TNA Announces Maximum Impact 8 UK Tour For January 2016

2

TNA Wrestling announced the 8th annual Maximum Impact Tour of the UK taking place January 2016. Here’s the press release, detailing their efforts to make this the family-friendly experience fans have been asking for.

TNA IMPACT WRESTLING TO RETURN TO THE UK WITH MOST FAN FRIENDLY TOUR EVER

TNA IMPACT WRESTLING today announces its most fan friendly tour ever – when some of the biggest names in professional wrestling return to the United Kingdom in January 2016 for the colossal MAXIMUM IMPACT 8 Tour.

With huge live events set for Manchester, London and Birmingham, this year’s Tour is going back to its roots. Following direct fan feedback to make the shows the best experience ever, the MAXIMUM IMPACT 8 Tour will feature family-friendly event timings and ticket packages, money off TNA merchandise and an all-new exclusive VIP Experience – as well as special giveaways and entertainment throughout the show itself.

The Tour will also feature all the elements fans love most about TNA – from the high-flying, no-limits X Division to the lovely and lethal Knockouts to the best tag team action on the planet. The fans themselves will play a big role in these incredible shows too, with the loudest rewarded with backstage passes and other treats.

TNA President Dixie Carter said: “After every UK Tour, fans reach out on Twitter and Facebook to tell me exactly what they loved about the shows and any improvements they would like to see.

“In direct response to that feedback, when we come back to Manchester, London and Birmingham in January 2016, there will be a lot more action outside of the ring leading up to and during the event!

“And from special ticket prices to a brand new VIP Experience, giving fans unparalleled access to their favourite professional athletes, it’s our way of saying thank you and giving something back to the loudest, rowdiest, craziest and most loyal wrestling fans on the planet.”

TNA today also reveals a world-renowned initial roster for the MAXIMUM IMPACT 8 Tour of Kurt Angle, Lashley, Matt Hardy, Eric Young, James Storm, Bobby Roode, EC3, Rockstar Spud, Taryn Terrell, Brooke, Robbie E, Bram and Mark Andrews*. Many more top TNA Superstars and Knockouts will be announced in the coming months.

Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday May 29 here and will cost from just £17.50 (£20 for London), plus venue fees. Special family packages discount the cost further.

WWE Payback Results – May 17, 2015

WWE Payback 2015 PPV Opener:

After the usual bad ass video package opener, we shoot live into the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland for tonight’s WWE Payback pay-per-view.

Michael Cole welcomes us to the show and then Sheamus’ theme music hits. Our first WWE Payback pay-per-view match is about to get underway.

Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler

Sheamus makes his way to the ring and after that, Dolph Ziggler’s theme music hits and out he comes. Highlights are shown of the “Kiss Me Arse” match from Extreme Rules.

The bell sounds and here we go. Early on, surprisingly enough, Ziggler is in control, as he has Sheamus selling his knee. Sheamus eventually ovrturns the control but it doesn’t last long, as Ziggler starts stringing together another offensive series.

While Ziggler was in control of the offense for a long enough time, he got Sheamus in the corner and wiped his face all over his ass. Sheamus rolled out to the floor and sold it big time. Back in the ring, Ziggler hits the FameAsser for the close nearfall.

Sheamus staets blasting the hell out of Ziggler and now Ziggler is bleeding like crazy. The blood is believed to be from a head butt. The action is stopped to check the cut. Once the action resumes, Sheamus immediately blasts Ziggler with a Brogue Kick for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Sheamus

Backstage: Kane & Seth Rollins

Backstage, Kane sees Seth Rollins and J&J Security approach him. Rollins asks Kane to forget their differences and cooperate tonight. Kane refuses. He and Rollins argue back and forth. Kane says Rollins gets his wish, if he wins, Kane is no longer Director of Operations, but if he doesn’t, Kane gets his wish and Rollins loses the WWE title.

2-Out-Of-3 Falls WWE Tag-Team Titles: The New Day vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro

The New Day comes out and one-by-one they each address the fans in Baltimore. The fans chant “New Day-sucks! New Day-sucks!” They trash one of the Baltimore Orieals in the crowd.

Out next is Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, accompanied by Natalya, for this two-out-of-three falls WWE Tag-Team title match. The bell sounds and here we go. Big E. and Kofi Kingston are representing The New Day as champions in this one.

The New Day controls the action early on, but in the end, Kidd nails Kingston, Cesaro follows up with big the Big Swing into a Kidd dropkick for the 1-2-3. Kidd and Cesaro win the first fall.

After a lengthy back-and-forth second fall, with Kidd isolated in the action by the two active members of the New Day. Eventually, The New Day hits a big double team move for the 1-2-3. The falls are now 1-1. Next fall wins.

The two teams gio back and forth again, with Kidd and Cesaro hitting the coolest set of double-team moves — possibly of all-time. In the end, Cesaro is knocked down and robbed, as Xavier Woods, who wasn’t legally in the match, jumps in when the ref wasn’t looking and rolls him up for the 1-2-3 and the final fall, retaining the titles for The New Day.

Winners 2-1 and STILL WWE Tag-Team Champions: The New Day

Bray Wyatt vs. Ryback

After a particularly kick-ass video package, Bray Wyatt makes his way to the ring for his one-on-one contest with Ryback.

Ryback comes out next, the bell sounds and here we go. Early on, Ryback uses his strength to dominate the methodical Bray Wyatt.

After a few minutes of domination, Wyatt turns the tables by simply launching himself into Ryback off the ropes, similar to a brutal sack in football.

Wyatt gets Ryback to the floor and works him over out there, Wyatt dives off the apron and flips onto Ryback on the floor, Ryback screams in pain.

A Cena-like “let’s go Wyatt” and “Wyatt sucks” dueling chant breaks out. Ryback hits Wyatt with a big splash off the top rope for a close nearfall.

Wyatt goes for Sistai Abigail, but Ryback reverses into a Shellshock attempt. Wyatt escapes and slams Ryback into a turnbuckle with the padding exposed, right into a Sister Abigail. 1-2-3. Wyatt wins.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

– Speaking of the NXT Albany event on Saturday night, Triple H tweeted the following photo of Kevin Owens making his entrance for the triple-threat main event with Finn Balor and Tyler Breeze, which he went on to win via pinfall.

Finn Balor’s Entrance Messed Up At NXT Albany Show (Video), Balor Comments, More

15

– Finn Balor’s ring entrance was screwed up during the NXT live event in Albany, New York on Saturday night. NXT had a few issues with the sound system throughout the show, but the most glaring issue came during Balor’s entrance for the main event. Tyler Breeze came out first to his usual ring music and had to stall in the ring for several minutes while the NXT production crew was presumably working on fixing whatever the issue was. Unfortunately, they didn’t fix it fast enough, so Balor ended up coming out to no music. By the time he hit the ring and was posing in the corners, his music finally played. Kevin Owens would follow as the third competitor in the triple-threat main event, and by that point, the audio issues had been cleared up.

Balor tweeted the following about his entrance mix-up on Saturday, and re-tweeted the following video of the entrance itself.

https://twitter.com/mrskimboto/status/599787866055663617

– NXT Diva Bayley’s boyfriend Aaron Solow posted the following audition video for the new season of WWE Tough Enough. In the video, Solow addresses the fact that he’s dating Bayley in real life.

Brie Bella Not Injured, Sami Zayn Trademark, Jason Albert Proud Of NXT Crew

5

– Brie Bella ended up working the WWE live event in Atlantic City on Saturday night, so apparently whatever injury she suffered during the Friday show wasn’t that bad, or she wasn’t injured at all and it was simply part of the match.

– WWE filed a trademark for former NXT Champion Sami Zayn back on May 12th.

– The new NXT head trainer Jason Albert tweeted the following message about NXT’s three live events outside of Florida this weekend. WWE ran two NXT events in Philadelphia and one in Albany, New York this weekend.

Batista Takes Shot At WWE Creative Over How Titus O’Neil Is Being Used

42

As announced on Friday, Titus O’Neil has been named Celebrity Dad of the Year in 2015 MEGA Dads Awards.

Batista, who O’Neil has credited with influencing him to try out for WWE in the late 2000s—he was immediately signed—congratulated him on the honor via Twitter.

Batista immediately followed-up the message with a swipe at WWE’s creative team.

He wrote, “WWE: “@TitusONeilWWE you’re everything a WWE star should be! Get out there and represent our company!! ” Titus: “Then why don’t you give me a push?’ WWE: “Sorry there’s nothing for you creatively” #sameoldbullshit.”

Batista has long felt that O’Neil is underutilized by WWE. “The Animal” said last August during an interview promoting Guardians of the Galaxy that he would like to work with him when he returns to WWE.

“I also have a really close friend, Thaddeus Bullard, who is Titus O’Neil and he’s actually a really close friend. I think there is a lot that remains to be seen from him and I don’t think they’re doing him justice, they aren’t really using him to his full ability and I’d love to be that guy that kind of brings him up to the next level, so if I could accomplish that, that would be great,” said Batista.

Brie Bella Injured During WWE Live Event On Friday Night?

8

WWE Diva Brie Bella may have suffered an injury during Friday night’s WWE live event in State College, Pennsylvania.

According to an eye-witness account from a fan who attended the event, Brie landed on her shoulder awkwardly while brawling with Tamina Snuka during a Divas tag-team match which featured The Bella Twins against Tamina Snuka and Naomi.

From there, the referee threw up the “X” sign and trainers ran to the scene to check on Brie.

After the match, which The Bella Twins won, Tamina and Naomi continued the attack as they assaulted Nikki Bella until Paige returned and made the save.

Jesse Sorensen On What Led To His TNA Release, If He Wants To Join NXT & More

0

Former TNA star Jesse Sorensen recently appeared as a guest on the Pancakes and Powerslams Podcast to talk about how he parted ways with TNA and if he has interest in joining NXT.

Below are some highlights from the interview:

On whether there were legitimate hard feelings with Zema Ion: “It was up and down. The thing that fired me up and wanted to wrestle again was TNA used my story of breaking my neck to get Zema over, which was cool. Owen Hart did it with Stone Cold, so it happens, but I hadn’t talked to anybody from TNA about that or anything. I was like, ‘oh I’ll watch TNA,’ and I turned it on and watched that and was like, ‘Oh, wrestling is gonna get a bit real when I come back.’ I didn’t talk to him for probably six months after I broke my neck. Him and I got on the phone and talked for about an hour and squashed everything. I think we both kinda put each other in each other’s shoes. From my situation, I thought I was just sitting at home with a broken neck and this dude just didn’t call me, and the way I thought of it is if I did that to him, I would be calling everyday. He felt so bad that he didn’t know what to say, so that was why I never heard from him. So we squashed it and we’re cool now.”

On what happened in between that time that eventually led to his TNA release: “I did learn a lot from [the backstage position], but I always wanted to wrestle and be a wrestler. I remember sending videos like every week to Bruce Prichard and Dixie [Carter] of me wrestling, but it never seemed to go anywhere. I don’t know on there end if creative just didn’t have something planned for me or what the deal was. But I was appreciative of my time there, doing the production thing, and although I did want to come back and wrestle there, I guess it wasn’t what they had planned at the time. I guess they were doing budget cuts and my position wasn’t really needed.”

On whether it’s a desire of his to be on NXT: “Actually, I watch NXT every week and that product has gotten huge. It’s its own WWE, pretty much. The people they have there are really talented wrestlers. They have a lot of names that came from Ring of Honor and the indy scene that are really cool, and I see a lot of guys on there that I know I can have good matches with. And, if that opportunity presents itself, that would be something I’d definitely consider. I know there was a point were people were kinda wondering who the next stars are gonna be, but NXT stepped up and showed them that they’re gonna be just fine.”

Final Rating & Viewership Breakdown For This Week’s SmackDown

1

The Thursday, May 14, 2015, WWE Payback “go-home” edition of WWE SmackDown scored a final cable rating of 1.79, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The 1.79 number marks a pretty significant decrease compared to last week’s show, which finished with a 1.86 cable rating.

Thursday’s SmackDown averaged 2.528 million viewers, which was also down from the previous week’s show, as the May 7th edition of SmackDown drew 2.575 million viewers.

It’s worth noting that SmackDown this week went up against an NBA Playoff game. However, it’s also worth pointing out that the episode of SmackDown that aired this time last year (May 16, 2014) went up against the NFL Draft and the NBA Playoffs, and still delivered a 1.77 rating with 2.485 million viewers.

Bayley Talks Training With Sara Del Rey, Working With Charlotte, Her WWE Legacy

17

NXT Diva Bayley recently spoke with AfterBuzz TV about a number of topics. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On how it’s different working with Sara Del Rey compared to the male NXT trainers and how Del Rey has changed the women’s division down at NXT: “I’ve trained with men before I got here and now training with Sara…Sara understand the women’s side of you too…It’s always been kind of a dream to train with Sara Del Rey. Even before I got here, before Sara was the trainer, I remember emailing her, wanting to move actually to Philly, wanting to move to wherever she was to train under her wing and learn from her. It’s really cool that now I do.”

On getting started in pro wrestling: “There was this whole promotion by my house, it was called Big Time Wrestling in Newark, California. I started going to their shows when I was 13…I would go to every single one of them. I knew once I turned 18, because that was their age limit, I wanted to start training with them. So I showed up and the promoter [Jason Styles] because I actually got close to him throughout the years, the promoter actually sat down with me and called my mom and asked her if it was okay, ‘So I have Bayley here with me and she wants to start training. Does she have your permission?’ And she’s like, ‘Well, it scares me but she’s right there in front of you and I’m going to support her the rest of the way.’ I was the only girl in the class, I started with four other guys, but within a month they were gone. So I had been the only girl for such a long time.”

On what she wants her WWE legacy to be: “This started as I was a kid, since I started training. The thing I want out of it is for women’s wrestling to be looked at in a whole other way. I want us to be able to main event pay per views. I want people to buy tickets to come see us. I want them to buy a ticket and say, ‘I want to see Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Becky, Bayley, everybody.’ I want them to buy tickets to see us. But the main thing, and I think all of us here, we just want the girls in the crowd, the kids to feel motivated or inspired to do whatever they want to do. It doesn’t have to be wrestling.

On why she enjoys working with Charlotte: “I mean, Charlotte is amazing. Who wouldn’t want to team up with Charlotte? I’ve been in so many battles with her, so I know what it’s like to be against her, because I’ve failed so many times. One day I will beat her. I know what a great competitor she is…she’s a Flair. We have a really good chemistry together, no matter if we’re against each other in the ring or if we’re teaming up together, we just have a really good bond.”
