Magnus Talks Leaving TNA, Issues With The Company, Trainwreck Impact Segment

2

Former TNA star Nick “Magnus” Aldis recently appeared as a guest on the Jobbing Out podcast to talk about his TNA departure, among other topics. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On leaving TNA: “When I gave my notice, by the time we got off the phone, I felt like 100 lb weight has been lifted off my back.”

On the locker room: “To be honest, it’s been very turbulent.”

“There were certain things I heard in the conference call, where the talent said things like I’m disgusted by this, or we have the right to know…the thing you have to remember is nobody owes you a living. You don’t have a right to be guaranteed anything.”

On booking issues after Jeff Jarrett left: “He had a good idea of some fundamental parts of booking…When Jeff left, there were a lot of things that I felt that there was a struggle, that when Jeff was there, he would have nipped it in the bud.”

“Guys are undercutting each other…There are too many people willing to come in and take the same spot for less money.”

“You might look like you have this super-great attitude, but you’re f*cking everyone over, because you’re doing things for way too cheap. So now it’s harder for everyone else to justify our pay.”

On that attitude hurting TNA: “You can’t blame the guys paying the money, because their job is to get the best services for the lower prices, but you get what you pay for. And I think that’s something that TNA is experiencing now, and understanding now.”

On the feud with James Storm: “At the beginning, we had a great in-ring segment. We put in loads of great little subtle nuances, and I thought this would be really good…Suddenly we get the word that this is what they want to do with this train thing. I think some of it unfortunately tied in to that they knew I wasn’t going to stay. That was an issue. Nonetheless, when the train thing came about…I’m trying to be as positive as I can. This was one situation that when it was described, I couldn’t find a single person that liked it. I couldn’t find a single person, apart from the guy whose idea it was, that didn’t say “what the hell is that?”

WWE Statement Regarding False Allegations In Recent Lawsuits

9

WWE has responded publicly to the Associated Press story that ran this week regarding the current lawsuits filed against WWE.

WWE issued the following statement on the subject:

WWE Defends Against False Allegations

“WWE filed a lawsuit in Connecticut to protect the company from a series of fraudulent claims made by a Massachusetts attorney regarding alleged concussion-related injuries. A few examples of such false allegations from this lawyer include:

· Claims in two different federal courts that five individuals died prematurely due to head injuries when in fact all five individuals are alive today.

· Falsely stating that an individual’s years of performance with WWE spanned 22 years from 1985 through 2007, when in fact the individual performed for only 2 years (1985-1986 and 1992-1993) and made one appearance in 2007.

· Alleging that head injury led to the death of a morbidly obese former performer who died of a heart attack years after last performing for WWE.

· A claim that an individual suffered from deafness allegedly due to head injury when said individual has publicly stated that he was deaf since birth.

· Claiming that head injury led to the accidental drug overdose of a former performer over 20 years after he last performed.

It is unfortunate that some former performers have been improperly recruited under the guise of a big ‘pay day’, and we feel badly that these individuals are being misled and exploited.”

Video: Ethan Carter III Wins The TNA World Heavyweight Title

25

– Ethan Carter III defeated Kurt Angle on this week’s Impact Wrestling to become the new TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

– The Wolves defeated The Dirty Heels in a 30-minute Iron Man Match on Impact to win the vacant TNA Tag Team Titles. This is their 4th reign in TNA.

WWE Planning More Live Specials, Possible Balor/Owens Spoiler, More

18

The current plan in WWE is to hold a few special events like this Saturday’s “Beast In The East” live WWE Network special from Japan a few times per year whether live or tape-delayed. However, it’s worth noting that WWE views this as broadcasting house shows opposed to it being a major production.

Speaking of this Saturday’s live special, WWE premiered a new documentary on Finn Balor called “The Demon Revealed” that showed his journey to his co-main event match on the show against Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship.

It’s worth noting that everyone is expecting a title switch in the Balor-Owens match, as the belief is Owens is pretty much done with NXT and will transition completely to the main roster exclusively as soon as he drops the title.

21

As noted, at last word, Dolph Ziggler still had yet to sign a new deal with WWE.

The news came after Ziggler indicated to The Boston Herald last week that he had already re-signed with WWE, only to later tell the Chad Dukes Wrestling Show that he was still thinking about it.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ziggler was given a new offer from WWE just a few weeks back, however when he didn’t sign it, it started a lot of speculation.

Ultimately, the current belief within WWE is that Ziggler will re-sign with the company.

Backstage Update On Top Matches For WrestleMania 32

65

Vince McMahon has reportedly made his official decision on the top six matches for next year’s WrestleMania 32 pay-per-view already.

While we don’t know the particulars on the matches yet, we can confirm that Daniel Bryan is not being factored into the equation, as they are still not use if and when he will be able to wrestle again.

The idea of a Sting vs. Undertaker match no longer seems likely, as McMahon has reportedly soured on the idea. McMahon does, however, have other plans for Sting, including a possible WWE Hall Of Fame induction, as he lives in the Dallas area now.

The opponent for John Cena has apparently been decided on, however we do not yet know who he is. McMahon is still looking to do The Rock and Ronda Rousey vs. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in either tag-team action or singles matches against each other. It’s said that because of Rousey’s situation with the UFC, company president Dana White might be more in control of WWE’s WrestleMania main event than McMahon is.

It should be noted, however, that if Rousey is not able to work a match at WrestleMania 32, WWE is still planning to do a Rock vs. Triple H main event.

The Latest On Global Force Wrestling Invading TNA

41

Tonight’s Impact Wrestling will feature Global Force co-founder Jeff Jarrett speaking to Mike Tenay about his return to TNA and the two companies working together.

Here’s the latest buzz regarding what’s about to unfold, courtesy of Wrestling Observer Radio:

– There is in fact an invasion angle about to unfold. The plan is for Jeff Jarrett to gain the trust of TNA President Dixie Carter and then turn heel on her. Jarrett will bring in some GFW and ex-TNA guys to take over Impact.

– Global Force was basically TNA’s last option for an invasion angle after Ring of Honor turned them down. There is no longer a working relationship with Wrestle-1 and AAA is already affiliated with Lucha Underground.

– The most recent round of TNA TV tapings (which were filmed before Slammiversary and will begin airing tonight) did not feature any invasion angles, but it will probably start with backstage segments that can be spliced into the shows.

– Despite Global Force announcing that they’ve signed Magnus, he’s not actually signed, but will be working GFW live events.

Comment below and tell us what you think about the idea of Global Force Wrestling taking over TNA.

The official synopsis of the episode, titled, Diva Divide, reads:

“In the Season 4 premiere, the Bellas face the consequences of quitting the WWE; at the same time, news of Eva’s new role causes chaos in the Divas division; and Nattie explores her dominatrix side.”

Tyson doesn’t take the instruction well and storms out of the house.

Vampiro Talks Lucha Underground, Ultima Lucha, WCW Ruining His Career

12

Lucha Underground commentator and wrestling star Vampiro recently talked with the team over at Ring Rust Radio.

Vampiro talked about a number of topics including Lucha Underground and the recent “Ultima Lucha” show, his relationship with Konnan, where his character’s inspiration comes from, his memories of WCW, and much more. You can read a few excerpts below:

Lucha Underground & How He Views His Role On The Show:

“I would like to say hello first of all and thank you for having me on your show. Real quick, I’m not the lead anything, I’m part of a phenomenal team and my partner Matt Striker kind of carries the ball a lot more than I do. I am just really glad to be there. Sometimes it’s really frustrating to me watching it because it’s so exciting and I wish I could still be in there. The whole experience is pretty exciting for me, everything from the talent, the phenomenal athleticism of the guys, the crowd reaction, and the whole vibe. I’ve been around the wrestling business since 1984 and I have never seen anything as cool and smooth as this. I think it’s just scratching the surface of what’s to come and it’s only going to grow. The whole concept of how they do the TV show and how we are going to take a break, nothing like this has ever been done before. You know very well that in this stage of the game it’s very hard to do something new. The way we do wrestling and the business is going to catch a fans eye and bring new people into the game. I think Lucha Underground is breaking ground and we won’t know the impact just yet since its just starting.”

Lucha Underground’s “Ultima Lucha” Season Finale:

“Devastation. It was a wild night man let me tell you. I have seen and done a lot in this business all over and in different countries since 1984. That show we did was a pretty insane night. For me personally, I would say it was the top of the game and definitely number one. For the fans, holy shit, that was the first time you could actually feel a building shake from the response of the fans. It was pretty intense.”

His memories of WCW:

“I don’t have anything good to say unfortunately, I wish I did though. I was newly married at the time, I was a kid from a small town and I made it to the big leagues I had finally made it. I felt in my heart and soul that the biggest mistake of my career going to WCW. I was at the point of hitting my peak, I was still an innovator, I was hungry, and I think I could have been somebody. I had the chance to go to All Japan and make a career there since I had spent some time because of my years working in Mexico. Something was telling me at the time to try the American style so I did and went to WCW. The fans there were really cool, but it was the most depressing time of my life there. It kind of ruined the business for me and I never was really happy in the business since. All the drama, bullshit, lies, manipulation, the abuse, it was a horrible, horrible experience. The only highlights were the cool relationship I had with the fans and when I got the championship belt with Muta who was my hero in wrestling. Everything else was fucking brutal, I hate it, I regret it, and I wish it didn’t happen. I really think that is what ruined my career.

You know it could have been better but they just didn’t get me and I was just ahead of my time, I really believe that. I was in the wrong place with all the old school Carolina people at the time. I was a punk rock kid and they kept telling me I had to be a heel. I told them let me go and you will see. When I started to and they saw me they saw the people loved it. Then they tried saying to me that I was Mexican. No, you fucking guys I have been doing this for 18 years, I’m Canadian, I have been everywhere, give me a fucking chance. I really hated it and have nothing good to say about it. One other good thing that comes to mind now, I really enjoyed my time learning and making a friend out of Terry Taylor. That person really helped me out a lot. Because of my time with him is why I am able to do what I do today behind the scenes with the younger guys.”

Ted DiBiase Interview: Dusty Rhodes’ Passing, Working With Jake Roberts & More

0

WWE Hall of Famer “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase recently appeared on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast to discuss the passing of Dusty Rhodes, Mid-South Wrestling and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Memories of working in Mid-South:

“Mid-South is what started my whole career. The owner of Mid-South Wrestling, “Cowboy’ Bill Watts was and is extremely intelligent and unbelievable at understanding the psychology of our industry and I probably learned more from him then just about anybody. Naming all the guys that came from Mid-South (Jake Roberts, Jim Duggan, Junkyard Dog), they didn’t just come out wrestlers they came out as Superstars. I never actually got a chance to wrestle Jake in Mid-South but my biggest move is when I finally turned from “good” guy to “bad” guy on Junkyard Dog. JYD had a tremendous run down there. JYD really is what started me into becoming an accomplished heel.”

His “Loser Leaves Town” match against “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan:

“Me, Duggan and (Matt) Borne had the Rat Pack. Duggan became a baby face and I had a great run with Hacksaw. The “Loser Leaves Town” Match was like the Gimmick Matches of all Gimmick Matches. We were dressed in tuxedos, we were inside of a steel cage, there was a 12 ft. pole attached to the ring with a loaded coal miners glove that if you got it you could use and on top of all that it was a “Loser Leaves Town” Match.”

Bill Watts and Mid-South being the first to run in a dome:

“When you talk about running big venues, obviously the WWE has sold out arenas all over the world throughout the years and it seems like every WrestleMania sets a new record. But, I believe l and I’m not mistaken that the first guy to run a dome was Bill Watts when he ran The Superdome. Obviously he didn’t sell it out but that is probably the largest crowd that I remember wrestling in front of at that time.”

His match against Jake Roberts at WrestleMania 6:

“I loved wrestling Jake all the time. He was easy. As wrestlers call it “doing the dance” and Jake and I dance well together. When you are on the same wavelength and share the same psychology of what a match should be, we had that. I was the heel and Jake was the baby face and it was actually one of the WrestleMania’s where I actually won. But the only reason I won was because post WrestleMania he and I were still going to be working all the time. WrestleMania VI I would say is my favorite WrestleMania match. My first one, WrestleMania IV was the tournament where the champion would be crowned, the last match I had with Randy Savage was a good match and I loved working Randy but Jake is one of those guys I worked so well with.”

Dusty Rhodes passing away:

“Wrestling lost an unbelievable wrestler and incredible entertainer, but I lost a close friend. My relationship with Dusty goes all the way back to the beginning of my career. I am one of the guys like Dusty that was on the football team at West Texas State. I was there with Tito Santana, Tully Blanchard and a lot of wrestlers came out of West Texas State. I had actually met Dusty at Dick Murdoch’s house in Amarillo, Texas and when I started in the business, Dusty had already had the reputation of being great. A lot of people look at him and say well he had a sloppy body but what you have to understand was Dusty could have a technical match that I’m known for having . Dusty worked his gimmick and that is “the son of a plumber” and that he was the average man and say that I look like the “common man”. When he became NWA World Champion he said to me that “there were a lot of guys that don’ t think I can carry this belt, but I can do it”. When he came to the WWE, Vince (McMahon) made him the guy in polka dots and Dusty didn’t throw a big fit about the whole thing and he took that and did it extremely well. That’s actually the only time we were able to work a real program and I had the opportunity to wrestle Dusty often. I also helped break in his son Dustin and even to this day Cody and my son (Ted Dibiase Jr.) who were tag team partners are very close friends. My heart goes out to Michelle his wife and those boys.”

Jake Roberts Interview: How DDP Yoga Changed His Life, Favorite Career Moments

1

WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts recently appeared on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast to discuss his health, DDP Yoga and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

How DDP Yoga has changed his life:

“I feel absolutely unbelievable. To go from where I was to where I am now in the last three years it seems like a crazy roller coaster ride. I had given up on life. I am a poster-boy now. I showed what you can do with the help of DDP Yoga and that you can still have good times in your life.”

Keeping up with the program:

“It’s not bad. It’s not hard work because being skinny is good. It’s about doing the right things and making sure the next day you wake up with a smile on your face because it makes it a whole lot easier. When you start off slow and build up gradually and you do it smart after a while it becomes second nature. Your body starts to really feel good.”

Staying dedicated:

“Making the decision to do it was real scary and I’ll be honest with you I didn’t think I would last more than a week. I was drinking and doing cocaine every day and to quit that cold turkey was hard. Nobody does that cold turkey, but I did. Once I got started it was actually easy. Each day I just looked at as one day and then another day, then another and it just started to add up and the next you know I’m on one month, two months, three months and your off.”

Slapping Miss Elizabeth and working with Randy Savage:

“It was really strong with Randy. He was really high octane. It was a fight every night but we worked hard and absolutely punished each other. When I slapped Elizabeth, he wanted to kill me but you know what, he wasn’t the only one.”

Standout memories from his career:

Definitely Mid-South where The Grappler and I invented the DDT, and of course anytime wrestling Andre The Giant was awesome. But Ricky Steamboat was one of the best I worked with no doubt. I enjoyed the time with him. That DDT on the floor in Providence was not a good idea and I tried to warn him but nobody listened to me (laughs). I still have a lot of great moments left. I’ve been so very fortunate to be in the ring with some of the greatest superstars to ever live.”

– On this week’s episode of RAW, Cesaro was the one to answer John Cena’s United States Championship Open Challenge and the pair put on a near twenty minute match.

The match came to an end when Kevin Owens, who was sat at ringside on commentary got involved and attacked Cesaro during a Sharpshooter leaving the match to end in a DQ.

Fans noticed during the match however that for a brief moment the screen went black while Cesaro was delivering some European uppercuts on the champ.

The former United States Champion decided to flip off John Cena (as shown below) and either WWE’s production team or the USA Network decided to black the screen momentarily.
