheduled hiatus.

Finally, there has been talk going around that Daniel Bryan could be the man to answer the challenge, as he is rumored to be in Los Angeles today, and is rumored to be officially cleared to return to the ring.
