Melina Denies Cheating On Johnny Mundo With Batista

34

Former WWE Diva Melina was a guest on The Ross Report podcast this week, which you can listen to at PodcastOne.com.

She spoke about a number of topics, including her WWE run, what she’s doing these days and more. She also commented on the long standing rumors that she cheated on her ex-boyfriend, Lucha Underground star, with Batista.

Jim Ross Blog: Potential Bill DeMott Lawsuits, Global Force TV Deal & More

1

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog update, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

Projects He’s Working On: “We had some productive meetings in LA the past couple of days and my itch to get back into some form of play by play needs scratching. Boxing and MMA folks are speaking with us and where that goes is anyone’s guess but I’m told that it looks positive multiple fronts.”

Potential Lawsuits Over Bill DeMott: “Contingency attorneys must be licking their chops on the thought of expected litigation on the allegations directed to the Bill DeMott matter. If I were them I might not spend that money just yet. ”

NXT: “Smart move by WWE to tour outside their home base of Florida as it helps the talents in a multitude of ways. Poor travelers don’t make great roster members in my view. Plus, by booking some experienced talents with the younger ones the ‘rookies’ will improve exponentially faster. Fact: rookies cannot improve as needed working only with other rookies.”

Global Force Wrestling: “Getting lots of questions about what’s next for Global Force Wrestling and I expect Jeff Jarrett to address this matter after WrestleMania. However if he does to a series of TV tapings I do think that doing them in Las Vegas is a splendid idea. Begs the question, if Jeff actually is planning on taping TV, could a network deal be too far behind? Yes, Jeff and I are talking but there is no “deal” on the table at this time.”

WWE Expecting Lawsuits Related To Bill DeMott Controversy

28

The belief is that former NXT head trainer Bill DeMott, who resigned from WWE last week, received a significant severance package on his way out of the company.

WWE is apparently expecting lawsuits to be filed as a result of the controversy surrounding DeMott and their developmental system, which is why they were careful in making it clear that they admit no wrong doing in their official statements regarding the situation.

Additionally, there was said to be a feeling that some WWE employees were aware of the complaints, but didn’t expect so many people to come forward because generally everyone aims to stay in their good graces, as it’s everyone’s dream to work and/or return to WWE one day.

It’s also being said that some of the people speaking out right now, while they were still in WWE, they were asked about the allegations and at the time, they said the stories were untrue.

Roman Reigns Praises Paul Heyman, Talks About Feeling Pressure To Live Up To Expectations

23

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns recently spoke with The Sun in the U.K. to promote WrestleMania 31. Below are highlights from the interview.

On the pressure he feels to keep up with his legendary family: “Everybody has a story about my family, it seems. It is really neat to get all the perspective from everybody over the years. For me to live this life that so many of my family members have already lived and experienced, it is a really neat process. Every town I go to I feel like I’m walking in their footsteps. The ironic thing is this is my ship now, I’m the captain here.”

On working with Paul Heyman: “Paul’s a great source for any superstar. He’s been all over the world, he’s been in so many different promotions, he’s seen so many different things and he’s learned from the greatest to ever set foot in this industry. So any time I get to interact with him, on camera or off, it is a great experience.

“He’s a very personable guy, very easy to talk to. But sometimes you have to watch people like that, you just never know. He’s a very smart man and he knows everything that he’s doing. For me, I enjoy my interaction with him, he knows my family very well. He met me when I was just a little guy all the way to what I am now. To have that type of history with someone, for him to know my family in a different light than I may is very cool, very interesting for me and I always like catching up with him.”

Jeff Jarrett Having Trouble Securing TV Deal For GFW, Details On A Concept He Has Tried Pitching

27

Jeff Jarrett has been having issues finding a paid television deal for a weekly show for his upstart Global Force Wrestling (GFW) promotion.

According to television industry sources, Jarrett has proposed a concept for a show to at least one network, which is said to be a channel without full national clearance, and likely some additional networks, however he hasn’t been able to secure a deal for whatever that concept is.

Jarrett’s current idea is to do a test-run live show that would feature wrestlers from the independent scene, AAA and New Japan Pro Wrestling all working under the GFW banner.

It’s been speculated that Jarrett will be making some kind of announcement regarding GFW’s future later this month. In fact, at one point it was reported that Jarrett would be announcing a GFW television taping in Las Vegas in the near future, as he has been in negotiations with an arena in Las Vegas that would be the official home for GFW.

WWE Scouting ROH Talent, Backstage News On NXT Call-Ups

43

WWE officials are interested in signing several wrestlers from Ring of Honor and are waiting for the contracts of key talents to expire so they can begin negotiations, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Over the last year, the recruiting philosophy of NXT has changed quite a bit. While WWE was originally looking to sign wrestlers with little in-ring experience in an effort to build them completely from the ground up, WWE is putting much more of an emphasis on signing top stars from the indy scene.

Regarding NXT call-ups, there’s still no word on when NXT Champion Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn will be brought up to the main roster. NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks, Adrian Neville and Charlotte are seen as the next round of call-ups. WWE typically introduces new talent right after WrestleMania, so we could see Neville, Zayn or Charlotte on WWE TV as soon as next month.

Dolph Ziggler Interview: IC Championship, Daniel Bryan & More

4

Dolph Ziggler recently spoke with Ring Rust Radio about the Intercontinental Title Match at WrestleMania 31, Daniel Bryan and more. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Restoring Prestige to the Intercontinental Championship:

“Well to restore prestige, you’d have to do something similar to what I did a couple of months ago. I finally beat Miz for the title, and then constantly, The Authority wanted to take it off me. So it became that much more exciting because every Monday, every Thursday, every weekend, every pay-per-view I was defending that title. They were trying to stick it to me, and you didn’t know if I was going to win it or if I was going to lose it because the odds were stacked against me. Or you thought that whether they are trying to take it off him or not, it’s constantly being defended, and I think that was the right track in starting it to get seen as the workhorse title that gets put on the line all the time.

Brock Lesnar is not always around, this could be the up-and-coming title, and for a couple of months I defended that thing 20 times and that’s the absolute way to get that title more prestigious. It’s obviously on the back burner right now; there’s other stories going on, it’s not the top story right now, and I’m not going to pretend it is. My goal is when I’m given an inch I try to take a mile. So when I had that title, I was always wanting to defend it, tell Triple H to call whoever he wants, have him at ringside, because the more I defended it, it slowly began to gain prestige as a title that wasn’t just a workhorse title, but a title that was going to be defended sometimes, and that’s what needs to happen.”

The IC Title Ladder Match at WrestleMania:

“Here’s the deal, ladder matches are crazy; the Intercontinental title is starting to barely mean something again, not just to me, but the fans. I’ll say what I always say going into WrestleMania: You’re going to see Sting, you’re going to see Brock Lesnar, you’re going to see John Cena, so my goal and the chip on my shoulder’s goal is to have you talking about my match the next day. I promise you, there are so many hungry guys in there who want to prove to everyone just how damn good they really are. It’s going to be hard for me to keep up, but trust me I will.

Campaigning On Twitter For A WrestleMania Match With Daniel Bryan:

“I randomly suggested it. I was pissed at my Royal Rumble match, I was pissed. I felt bad about Daniel Bryan with the entire world behind him and getting shot out after a couple of minutes. So I thought I have this chip on my shoulder, he’s got a chip on his shoulder, why the hell don’t we show people who the real main event match should be? If you want to pretend that there is no story, what are you kidding me? This guy went from nothing to being the biggest chanted name in this business; he changed history in the main event of WrestleMania that he was not supposed to be in.

I, on the other hand, on a slightly smaller scale, was told that I would never be champion. I would never be Money in the Bank winner, I would never have the chance to be on top here, and damn it I earned it. I said, You know what? Daniel without these people behind you, I don’t know what type of situation you would be in right now, maybe mine, but if you want to prove who is better, this isn’t about who can steal the show—this is about who the real main event is in this business should be.

I sure as hell wasn’t going out there to shake his hand and shake his hand after. I was out there to kick his ass and prove that I’m the best. It’s unfortunate it didn’t happen because there was a little buzz all based on me suggesting to him let’s show the WWE Universe what a main event should be, and I dare someone to try to follow that. It didn’t happen, but I don’t quit. I come up with my own stuff on my own time before, that almost turned into something, so that means maybe next time it will turn into something.”

Dr. Tom Prichard Shoots On WWE’s “Thorough Investigation” Into Bill DeMott

10

Dr. Tom Prichard, former WWE developmental head trainer, posted a message on Twitter regarding the Bill DeMott situation and the “thorough investigation” WWE claims to have conducted. He wrote (@drtomprichard):

“U know, with all the allegations coming out from not just a couple, but a LOT of people, you’d think there would have been a more thorough investigation… For Christ’s sake, a PICTURE is worth 1000 words! How in the hell does anyone justify or defend that? I can’t imagine the incredible arrogance, incompetence and outright “don’t give a damn, I’m the boss and I’m going to run this place ‘my way” attitude is unbelievable. One, two, maybe five disgruntled employees I can see… But more and more are coming forward every day! It’s not like no one knew!!! Why wasn’t something done a long time ago? Hell, why was he even hired to come back and train anybody in the first place? Replace me, OK. I did call Canyon Cemen [Senior Director of Talent Development] a “Flaming F’N Asshole” to his face and for that I probably should have been fired. Using the excuse of not having a one year start to finish curriculum was a rib, but I get it. But when a talent(s) sends a confidential email and you claim to do a “full investigation” when in fact you didn’t, then why isn’t someone asking the question “Hey Canyon! Just who did you talk to, what did you ask them and by the way, what did you think of the picture of Gallows with a jelly doughnut in his ass giving Ryder the stink face??” Was THAT in YOUR goddam curriculum? I’ve remained silent but I have a lot to say. When the time’s right. But the more shit I see, the more pissed I get. They can’t claim ignorance. Stupidity, yes. But there were people in key positions who knew about his past and chose to ignore it. Why?”

Flair On Cena Possibly Breaking His Title Record, Hornswoggle Takes Shot At Stardust

34

– WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair said during a Q&A held at “The Arnold” this past weekend in Ohio that he doesn’t know if John Cena will beat his record for the most reigns as World Heavyweight Champion, but he would be happy if he does because he feels Cena is a hard worker. One fan suggested that Flair wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania, to which Flair said he would love to do it, telling everyone that they should e-mail that idea to Vince McMahon.

– WWE Superstar Hornswoggle took a shot at Cody Rhodes on Twitter this week, which was said to come out of nowhere. He tweeted the following to the account that Rhodes uses separate from his official “Stardust” account.

More Issues With Bill DeMott In NXT, Talent Frustrated With Triple H Showing Favoritism?

23

Following former NXT head trainer Bill DeMott’s resignation from WWE, additional stories are starting to come out about him.

One in particular has to do with the Kevin Owens vs. CJ Parker match at the NXT Takeover: R Evolution event back in December. The match that we ended up seeing was the one that the three worked out together ahead of time.

Between not liking Owens, the big guy, doing a flip-dive and not working so many moves into the opening match, DeMott reportedly did not like the match.

Prior to the match, Owens reportedly complained to Triple H about what was planned, to which HHH told him to simply let Owens do what he wants.

This apparently led to some issues, as many felt that Triple H allows “his guys” to do whatever they want while the rest of the guys are said to be micro-managed and told not to wrestle the “independent style” of matches that they are used to.

Brock Lesnar & Vince McMahon Unable To Resolve Contract Dispute Backstage At Monday’s RAW

69

As far as the contract issues between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon that took place backstage at RAW a few weeks ago, it’s said that nothing has changed. While Lesnar was at this week’s RAW, apparently they were still unable to resolve whatever issues they are dealing with.

Currently, the situation is described as one where Lesnar and McMahon are both refusing to budge regarding Lesnar’s potential new deal with the company. To finalize the deal, the belief is that one, or both, will have to budge on the terms that they are currently sticking by. The feeling is that both McMahon and Lesnar are aware of this fact, and there is said to be pressure on Lesnar to be the first to cave.

Alberto El Patron Talks Rey Mysterio Coming To Lucha Underground, Ricardo Rodriguez & More

3

Alberto El Patron recently spoke with the folks at Ring Rust Radio to talk about a number of Lucha Underground related topics. Below are highlights from the interview.

On Lucha Underground’s instant impact and whether it can become a viable contender with the top wrestling companies in the United States: “Oh, yes, of course. Lucha Underground is a fantastic product. They have the right people talent and backing up the product. I am 100 percent sure that this company is going to be one of the top three wrestling companies around the World at the end of this year.”

On the the major differences that help set Lucha Underground apart and make it so unique: “Lucha Underground is different than basic Mexican lucha libre. They are combing all the great styles out there into one. They are taking the best out of the Japanese, American, and lucha libre style and making them into one. It’s one unique style that all the fans are enjoying. I have been dong the wrestling shows all over the world. People are stopping me and telling me how much they enjoy the product and how different it is. The fans said they have been waiting for something like this that they can watch and enjoy every week.”

On pressure to be the top star: “I never put pressure on myself because I know who I am and where I come from. Everybody knows I work every single day, I never rest, and I always work to give my best to the fans. At the end of the day, we work for the fans. They are the ones buying the tickets and watching us on TV so we can get our paychecks at the end of the week.”

On what can wrestling fans expect from El Texano Jr and what separates him from the rest of the stars in the company: “He is a fantastic wrestler with a great background in Mexican lucha libre. He has been wrestling for 15 years now and started in Mexico and then went to Japan. He spent like 5 or 6 years working for New Japan which is the biggest company out there. He is a second generation wrestler who was born in this business just like myself. He is one of the major superstars in Mexico and they can expect a lot from him. Not only from him, but all the wrestlers in Lucha Underground. We have new names, new characters, and all these fantastic performers. They were stars in other companies and they are here in Underground to help us make us the best company in the World.”

On whether he enjoys being a heel or a babyface: “I love being the bad guy. Everybody loves the bad guy including the chicks. That’s a place where I would like to but at the end of the day I’m going to be what the fans want me to be or where they put me. When I left the other company, they decided to put me in the good guy side. I have been working as a baby face since then. I’m not going to say I am not enjoying it but I do. If you would ask me, though, I would love to be a bad guy again.”

On how or when he decides which type of style you’re going to wrestle on a given night: “I’m one of those wrestlers that leaves everything to the audience and to the fans. I never plan anything and you will never see Alberto Patron planning in the back what he is going to do in the match. I always go out there, listen to the crowd and the fans, and give them what they want. If you plan something in the back, you go out there, and the fans don’t want what the fans last night wanted you are done. You won’t be able to give them a good show and a match. I always go out there and listen to the crowd, and depending on what they want that’s what I do.”

On how Rey Mysterio would be welcomed in Lucha Underground: “It would be fantastic! I don’t know if he is going to join or not because he already joined AAA in Mexico. We know that AAA and Lucha Underground are partners. That pretty much tells me we will see Rey Mysterio at some point in the future and it will be fantastic. We already have a great product and having Rey Mysterio joining the company would make it one thousand times better. We already have the Latinos watching Lucha Underground. Now we will have superstars like Rey Mysterio and Alberto Patron that will make the American fans turnaround and watch the program because they know us from other companies.”

On whether he could reunite with Ricardo Rodriguez in Lucha Underground: “Well, never say never. I have been trying to bring Ricardo to every organization I have worked with but I do not make the final decisions. I always talk about Ricardo with others but at the end of the day they are paying the bills and make that decision. In Ricardo’s situation, I know Lucha Underground already talked to him but nothing happened. I would love to have him on the roster. I wouldn’t want him the way he was before like the other company because he was like my servant. He is not my servant, he is my friend, and I would love to see him do well and showcase his talent in a company like Lucha Underground.”

On working for House of Hardcore: “That was a really good experience. The other day, I saw an interview with Tommy Dreamer about what happened that night with me. They thought I was not going to go, so they invited Ricardo who agreed. When they asked Ricardo to ask me I immediately said yes. I am a big fan of what that arena and company represent. I spoke from the heart and the fans loved it and were happy with what I had to say. Since that day, everyone has talked about my promos and how much love and passion I have for this business. I was the same guy working for the other company, the love and passion was there, but I was following directions. Now I am in a different place and I am happy and the fans are happy to see a different Alberto.”

On what he feels is most special about Lucha Underground and what he has in store for fans moving forward: “We have a product that is totally different than anything else. We are combing the best of everything in the wrestling world and putting it in one single place that is Lucha Underground. All the talent working for Lucha Underground is thirsty and hungry. They want to show the world that they can do it. Most of them tried to join the so called major company. Even though they have a lot of talent, for some reason or politics they were told no. They want to prove to the World that they are the some of the best wrestlers in the World. When people like myself and if Rey joins, we want to prove to the World that we are a 1,000 times better than what they saw in the other company. We still have something to offer and will help this company to grow and be the best out there. With all the help of the media, the writers, producers, and wrestlers in Lucha Underground we will be able to show them.”

Natalya Reveals Who Would Win UFC Fight With WWE Divas, Talks Total Divas & WM31, More

14

WWE Diva and Total Divas star Natalya recently spoke with USA Today’s “High School Sports” blog. Below are highlights from the interview.

On who would win a UFC Tournament involving only WWE Divas: “(Laughs) Well, first of all I’d have to say myself. I’ve got a lot of pent-up anger from my childhood. Just kidding! Other than me, I’d have to say Brie Bella. She’s one of the feistiest divas I know. Everyone thinks Nicole is the more aggressive one, but Brie brings it! When things go down backstage don’t be afraid of Nikki, be afraid of Brie!”

On who she would not want to be alone with in a dark alley: “(Laughs) Brock Lesnar. There are moments when he’s really nice, but he’s so scary looking because he’s huge. You don’t even have to watch WWE to see that.”

On what fans can expect from the next season of Total Divas and WrestleMania 31: “Well, I never thought of myself as the type of person that would do a reality show, but it’s been really fun. And I realized that I’m a train wreck and I cry every episode of the show. I can’t even explain how it feels to let it all out. It shows all of these different sides of all of us. It’s made us a lot more well-known now too. Even the Kardashians really like the show! I’ve had so many people tell me how much the show inspires them and how relatable we are.

Also, we’ve got WrestleMania coming up on March 29 on the WWE Network. My dad is going with me; he’ll be my eye candy along with my husband! It’ll be an amazing show!”
