Mick Foley Comments Again About WWE GM Rumors, WWE Tribute To The Troops Note

1

– WWE is asking fans to record brief messages thanking the U.S. Troops for their service, some of which will be selected and used during the company’s upcoming “Tribute To The Troops” special in December. For more information, click here.

– WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley posted the following on Facebook about wanting to return to WWE television as a General Manager.

“Everywhere I go these days, I am asked about the rumor that I will be the next GM of WWE Monday Night Raw. Yes, I’ve heard the rumor – but the runor’s only out there because I started it by writing last week that I would probably do it if asked. But as far as I know, that’s ALL there is to it, BUT, if the authority loses this Sunday at #SurvivorSeries, it does seem like there will be a shift in power – and possibly a new GM.”

    0

Resistance Pro Wrestling owners Gabriel Baron and Jacques Baron issued the following statement, addressing the departure of Billy Corgan from the promotion:

    RESISTANCE Pro Fans and Friends,

As many of you may have heard, Billy Corgan has left his role as Creative Director for RESISTANCE Pro. Owners Gabriel and Jacques Baron – as well as the staff and roster of RESISTANCE Pro – will be eternally in his debt for everything he did during his time with us. He opened up doors and offered opportunities to us that would otherwise had been unobtainable for an independent professional wrestling promotion. His creative outlook and noble dedication to charity have inspired us since day one, and we will continue to keep those lessons near and dear to our hearts. There would not have been a RESISTANCE Pro without him guiding it since its inception back in 2011, and we will always respect and be in his debt for that.

RESISTANCE Pro has always been a professional wrestling company and that is what we will continue to be. Our sense of community is the heart of the company that keeps us moving forward into 2015. The New Year offers many new possibilities, change, and a challenge to ourselves that only we can meet. On January 17, 2015 we present our first show of 2015 – ANIMALS – in this new era of RESISTANCE Pro. It’s a fundraiser for the South Suburban Humane Society – a charitable cause that does amazing work in our community. We ask that longtime fans of R-Pro join us that evening to celebrate our past and the curious give us the opportunity to entertain you with an exciting new product. Our goal is to entertain and have fun while doing some good. Let’s make that happen – together.

Happy Holidays and thank you for your support,

    Gabriel Baron

    9

The following are highlights of a new Total Wrestling Magazine interview with Diamond Dallas Page:

On who he enjoys watching in WWE currently: “I love to watch Randy Orton. I love that we have a similar finish, he is one of the top guys in the world, if not the guy. I’m a big Bray Wyatt fan too, I love his look, his promos, his energy.”

On his thoughts on his WWE run: “I didn’t have the run I should have had in WWE, but that’s ok, I had a great run in WCW. I lived the dream, and it was great fun. In WWE, I got the European Title, Tag-Team Titles, sure, but they didn’t mean anything to me. There was too much heat on the WCW guys at that time, they were seen as the enemy, we almost put the WWE out of business.”

On how Jake Roberts is doing now: “Jake’s not quite 100 percent, he still has a bit of pneumonia in his system. He isn’t close to dying or anything, but he isn’t a kid anymore, he’s close to 60. He’s just concentrating on getting better.”

Major Changes Coming To TNA In 2015

    42

Earlier this week, TNA finally announced a new multi-year television deal that will see Impact Wrestling airing on Destination America starting January 2015.

There has been a lot of speculation that TNA will see a total reboot when they change networks and TNA Producer Bryan Edwards has since confirmed those reports.

Edwards said fans should expect “new everything” from TNA next year:

Edwards also indicated that there was a big celebration at TNA headquarters following this week’s big announcement:

TNA President Dixie Carter also tweeted:

Comment below and tell us what you think TNA should change when they begin yet another new “era” in less than two months.

Mickie James Talks About Wanting To Return To WWE

    10

Former WWE Diva & TNA Knockout Mickie James recently spoke to Scott Fishman of The Miami Herald to promote her return to the ring on November 30 in North Carolina, where she’ll face Tessa Blanchard, daughter of Tully Blanchard.

Here’s what she said about wanting to return to WWE:

“It’s something I’m really interested in,” James said. “I’d have to revisit that whole thing…Things have changed since then. I think, ‘I’m better than 90 percent of the talent on TV now. Why am I going to step to the side to just train the future?’ I’m not ready to do that, and I’m not trying to be arrogant and self-absorbed. I can see how it can come off that way, but it’s the truth.”

“You look at least 75 percent or at least 80 percent on TV now. I know in my heart of hearts that I can draw more money than them and that I am better than them. I can put more asses in the seats than them. Why would I want to step aside? This is an ego thing, obviously. It’s about knowing your worth and your talent as well.”

“Why would I step aside to allow them to continue to be on top when you know you not only deserve to be there, but you deserve to be the best or one of the best. That is where my mind was over a year ago when I was first considering this whole thing. I was real intense about it. Obviously, now I have more than myself to think about. My position on it has changed in a sense that it’s not about just me anymore.”

  • If There Was Ever An Awful Time For A 10-Person PPV Main Event …

    95

If there was ever an awful time for a ten-person pay-per-view main event … this is it.

Why WWE is choosing to run with a ten-person elimination match for the upcoming Survivor Series show is completely beyond me. At this point in time, the depth among WWE’s roster is at one of the lowest that I can ever recall.

With top stars such as Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns on the shelf, and guys like CM Punk leaving at the peak of their popularity and Brock Lesnar working infrequently, WWE is left with very little at the top of the card. The only positive is that it forces them to move guys up the ladder at a faster rate than they normally might do.

With that being said, and I’m well aware that it’s a tradition to have multi-person elimination matches at Survivor Series, but I just can’t fathom why WWE is running with that concept this year, considering the state of their roster.

There’s been plenty of times in the past where they abandoned the elimination match concept at Survivor Series, so it’s not like something they have to make work because they do it every single year.

Regardless, that’s the direction we’re headed this year.

Having said that, one has to wonder how Survivor Series will come off later this month. WWE has put on some pretty solid pay-per-view shows in recent months, but I’ve got my reservations as to how well this show will come off in two weeks.

With pretty much all of the top guys either injured or involved in the main event, what is the rest of the show going to look like? Outside of Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose, thus far there’s virtually nothing on the Survivor Series undercard that I’m looking forward to.

Sure, Adam Rose vs. The Bunny will no doubt be an instant ring classic, but I digress.

All kidding aside, what’s left for the Survivor Series undercard? How many people that matter that aren’t tied up in the main event are left? The answer — not many.

It will be interesting to watch as the card continues to take shape in the final week of television next week leading up to the event.

By the way, if the stipulation in the Survivor Series main event has The Authority losing power if “Team Authority” loses the ten-man elimination main event, why isn’t Triple H trading his suit in for a pair of tights?

    Beats me.

You would think with so much on the line, “The Game” would take matters into his own hands, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. Unless I’m missing something, however, I guess it’s still possible, as last I checked there is one spot yet to be filled on the heel team. One would assume Triple H will fill that spot, although I haven’t seen any hints aimed in that direction.

While the roster is badly in need of some more depth right now, it is refreshing to know that the talent pool in developmental is as deep — if not deeper — than the current main roster in terms of promising young talent.

I can’t wait for guys like KENTA (Hideo Itami), Kevin Steen (Kevin Owens), Prince Devitt (Finn Balor), Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, Tyler Breeze and The Ascension to get their chance to make a splash on the main roster.

Look at some of the recent call-ups from NXT and how they are performing on the main roster. Guys like Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt and others are among WWE’s absolute top-tier performers these days. If WWE brings in guys like the names I just mentioned the way those guys were, as opposed to say, the way Adam Rose and Bo Dallas were brought up, the WWE main roster could be quite the group this time next year.

If and when that day comes, WWE can put on as many ten-man elimination matches as they’d like. For now, however, it just boggles my mind that they are choosing to do so with the roster in the state that it’s in.

What do you guys think? Leave your feedback in the “Comments” section below. You can also hit me up on Facebook at Facebook.com/MattBooneWZR and/or on Twitter @MBoone420.

*Spoilers* WWE SmackDown Taping Results For November 14, 2014

    35

The following are complete spoiler results of the WWE SmackDown taping from Liverpool, England.

    – Chris Jericho opens up the WWE SmackDown taping for this week. He comes out to a huge pop from the Liverpool audience. It’s time for the “Highlight Reel” segment. Jericho’s guests, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, make their way out to the ring. The fans break out in a “Where’s Our Network?!” chant, much like at Monday’s RAW, which was also taped in Liverpool, England. Not a lot of details about what was said, just that this was apparently a really good segment.

    – Vince McMahon came out of nowhere and cut a promo at the top of the stage. He came out after some more “Where’s Our Network?!” chants broke out. He insulted the fans in attendance, saying that Liverpool sounds like a “skin disease.” This was apparently a dark segment that won’t air as part of the broadcast this Friday night. For a photo of Vince at the SmackDown taping in Liverpool, click here.

    – Bray Wyatt def. Sin Cara in what was basically a brief squash match. Wyatt dominated from bell-to-bell, picking up the win with his “Sister Abigail” finisher for the 1-2-3. After the match, Wyatt cut a promo, which prompted Dean Ambrose to come out. Wyatt fled the scene before Ambrose could get to him. The segment ended with Wyatt at the top of the stage laughing at Ambrose.

    – Goldust and Stardust def. Adam Rose and The Bunny in tag-team action. This was said to be a decent match, but mostly a comedy bout. They teased more issues between Rose and The Bunny.

SmackDown spoiler results continued on page two …

*Spoilers* WWE Main Event Taping Results For November 11, 2014

    0

    – Stardust def. Adam Rose in the opening match of the taping. They teased more tension among Rose and his “Rosebuds.”

    – Alicia Fox def. Cameron in Divas action. This was said to be your basic Divas match, which according to our correspondent in attendance, the crowd was not into at all.

    – Tyson Kidd def. Sami Zayn in a battle of NXT stars. Natalya was at ringside for this one and ended up playing a big factor in the end of the match. The finish saw Kidd pick up the win after Nattie provided a distraction.

    – Dean Ambrose def. Justin Gabriel in singles competition. This was said to be one of the better matches of the taping, as you would expect with these two. This was also the main event of the taping, so we’re switching gears and heading into the SmackDown taping. Check the main page for live spoiler results coverage of that show.
