Here are some highlights of what Antonio Cesaro said to the Baltimore Sunduring a recent interview:
2013: “Well, I started the year as the United States champion, and now I am not the United States champion. But I’d say I’m part of the most entertaining group in the WWE, and the best tag team right now, the Real Americans.”
Working with CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan on the Independent Scene: “We’ve been on the road with each other for a long time. I’ve been with guys like CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan for almost 10 years now. It’s definitely a bond because we all know where we came from. We know we performed in front of 20 or 30 people in some old, rusty building, and now we’re performing on the biggest stage. There’s definitely a pride in that. There’s definitely a bond in it as well.”
Chris Hero’s Release: “It certainly was disappointing. When we signed with this company, we both knew what we were getting into. We both made each other a promise that we would work as hard as possible, whether it’s as a team or singles competitors. I know he’ll wind up on his feet, and he probably already is, and he’ll continue wrestling all over the world.”
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has published a blog on Facebook talking about Daniel Bryan joining the Wyatt Family. Here’s an excerpt:
“For the record, I am a huge daniel Bryan fan. I thought a Bryan win would have been best for business at “Hell in a Cell”. I think Bryan winning the Royal Rumble, and the potential of 75,000 strong in New Orleans chanting “YES” at the conclusion of Wrestlemania – providing an image for the ages….and sending people home HAPPY – will be what’s best for business in April. But could this recent turn of events with Bray Wyatt be what’s best for business now?
It could be.
Personally, I see the WWE World heavyweight Championship in Daniel Bryan’s future. But in the meantime, he has a chance to do something almost as important and prestigious; he has a chance to help MAKE somebody.
Last month, I mentioned that Bray Wyatt (yeah, I know I called him Way Bryatt on the TLC PPV) had that “IT” thing – those tricky two letters that can spell the difference betweeen a talented performer and a star, between an asset to the company and a main eventer. But even a peformer with that “IT” factor needs something else to get them there – a bridge of sorts to get lead them on that next step of the journey. Every performer in our business needs that intense personal issue, that rivalry, that FEUD that truly puts them on the main event map.”
– The live TNA Genesis edition of Impact Wrestling on January 16th from Huntsville, Alabama will feature:
* Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode in a Steel Cage
* Sting vs. Ethan Carter III
– Jeff Jarrett will be a free agent on Monday, January 6th. He and his wife Karen are expected to work the independent scene.
– Many people within TNA think that Jeff Jarrett’s departure from TNA was one of the final straws that led to AJ Styles ending his negotiations with the company and working with Ring of Honor. Styles makes his ROH return this Saturday from Nashville, Tennessee.

(Thanks to SEScoops correspondent Noah Mark for sending in this info)
Happy New Year everyone! Noah Mark is back with his the latest installment of “The YES! & The NO! of WWE RAW.” Comment below and tell us if you agree with this week’s picks.
Alright everyone, I’ve been sitting on writing this article to give all of us enough time to digest what we saw on Monday. I didn’t want to make a knee jerk reaction to what I saw. So hopefully here is my calm observation.
Daniel Bryan Takes On Luke Harper – YES!
Daniel Bryan Joins The Wyatts: Daniel Bryan is an incredible wrestler, he’s got a likable personality, and he’s good on the mic. Shawn Michaels definitely taught him well, but Bryan has that extra ingredient needed to make a star, that unteachable “it” factor. You either have it, or you don’t. Bryan has it, and it has developed over the years to something a massive audience can get behind. We are in in a time where WWE has failed to match the caliber star power and top new talents of the decades before it. So partly due to John Cena’s injury Daniel Bryan is given the ball. The crowds love him, and are behind him. Daniel Bryan headlines Summer Slam with Cena, followed by the next 3 Pay-Per-Views with Orton. The Pay-Per-View buy rates were down from the previous year. It shouldn’t rest squarely on Bryan’s shoulders, there is an incredible short shelf on top stars, with practically all of them on John Cena’s level either retired or part time. Look at Survivor Series, headlined by Big Show vs Randy Orton, drawing one if not the lowest Survivor Series buy rates in the PPV’s history. I could argue that Daniel Bryan in the main event SAVED the prior three pay-per-views from a similar dismal buy rate.
Erick Rowan vs Daniel Bryan – YES!
Nonetheless, back down Daniel Bryan goes on the card, he becomes the scapegoat, pun intended! Bryan’s been in a feud with the Wyatts since the end of October. My anger and frustration has clouded my appreciation for the Wyatts, and this story line. So let me look at it just from the perspective of the story line alone. The Wyatts have a great persona, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan can hang with the likes of just about anyone in the ring. I feel Bray Wyatt is the weakest wrestler out of the group, but wrestling isn’t the most important talent needed for this, Bray could easily fit in a horror movie, he looks the part and is competent enough. So after two months of mostly Daniel Bryan getting the short end of the stick, on this past Monday’s Raw Bryan is given a chance to go one on one with Bray Wyatt. All Bryan must do is defeat Luke Harper and Derrek Rowen.
Daniel Bryan Joins the Wyatt Family. YES!
After the two matches Bray comes in the ring, the match starts, Erick and Luke join in on the attack. Bray tells Bryan he’s afraid this is where their story ends. He says he has no mercy left to give. He says this is his fault. Bryan says you’re right, you were right all along and joins the Wyatts. (View Full Details here) So within the story line itself. I’m okay with this, in fact I’m totally fine with this scenario, provided Daniel Bryan is out of this “spell” by The Royal Rumble. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, in this day in age, with people wanting instant gratification, binge-watching full seasons of TV shows in a sitting, I can’t wait 16 weeks for WrestleMania XXX for Daniel Bryan to come out of his spell. Doing so may inflict permanent damage on his popularity. So if Daniel Bryan is “following the buzzards” for four weeks, I’m on board. YES!
CM Punk takes on Seth Rollins on an “Off Night” – NO!
CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins: Everyone has an off night, Seth Rollins and CM Punk didn’t work. there were a few botches, CM Punk tried to cover by turning a move off the ropes into a small package, but it was sloppy. I would imagine most of the heat goes on Seth Rollins, but it takes two to tango. CM Punk on Twitter knew it was a stinker NO!
“@RMB316: @CMPunk IM sure you hear this a lot. Good match on #Raw really enjoyed it. Keep it up all the best in 2014” it was garbage.
As previously reported, WWE was originally planning on a Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. The idea came about when Show was feuding with The Authority.
Apparently the plan was for Big Show to go through Randy Orton and The Authority, although he would never win the title, yet he would come out of the program as a solid main eventer. This would set up Show looking strong, making Lesnar look strong for a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX when he beat Show at the Rumble.
Speaking of Taker vs. Lesnar, there appears to be some concern over a few different issues. One is the physical style that Lesnar has in recent years. Lesnar’s rough style, mixed with the bad physical shape Taker is in, is causing some concern.
Another issue is that many, if not all of Taker’s opponents the last several years have secretly worked out their match with extensive practice before it actually took place. There is some concern within WWE as to whether or not Lesnar would be willing to put in that amount of time preparing for the match.

The Rock is holding a #RockTalk Q&A session on Twitter today and revealed some interesting details about the original plans for him to wrestle Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. He said there’s “no plans now” for him to compete at WrestleMania 30 – but “possibly” WrestleMania 31.
Between Vince, Brock & myself our Wrestlemania 30 plan was ROCK vs BROCK. No plans now for 30 but possibly WM 31. #RockTalk @_JordanMayoral
He also commented on the abdominal injury he suffered at WrestleMania 29 against John Cena, which is the reason for him scaling back his work in the ring while filming big budget Hollywood movies:
My biggest 2013 "ah ha" moment was tearing my quad & adductor from my pelvis. God's way of saying "slow down son" #RockTalk@CynPhillyYours
– NXT trainers Bill DeMott and Sara Del Rey were backstage at Monday’sWWE RAW in Richmond. DeMott noted on Twitter that they were traveling back to Florida with Summer Rae and Eva Marie.
– TMZ reports that former WWE announcer Matt Striker will play a Romulan Commander in an upcoming Star Trek TV movie titled, “Star Trek Equinox: The Night of Time.”
– We heard from a few fans who were at last night’s WWE live event from Toronto that said Cody Rhodes’s match with Antonio Cesaro stole the show.
Also at the Toronto live event, 3MB (Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal and Ricardo Rodriguez) worked as “The Mounties” – losing to Los Matadores and El Torito.
On last night’s episode of WWE RAW, Brock Lesnar made his return and challenged the winner of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match at The Royal Rumble. Lesnar then made a challenge to anyone in the WWE locker room, which brought out Mark Henry. The two brawled and Lesnar got the best of it, hitting Henry with an F5 outside the ring.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated the Q&A section of JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:
Did he watch Nitro during the Monday Night War?
“I was generally busy with RAW and was at best a casual viewer. I had a great deal on my plate in those days.”
How Social Media has affected pro wrestling:
“Not sure how much it has actually ‘changed’ the business but there is much more info out there to digest and much of it is simply gossip and innuendo. I don’t think that the IWC has helped or harmed the wrestling business. Times have changed in all walks of life, sports, entertainment, etc. ”
If Hulk Hogan can wrestle at WrestleMania:
“Hulk has a horrible back condition, his in ring work would be SO limited that I feel it would sadden his fans to see what he’s become in his later years in all due respect. I’m not even sure that he could pass a WWE physical. But he doesn’t have to wrestle to be a huge part of WM30, IMO”
Why WWE doesn’t have more Japanese wrestlers:
“I feel that the lack of them being able to speak English hinders them a great deal. Most of the great Japanese stars stay in Japan these days. I haven’t watched Japanese wrestling to any degree in a long while.”
Gina Carano fighting Ronda Rousey:
“The match wold be super and a financial hit but I think Gina is done with MMA. I hope that I’m wrong.”
Which PPV Is Bigger: SummerSlam or Royal Rumble?
“Summer Slam has seemingly gotten bigger but the Rumble is my favorite PPV match.”
We noted earlier that NBA star LeBron James posted a tweet on his official Twitter account asking how he could obtain a WWE World Championship belt. Not only did The Rock respond to James, but John Cena and CM Punk did as well. The following are their responses:
You need one? I may have one 4uRT @KingJames: Who do i need to talk to to get one of those World Championship Belt? WWE belt. The real ones
– WWE will be returning to Hershey, Pennsylvania on April 22, 2014 for a WWE SmackDown television taping.
– The official WWE website recently published an article analyzing some interesting 2013 statistics. The following are some highlights:
Most wins by pinfall or submission: Randy Orton
Highest winning percentage: John Cena
Most wins by a WWE Diva: Natalya
Most matches: Randy Orton
Most wins by DQ: Daniel Bryan
Most losses by DQ: Dean Ambrose
Most matches ending in a No Contest: Alberto Del Rio and Randy Orton (tie)
Speculation on CM Punk’s WWE future ran rampant this weekend after Punk posted the following tweet after his match at the WWE live event in Detroit, Michigan:
Thanks Detroit. I don’t have many of these left in me. Off to DC and coffee with Lyle Preslar.
Apparently people are reading too much into the tweet, as it’s being said within WWE that they do not expect Punk to leave at any point in the near future.
As noted in the spoiler report for this week’s WWE SmackDown show, which was taped on Sunday night in Washington, D.C., following the main event, Wade Barrett came out for a “Bad News Barrett” segment.
Apparently the segment was not part of what is expected to air on the broadcast, as live fan notes from the show claim that CM Punk came back out to interupt the segment. Punk reportedly hit Barrett with his “GTS” finisher to send the crowd home happy.

– Despite being advertised to appear at the Toronto, Ontario, Canada non-televised live event that takes place tonight opposite RAW in Richmond, Virginia, WWE Superstar John Cena will reportedly appear on RAW.
– Despite rumors, it appears Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract is an exclusive deal, one that does not expire until after WrestleMania 31 in 2015. Word is that people in WWE can’t believe Vince McMahon would allow Lesnar to sign a deal with WWE that would allow him to fight in UFC at the same time.
– You can officially rule out the WWE Tag-Team Champions from appearing on tonight’s live WWE RAW show from Richmond, Virginia. Cody Rhodes noted on Twitter that he will be wrestling Antonio Cesaro at the WWE non-televised live event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, which takes place tonight as well.
– Former WWE Superstars Bobby Lashley and Big Daddy V. are scheduled to appear at the U8P Wrestling “Return To Glory Days” show on February 8th at the Carroll County Civic Center in Huntington, Tennessee.
As reported on Sunday night, WWE Superstar and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is scheduled to return on RAW tonight in Richmond, Virginia.
In addition to Lesnar, it appears as though Lesnar’s on-air manager Paul Heyman will be making his WWE return on RAW tonight as well.
Lesnar’s return was revealed during the SmackDown taping in Washington, D.C. on Sunday night, where Big E. Langston referenced Lesnar attacking Mark Henry on RAW on the SmackDown show that airs after RAW this coming Friday.

According to MMAFighting.com, the rumors of Brock Lesnar returning to fight in the UFC were likely just a publicity stunt done in order to build interest in Lesnar, who is scheduled to return to WWE on tonight’s RAW show in Richmond, Virginia.
The article notes that WWE has had plans for Lesnar to return on the December 30th RAW for a while now.
A WWE spokesperson told the website, “WWE has exclusive rights to services (to Lesnar) and such exclusivity extends to ultimate fighting competitions.”
Tonight’s “New Year’s” edition of WWE RAW takes place from The Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, VA. Here is WWE.com’s 5-point preview for the show:
1. Intercontinental Title Up For Grabs: Big E Langston defends against Fandango.
2. World’s Largest New Year’s Baby: Big Show dons a diaper and dresses up like a baby.
3. The Animal To Hunt Again: How will The Authority and the WWE Universe react to the news that Batista is returning to RAW in 3 weeks?
4. What’s Next For John Cena? Will Cena make a bid to go after WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton?
5. What is The Authority Planning for 2014? The Authority has already shown they’re willing to put Randy Orton to the test, what will they have in store for IC Champion Big E Langston, Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Goldust and Divas Champion AJ Lee?
WWE is also running a rare Monday night live event tonight from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Superstars advertised for that show (who won’t be at RAW) include John Cena, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Big Show, Kane, Antonio Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio and Sin Cara.
