Lucha Underground has recently been given the green light for a second season and the company have just sent out a press release stating that they have released Shawn Hernandez
During his run on Lucha Underground Hernandez also begun working for TNA after telling them that he had already been given his released.
This wasn’t the case and Lucha Underground enforced their contractual rights which left TNA with no other choice but to scrap any segments they had planned for him on TV.
Lucha Undergroundsent the following:

Cody Rhodes and his brother Dustin (Goldust) will be appearing at next month’s NXT Takeover: Respect event to present the championship trophy to the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. It will be Cody’s first WWE appearance (as himself) in nearly a year and a half. He told Triblive.com this week:
“It’s great though that you ask, because the Dusty Rhodes tag tournament taking place in NXT is something he would really be proud of because of all the platforms it gives to talent, including independent talent that came in for a shot to win the Dusty Rhodes tag tournament. I will actually be there myself, (as) me — for the first time a while on WWE programming — Cody Rhodes and my brother will be there to present the trophy, which I’m looking forward to seeing.”
The semi-finals and finals of the tournament will be held at Takeover: Respect on Wednesday, October 7th from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.
Cody also spoke about his decision to not return as Cody Rhodes after the passing of his father, the late, great “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. He explains why he think it would have been tacky – and what Dusty told him about how he wanted to be remembered after he was gone.
“It would have been tacky — would have been tacky, and it wouldn’t have been genuine. Many years ago, I used to watch RAW with my dad, and we watched Nitro, and we watched the pay-per-views. Many years ago, there was a wrestler who passed away, and his name was used pretty regularly after that on programming. People were using it to try draw the adulation of fans. Everyone was saying, “Oh, well such and such who passed away would have loved this.” And (my father) told me, and this is something very few people know, “When I go don’t ever let anybody say that about me. I left my body of work on the table already and it doesn’t need to be expanded.” And I never forgot that. So there was never any question on who was coming back.”
NXT Champion Finn Balor teamed up with Samoa Joe at last night’s NXT Live Event in Lakeland, Florida (24th September) to take on the team of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.
Towards the end of the match with Dawson and Wilder on top of each other Balor took the opportunity to plant them with the Coup De Grace for the win, taking out a ceiling tile in the process.
A similar incident occurred during NXT’s Live Event last month but as shown in the photos, the venue does have a low ceiling so most top rope moves are likely to be a risk.
After the match his partner Samoa Joe checked him out for any potential injuries and Balor later tweeted that “Ratings are through the roof”:
Throughout the game fans will hear the voices of JBL, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler on commentary however Joey Styles has confirmed that he will be involved in one match during Showcase mode.
He took to Twitter yesterday (24th September) to confirm the news. WWE 2K would then go on to release a short video clip directly from Joey Styles himself.
WWE 2K16 will be released on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles on the 27th of October in North America and on the 30th of October internationally.
Former TNA Gunner recently spoke to PWMania.com about his time in TNA and his lifelong goal of working for WWE. Here are some highlights of what he said about:
His Time in TNA, His Departure & What’s Next:
“I really enjoyed working for the company. I’ve been with them since 09’, Terry Taylor helped me get my foot in the door with me and Murphy and working the security deal. I will definitely miss the guys that I worked with. I think it goes the same way and that they will miss me. I talked with a handful of them. I really think it was best. After six years, there were times where I felt I was underutilized. Even though I worked with James Storm and I did the main event with Magnus, even after the Sam Shaw stuff I was put on the backburner for some odd reason and didn’t do anything wrong. After six years, I was to the point where I was stressed out a lot. I’m 33 you know and I don’t want my youth soaked up. I feel like I have something more to offer to somebody whether Impact calls me back in a couple months or WWE or Ring of Honor whoever it is, I know that me as a person I have a lot to offer. I think it was what was best for business.
“There is no bad blood. It was a mutual agreement and I thank them for the opportunities of having me in the Impact ring. But I have bigger and better goals and I think that since I was 5 I wanted that Wrestlemania moment. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to compete in the WWE ring and I’m not getting any younger. It’s still in the back of my mind, hey, I want to compete in a WWE ring or NXT has an amazing product right now down there. So I feel like I could wrestle on Impact and I’m looking forward to the future.”
His future and WWE:
“I personally hope to one day in the future compete in the WWE. I mean like I said a minute ago, that is my ultimate goal since I was 5. I really feel like even if I go and another huge goal of mine is acting. I’ve done two movies this year and I do numerous amounts of auditions every week but I think my heart lies and still does with having a WWE match and having that Wrestlemania moment. After that I can probably retire and hopefully build The Rock’s status and act as much as I can because I love acting. The beating on my body and wanting to have kids one day and enjoy them. If I’m 65 and I never even attempt to try WWE then there will be a missing and void there. I’m in Kingsport, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia and right outside of Atlanta. So anybody that follows me, I post independent shows. I’m booked up all the way to December from Virginia to North Carolina to South Carolina and I’m working on a UK tour, going to Korea for some Military appearances. I stay busy, man.”
NXT Champion Finn Balor recently spoke to Title Match Wrestling about the NXT brand’s success and whether we’ll see an NXT live event during WrestleMania 32 weekend.
Balor said it’s hard to believe how far NXT has come in the past year. “For a lot of the boys at NXT, we feel like we’ve captured lightning in a bottle. A year ago we were wrestling in front of 30-40 people in Florida. Now we’re in Texas, and we’re blowing the roof off.”
After selling out the Barclays Center last month for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, NXT is keeping the momentum going and has already sold out the SSE Arena for December’s NXT Takeover: London event. Balor is hoping they can keep the momentum going with another NXT special event from the Dallas area next year for WrestleMania 32 weekend.
“A lot of us believe we’re completely separate from what they’re doing on the main roster, and some of us don’t necessarily want to be on WrestleMania. We’re going to have our own card, hopefully, the night before. We’ll sell out a building, and saying to the boys follow that.”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted the following on Instagram about the first time he met Vince McMahon back when he was only 11 years old.
My nightmare aka my very first TV “appearance” when I was 11yrs old.
At a WWE TV taping in Allentown, PA. Since my dad was always on the road wrestling, any father/son time we got in was great, so I was super pumped to travel with him.
It was backstage that I’d meet a man who years later we’d enjoy tremendous success together, and he’d become one of my strongest mentors in business – Vince McMahon. I’ll never forget he shook my hand, looked down at me and said “We gotta get you on camera tonight young man!”. I thought, “WHOA I’m gonna be on TV… can’t wait to tell my friends… AWESOME!”. So I’m sitting there in the crowd, the camera man comes over and tells me he’s getting ready to shoot so be ready. It was in that defining moment that I just realized something awful… I was just getting over a bad case of Chicken Pox (you can clearly see a few “post pox” on my face), and I thought “Holy sh*t this is terrible! The world will see me for the first time, and I look like someone set fire to my face and stomped it out with cleats”. Looking back at this gem of a picture, there’s two things I’ve learned: Things are never as bad as they seem (especially at 11yrs old) and instead of worrying about my Chicken Pox I should’ve been concerned with the world questioning whether I was a boy or a girl. Which, for the record happened all the time to me when I was a kid.
WWE Hall of Famer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch was arrested on Wednesday 9/23 and is currently jailed at The Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning, PA.
Sytch had a bench warrant issued on 9/3 after she missed three hearings that were scheduled to deal with her arrest from back in May, when a police officer noticed her driving erratically into a Wal-Mart parking lot and arrested her for driving under the influence. She also had a suspended license and was cited with careless driving. She is scheduled to see Judge Joseph J. Matika today and a trial is set to begin on 12/7.
In addition, she has another court date scheduled for 10/7 for DUI arrests that took place on 6/1 and 6/20. The charges for the June arrests include careless driving, failure to stay in her lane during traffic, driving without a license and DUI.
Paige spoke with E! News this week to promote Tuesday’s season finale of Total Divas. Here are the highlights of what she said about:
Her upcoming wedding:
“We haven’t gotten very far yet. We haven’t started planning anything because I think I could be engaged for five years. I don’t want to rush into stuff. But I’ll keep you posted as soon as I know what’s going on.”
Putting her life on display for the cameras:
“I was definitely worried at first and very skeptical. I wasn’t ready for it. But the crew is absolutely amazing. We’re like a big family. They make it so easy and you don’t even realize they’re there half of the time. They’re so respectful. It’s different because obviously I don’t like my personal life being out there, but this is helping people as well.”
Mick Foley says if he could change anything about WWE, he would “Push Cesaro.” The hardcore legend posted a message on Facebook voicing his strong support for Cesaro and questioning the baffling booking of his character. Foley wrote:
TWO WORDS: PUSH CESARO
Last night, I was asked a simple question during the Q&A part of my show in Philadelphia: “if you were in charge of WWE, what one change would you make?” I gave a simple answer. Push Cesaro. I’m not trying to create controversy or be a pain in WWE’s neck – but the recent treatment of this guy on TV is downright baffling to me. Besides, as long as I said it, and it will be reported on (which I’m pretty sure it will be) you might as well read it here first. I know Steve Austin has been an enthusiastic Cesaro supporter. Maybe he needs a little bit of help. Maybe my opinion will mean something. Maybe yours will too. Tell me about your favorite Cesaro – WWE match. Give this post a like and a comment..maybe even share it – and we’ll see if a few thousand comments on the Foley Facebook page (which I KNOW the WWE front-office reads) might make a difference.
– To promote this Tuesday’s season finale of Total Divas, E! News chatted with Paige about her future wedding, Rosa Mendes’ pregnancy, why she compares her family to The Osbournes and more.
On last week’s show, A Day To Remember guitarist Kevin Skaff proposed to Paige, and she said, “Yes.” She was asked how the wedding planning is going and said, “We haven’t gotten very far yet. We haven’t started planning anything because I think I could be engaged for five years. I don’t want to rush into stuff. But I’ll keep you posted as soon as I know what’s going on.”
Paige was also asked about sharing her life with the cameras on the show.
“I was definitely worried at first and very skeptical. I wasn’t ready for it. But the crew is absolutely amazing. We’re like a big family. They make it so easy and you don’t even realize they’re there half of the time. They’re so respectful. It’s different because obviously I don’t like my personal life being out there, but this is helping people as well,” she said.
Another wrench just got thrown in the private life of Hulk Hogan. Today, the Associated Press reported on a motion that they filed in Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker.
As you may recall, about three years ago, Gawker published an article about being sent one of the videos that shows Hogan engaged in sexual relations with Heather Clem. The videos were shot on the Clem family home security system without Hogan’s knowledge, and Gawker included a “highlight reel” of the video they were sent with the article.
Hogan sued Gawker right away, and Gawker later sued the FBI for the records of their investigation into Hogan being extorted by a third party over the videos. Gawker quickly won the FBI case, but the judge in the Hogan case ruled that the products of that investigation(including a video and transcript of Hogan’s racist rant) must be sealed. The AP and its fellow intervenors want the records unsealed.
Charles Tobin, who filed the motion, said that “It’s highly unusual for this much secrecy to surround a civil proceeding. Ordinarily, whether it’s a celebrity or an average citizen, once you ask the court to help solve a dispute you open the proceedings up to public review. What’s going on in Hulk Hogan’s case certainly is not the norm when it comes to public transparency of the courts.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRpnLCvRhkw
I’ve obtained a copy of the filing, and here’s what we can add on top of what the AP noted in their own report:
Joining the Associated Press in filing the intervening motion are First Look Media (The Intercept and Reported.ly), WFTS TV (a Tampa, FL TV station), WPTV TV (a West Palm Beach, FL TV station), Scripps Media (owns many local newspapers, TV stations, and radio stations), Journal Broadcast Group (a multimedia company that recently merged with Scripps), and the Tampa Bay Times.
The argument is, essentially, that the files were ruled public information in Gawker’s lawsuit against the FBI, and Florida’s own state laws err on the side of court records being incredibly open. But…
…even if there was a time where the sealing was warranted, the argument is that Hogan demanding an investigation into a potential leak means the records must go public because he put them at issue.
While none of the intervenors would be expected t publish the sex tapes if this action succeeded, it wouldn’t really matter since they’d be ruled public record and someone else would release them.
The “Magnificent” Don Muraco is the latest guest to appear on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast, and they covered a large variety of topics in their conversation with him. At least a few of those have to do with current events in the wrestling business. Some of the highlights include:
His thoughts on Hulk Hogan’s post-coital racist rant going public:
Honestly, I was never a part of his clique so I don’t have a dog in the fight. I was never a part of his clique with the guys they used to fawn around him and kiss his ass for work and for bookings and for places on the card. He always seemed though to be one of the guys, kind of. Even though he wasn’t because he was “The Hulk”. He had the TV, the NBC, the movies and everyone coming after him. I never did see or saw him as a racist or a bigot or anything. He got caught. It was stupid for a guy that spends that much time talking publicly like we are talking now for a person that spends that much time being taped it was dumb and pretty insensitive. I don’t know if he was secretly being taped or what the story is but still with all the political correctness and stuff going down now you have to watch your p’s and q’s all the time.
Was he aware of the issues between Jimmy Snuka and Nancy Argentino at the time?
I was right there around it the whole time. It was the week after we shot the thing where he tore all my clothes off and I hit him with the microphone. The same night, it was the oddest coincidence. That same night Eddie Gilbert had run his brand new Lincoln Town-car off the back end of a semi-truck and got drug down the freeway and he called me in the middle of the night and that’s how I ended up crossing over with all of the State Troopers and everything else and that’s how I got involved but I could see my whole future going down the drain there for a while.
Has he talked to Snuka lately?
I was talking to him on the phone until he started having his medical issues. I haven’t spoken to him in a while. His wife wanted me to see him when I’m up in New Jersey and she wanted me to say hello to him and kind of perk up his spirits.
Where does he stand on the wrestlers suing WWE for negligence in treating concussions:
I would have to be more for the personal responsibility. Although we were getting run really hard. I don’t know, but I guess I would follow (Dan) Spivey where you have to take responsibility for yourself. I just saw a tape of Led Zeppelin doing Stairway to Heaven and Jimmy Page and the four of them and I think the girl from Heart was doing it too and they are all still surviving. So if Led Zeppelin is still going then a lot of wrestlers should be. I think though I have to agree with Danny Spivey and you have to take personal responsibility for yourself when it comes to addiction and taking care of your bread. We are all afforded the opportunity to make money and when you lose it and you are knocked off your high horse you want to blame somebody else.
In the full interview, Muraco talks about working for both Vince McMahons, his run with Hogan, “Fuji Vice” on Tuesday Night Titans, and more.
As of this writing, the only match that’s been announced for next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view is the Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker main event. According to the Wrestling Observer, the following matches are also planned for the card:
– WWE Champion Seth Rollins vs. Kane
– Kevin Owens vs. Ryback for the IC title
– The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz in a Tables Match for the WWE tag titles
– Divas Champion Charlotte vs. Nikki Bella vs. Paige
– Wyatt Family vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton
It was announced on this week’s episode of NXT that Apollo Crews will take on Tyler Breeze at the upcoming NXT Takeover: Respect live special on Wednesday, October 7th. Here’s the updated card:
– NXT Women’s Champion Bayley vs. Sasha Banks in a 30-Minute IronWoman Match
– Baron Corbin & Rhyno vs. TBA (Dusty Tournament semi-final)
– The Mechanics vs. TBA (Dusty Tournament semi-final)
– The finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament
Frank launched JAPW in 1997 as a hardcore themed independent promotion where he was in the mix as part of top tag team NC-17. Early on, the promotion got a lot of attention when he made an elaborate prank call to the Howard Stern Show. Claiming to be an indie wrestler who had a “big match coming up against NC-17,” he said that he and friends who had been abused by their high school principal tracked him down and badly beat him. It was quickly determined to be a hoax, obviously.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2eb_e2S-gg
JAPW took a turn in 2001. Thanks to local news coverage shining a spotlight on JAPW and rival Combat Zone Wrestling’s bloody, weapons-filled matches and New Jersey’s lack of pro wrestling regulation, the state legislature felt the need to take action. They banned “extreme wrestling,” which was defined as “an activity in which participants struggle hand-to-hand and cut, slash or strike each other or themselves with an implement to intentionally cause bleeding or perform any intentional act which could reasonably be expected to cause bleeding, primarily for the purpose of providing entertainment to spectators rather than conducting a bona fide athletic contest.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ft3AssT5b60
This led to a style change, and JAPW began to load up on the best local talent in addition to producing their own through their wrestling school. Wrestlers like Homicide, Low-Ki, and Da Hit Squad made JAPW their home promotion, and their school was churning out a steady stream of promising prospects. Most of them, like Dixie, Insane Dragon, Deranged, Tony Lazaro, and Rainchild eventually quit the business, but one, Jay Lethal, is currently the man that Ring of Honor is built around. On that note, JAPW wrestlers made up the nucleus of the early ROH roster, and it’s hard t imagine what ROH would look like if there was no JAPW.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDzD9a1pEC0
Frank was usually the head booker, and JAPW featured some of the best show to show storytelling in indie wrestling. The episodic nature of the shows lessened over time, especially once they lost their own building (Charity Hall, a converted A&P supermarket in Bayonne that doubled as the wrestling school) and thus had to run less shows. Still, JAPW continued to hook fans in good storytelling. Most memorably, the feud between Homicide and Teddy Hart that kicked off the post-Charity Hall era.
Eventually, Frank developed a relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. It started with Jushin Thunder Liger appearing on JAPW shows and putting over Homicide, but eventually, it led to a JAPW-hosted “NJPW USA” tour of the northeast in 2011. Attendance was not bad per se, but it wasn’t enough to offset Frank’s costs. The timing just wasn’t quite right: Access to Japanese wrestling footage in the west was at an all-time low, and of the fans who were able t get anything, they were heavily concentrated in the United Kingdom. Three years later, with NJPW having added internet pay-per-views available worldwide, ROH was able to do great business for ROH/NJPW dual branded shows.
Since then, JAPW had only run about once a year. Their anniversary show on November 14th in Rahway was announced with a Rey Mysterio vs. Low-Ki dream match main event, and as of this writing, it’s not yet clear what’s going to happen to that event. Since Frank generally did have some kind of outside investor, it wouldn’t necessarily be a surprise if the show still goes on as a memorial show, but that’s purely speculation on my part.
JAPW was an irreplaceable part of the indie wrestling boom of the 2000s and none of it would happened without Frank Iadevaia. Rest in peace.
– WWE is no longer planning to give Eva Marie an NXT Women’s title push in the immediate future. She continues to train and improve, but she’s not even close to as good of a worker as Bayley, Sasha Banks or Charlotte.
The latest plan is for Bayley to feud with Dana Brooke and Asuka once her feud with Sasha Banks winds down.
– Chris Jericho announced that he’s working on yet another book:
I’m proud to announce that I just approved the deal for my FOURTH book! It’s gonna be something a little different this time…. #staytuned
The talk within WWE right now is that Vince McMahon is putting enormous pressure on the WWE creative team specifically because of the September 21st rating for WWE RAW, which was the post-Night Of Champions edition of the show.
It appears that panic didn’t set in for the low ratings the previous two weeks, as WWE conveniently used the Labor Day holiday and the start of the NFL’s Monday Night Football season as excuses for the low numbers, however when the 9/21 number came in, everything changed.
Generally when WWE runs big angles at a pay-per-view, it is to boost the television ratings the following night, in basic “cliffhanger” fashion, however when WWE took that approach this past weekend and it resulted in an all-time low audience, it was the first time the term “panic” has been thrown around behind-the-scenes in WWE regarding ratings in quite a while.
TNA President Dixie Carter has announced that the October 30th TNA live event in New Orleans will actually be a TNA “One Night Only: Battle of New Orleans” pay-per-view taping.
Below is the announced lineup for the 10/30 pay-per-view taping:

The current belief within WWE right now is that “interesting changes” are expected to happen to SmackDown when the program moves to USA Network in January.
As one would expect, they are looking for a new look for the show once they debut on the new cable network channel, as well as some new ideas for the show itself.
The expectation is the same as in many similar cases in the past, in that WWE will stack the deck for the first month or two, however gradually, once the show is no longer WWE’s “new toy,” it will slowly change back to the same show everyone has been used to for years.
As shown above WWE 2K have released a brand new trailer highlighting the My Career mode which this year gives you a whole new range of options to play through.
In My Career mode in WWE 2K16 your character can now become a big name in WWE NXT, join a tag team, battle the Authority, make it to the Hall of Fame, and much more!
WWE 2K16 will be released on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles in North America on the 27th of October, with the international release a few days later on the 30th of October.
During his match at WWE Night of Champions this past weekend against Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Title, Sting was visibly injured after taking a running powerbomb into the turnbuckle.
On watching the match live and again on demand you could see Sting’s head snap back on contact with the turnbuckle and it was moments later that it was apparent he couldn’t shake this off.
His legs gave way but he got back to his feet, it was a second time that his legs gave way and he collapsed again, it was during this time that the referee paused the match and called in the trainer.
Sting would go on to lose the match to Seth Rollins and since then the rumor mill has been spinning with regards to just how serious Sting’s injury was. He has now spoken with WWE.com. Highlights are below.
WWE.com asked if can set the record straight on the extent of his injury:
Bottom line, I had tingling, numbness down both arms, all the way to my fingertips. And then, later in the match, I just fell wrong, whatever it was, and this time [the tingling and numbness] went down both arms and into my legs, and I couldn’t feel my legs too well. They just felt like rubber. I don’t know how to describe it. I had to go down on all fours there for a minute, get my composure. I was a little … I was worried.
Long term, well, I’m just going to take care of the short term first and see how the long term might play out.
Sting was asked about what treatment he received following his match at Night of Champions:
I was out in the hospital — out like a light. They had a neck brace on me, and they were pumping me with [medication] to get me out of pain. I had to do a CT scan and an MRI. They ended up talking to my wife, and I have some details from my wife, but I still have [further evaluation ahead]. They mentioned cervical spinal stenosis, but that’s only part of what I heard. I don’t know if there’s anything else. The doctor did tell my wife, “He’s going to have to get this dealt with. He’s lucky he walked out of there.”

WWE.com then asked Sting whether or not he would get back into the ring again to which he replied that he would, but only in the right scenario.
Sting went on to explain that he was aware that on both times into the turnbuckle that he was injured, the first being like whiplash and the second being a lot worse.
He also recalled what was going through his mind when the referee stopped the match and he was being looked at by the WWE trainer:
The referee, the doctor, they’re all in there talking to me: “Are you OK? What’s going on? Can you continue? Are you all right? Tell us what’s happening.” And the whole time, I’m just thinking, “Oh, man, not now,” I mean, I want this to be good, you know? And if it ends up being the last thing I ever do in the ring, I don’t want to go out like this.
“God help me.” I’m trying to just shake it off, you know? “C’mon, c’mon.” I’m stamping my feet or moving my toes, just trying to get a feel back, get my legs back underneath me. It started to kind of clear up a little bit. My fingers were still tingling and all that, but my legs were not at that point. I said, “Let me try to continue, let’s just try it.” So I just stood up and walked away from them, and we continued.
