  • Kassius Ohno Blogs About His WWE Departure And Future In Wrestling

    21

Former WWE NXT Superstar Kassius Ohno, who is working again under the name Chris Hero, posted the following blog on his official Facebook page tonight discussing his recent release from WWE.

Maybe you’ve heard. Maybe you’ve not heard. Last Friday my contract with WWE was terminated. Man… Terminated sounds so harsh, right? To me, it conjures up images of post-apocalyptic wars with robots, machine guns and atomic bombs. No thank you. Merriam-Webster defines terminate as ‘to come to an end in time.’ Okay.. That’s a little less dramatic. I can handle that. For the last 21 months, I’ve lived in Florida as a part of WWE’s Developmental System. That time has now come to an end.

There are a lot of ways I can look at this and, honestly, it won’t serve me at all to be anything BUT positive and optimistic. I could sulk. I could point fingers. I could feel sorry for myself. Or, I could channel all my energy into getting back out there, kicking some ass and taking things to the next level. Once upon a time, a close friend of mine named Claudio Castagnoli was released from WWE. Another good friend, Colt Cabana, got his walking papers. The ‘Best in the World’ Bryan Danielson had his contract ‘terminated’. TWICE. These three guys are all CRAZY talented and, on all accounts, are doing rather well for themselves right now, eh? I’m leaving WWE on good terms so, if it’s meant to be, I’m sure I will be back. If it’s not meant to be, I can guarantee you that I will still be trotting all over the globe doing what I love (and what I’m damn good at) at the highest level possible.

How will my career unfold? There’s no telling at this moment and that can be scary. I can assure you, though, that I am genuinely excited to take things into my hands and get back out there. There are sights I’ve not seen in the last two years, friends I’ve not spent time with and fans I’ve not performed in front of. How long has it been since a #HipHopThursday? There are people I’m dying to work with! I have ideas that are practically begging to surface; I say let’s get to it!

The response I’ve gotten from all of this hullabaloo has literally overwhelmed me. So much so that I’m just now getting back to some people two, three days after they had reached out. It’s important to me that I let you all know how much this has meant to me. Whether it was a tweet, an e-mail, facebook message, text, call or voicemail, your support means the world to me. It would have been incredibly easy to go to a dark place and succumb to negative thoughts and energy. Your love has kept my spirits high and, again I reiterate, I am absolutely thrilled to get back in the mix.

…I do have a favor I’d like to ask of you. When things happen that we don’t like, it’s our instinct look for answers. We get sad. We get mad. In this situation, there’s nothing to be sad about! And rather than being angry about what has happened, I want you all to be happy about what’s going to happen! I’ll be back with a vengeance, I assure you. The best way to support me is with positive energy. Also, WWE and NXT loaded with talented guys and girls. There’s an overabundance of talent at that Performance Center that inspires ME, some of which you’ve not even seen yet. Those folks need your support just like I do so make sure your voices are heard.

To wrap this up, I’d like everyone to know that I loved my experience here. I’ve made so many great friends. I have memories that will last a lifetime. I’ve learned so much; not just about professional wrestling but I’ve discovered a lot about myself. I’ve gained a lot of new fans and I hope that you will all follow me on this new journey. If you wish to support me directly, there are a plethora of ways to do so: you can continue to follow and interact with me on Twitter and Facebook, you can come watch me do what I love to do LIVE and in livin’ color, you can pick up some brand new Chris Hero merchandise in person or online. Speaking of which, thechrishero.com will be sorted out soon with all new @ChrisHeroMerch *and* I am pleased to announce that I will have additional t-shirts available courtesy of @OneHourTees (http://www.prowrestlingtees.com/chrishero).

Whether it’s in Philly, Oberhausen Germany, Los Angeles, Austin Texas, London, Tokyo, Chicago or Toronto, you will see me and I will see YOU. Soon, my friends. Thank you for your support.

On the way WWE has been concluding their recent PPVs: “I think that the main attractions at PPV should generally be the final chapter of a rivalry or the first installment of a rivalry when possible. Jim Ross Blog: Kassius Ohno’s Release, Lack Of Buzz For Survivor Series

    2

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:

Lack Of Buzz For Survivor Series: “WWE needs to ignite the interest in their next PPV offering, the Survivor Series, as there seems to be little buzz surrounding the event which has a wealth of history attached to it from over the years.”

” I don’t see WWE going back to the total, elimination tag team bouts ever again but putting one of their few, established stars in an elimination tag to provide the star’s teammates a viable ‘rub’ isn’t a bad concept.”

WWE Releasing Kassius Ohno: “Been asked a great deal about Kassius Ohno aka Chris Hero’s release from WWE NXT. Obviously, it is regrettable as no one wins in this particular scenario. I have been out of the WWE loop for a while but know that there were issues that were being addressed with this matter while I was still in the company. Ohno/Hero was well thought of and I felt he had a the potential for a bright future in WWE. Perhaps he still does down the road.”

“Any time a talent with the experience, skill set and potential that Kassius/Chris possesses fails, it is an unfortunate situation for all involved in the process. Having been there, hopefully all can learn from the experience and hope that history doesn’t repeat itself. These issues are rarely one sided as it takes two to tango.”

WWE Responds To Fans Saying John Cena “Can’t Wrestle”, WWE Removes Leaked Footage, More

    39

    – Back in August while promoting SummerSlam, John Cena made reference to his “Five Moves of Doom” on an episode of Raw, a colloquial term for his trademark sequence of moves (flying shoulderblock, sitout hip toss, side-release spinout powerbomb, Five Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment). The official WWE website published a video today in response to the infamous notion that Cena “can’t wrestle.”

“Then how do you explain the powerbomb, neckbreaker and hurricanrana he dishes out in this video?,” WWE.com says of video on the front page, entitled “10 moves from John Cena’s underrated arsenal.” The video caption reads, “John Cena shows that he is capable of much more than his proverbial “Five Moves of Doom.”

    – WWE filed a copyright claim in response to satellite footage from last Monday’s Raw that surfaced on YouTube and had the two videos removed.

Pre-Raw footage was leaked of the announcers preparing for the broadcast, which notably features Michael Cole acknowledging plans of a wrestler being put through his table later in the evening. In the other video, Big E Langston, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz are shown preparing for a WWE App segment, which features Ziggler using colorful language.

Smackdown ring announcer and “army brat” Lilian Garcia posted a message on her official website celebrating Veteran’s Day.

Buff Bagwell Speaks On Meeting With TNA This Year, His WWE Run, WCW/nWo

    0

The following are highlights from a recent WGD Weekly interview with former WCW star Buff Bagwell:

On TNA and his talks with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff this past summer: “I went down to the Burnett Center when they were here; I just wanted them to see me. I called Eric and said ‘do you mind if I come down to see you guys at TNA,’ he said, sure, come on down. So, I walk in the back…looking like I’m looking, looking like Buff Bagwell again…I walk in and Hulk Hogan walks all the way over to me and I feel eyes burning holes in me, and Hulk walks up and goes to me, ‘why are you not working for us?’…I said, ‘well, that’s kind of why I am here’…He said, ‘Dude, you’re one of the only few guys left that we could bring in and not have any heat, and he didn’t realize what he had said. I said, ‘Do you know why that is?…Because I don’t have any friends, he started laughing and he said, ‘you know, you’re right…if we brought in you, nobody would complain about it. I said it’s because I don’t have any friends in the business, I have a few friends, but none that would get heat for it. So he said, dude, who has got your number? I said, Eric Bischoff has got my number, so I got texts on my phone right now, that I could send you…Eric Bischoff texted me, and he was excited, and I was excited…then the Main Event Mafia thing started happening, I thought I’d fit into that or Aces and Eights possibly and I have heard nothing and they knew exactly where I am at and exactly how to get in touch with me…Eric was saying positive things…I don’t get it…just let me go out and be over again, I can be the biggest heel or the biggest babyface if they would just let me, but they won’t let me and I don’t know why.”

On his brief run in WWE: “I was the first match of the Invasion…why would they put Booker T. versus Buff Bagwell in Tacoma, Washington…we’re main event on Raw…and it ain’t good. They could wait seven days and put this in Atlanta…instead we got booed out of the building in Tacoma, Washington and we had a bad match, double whammy, you know…If you’re asking me, they already knew that they were done with WCW, they just were gonna make us the sacrificial lambs to end it…all they had to do was wait a week and Booker T and Buff Bagwell get over in Atlanta, instead we got buried in Tacoma…they had a gold mine with WCW, forget Buff, they had a gold mine…Sting, Luger against the Rock, Stone Cold, it was endless…you could’ve gone on and on with that for wrestling fans, for wrestlers, you could’ve gone on and on, but instead they just beat us all and sent us home.”

On his WWE release: “They waited to fire me in Atlanta, why even make me come down there? Make me drive down to Phillips Arena to fire, my god, how brutal is that? I don’t know if they hadn’t figured it out totally or what, I think they had…I think they already knew they were done with us and were gonna put us on the shelf and they did so.”

On the backstage scene in WCW during their final year in business: “It was absolute mayhem, it was just a bad train wreck that nobody could fix when Russo came in…Russo had everybody going in different directions and then they figured out that Russo didn’t know what he was doing and they bought Bischoff back, and then they tried getting Bischoff and Russo to work together…Bischoff had his guys…and Russo had his guys…and you could always tell who was running things by who was getting pushed…I got to visualize it all when it went down and there was just nobody that was gonna fix it.”

On returning from a broken neck as a heel instead of a babyface in 1998: “It was a gigantic deal, they could’ve made me the next biggest babyface in the world, dude, I had 50,000 letters sent to me in the hospital, I had Desert Storm guys would touch my picture before they went out to battle…I was over, big time…they could’ve made me the next biggest superstar, instead they turned me heel and the people didn’t like it, it burned them. My parents were physically upset about it…I knew what they were doing was wrong, but …they pay my bills, I can’t tell Eric, ‘hey, Eric, I’m not gonna do that,’ but it was Eric’s idea and he wanted to turn me heel and basically it took a crap on 50,000 people that were praying for me.”

On joining the nWo and becoming “Buff” Bagwell: “Kevin Nash is the first one to speak up for me.
