The blue ring gear set of a flood of tweets referencing #Bluetista, with even WWE announcers acknowledging during the show that #Bluetista was trending worldwide.

Batista, who has been the subject of a great deal of ridicule from fans since returning to WWE earlier this year, was not too pleased that fans were so fixated on his ring gear. He tweeted on Monday:

  • Santino Marella Calls Paul Heyman A Genius, Talks Sharing The Stage With Divas

    3

The following are highlights of a new Ring Rust Radio interview with Santino Marella:

On a match or an angle or a moment that stands out as his favorite since he’s been with WWE: “It’s very difficult for me and I often tell people that the best moment is yet to come, but I believe winning the United States Championship was very nice, Elimination Chamber was very special for me, defending my U.S. Title in a cage vs. Jack Swagger was cool; I had never been in a cage match before, to have just one moment; maybe wrestling in Italy.”

On incorporating MMA into future matches: “For my matches maybe not because my character is established but for the future and young talent, I believe this is the way the business should go because of the growth of MMA and people are becoming more savvy when it comes to submissions and takedowns and things like that. Before, when we said that wrestling was real we didn’t have to work so hard, but now that we acknowledge that it’s entertainment we have to be very realistic and that is the style we teach at Battle Arts Academy in Toronto.”

On his last name paying homage to Gorilla Monsoon: “When they told me, immediately I realized it was an honor and a privilege and it did put some pressure on me to deliver the goods, so to speak.”

On sharing the stage with various Divas over the years: “If you know how to use them then of course you have a synergy and if you don’t know how to use them it can be a waste of time. I have been with very different women, for example, Maria was very delicate, more like a model, Beth Phoenix was very strong, Emma is very funny and Tamina was like an amazon. So you have to know how to incorporate them and it all depends on how the personalities mingle.”

On Paul Heyman’s influence going back to their days in Ohio Valley Wrestling: “Paul Heyman is like a wrestling genius. His input weighs a lot for me. In training, he was observing me and he pulled me aside and said I have an idea for you and he heard about my background and we became more selective and it was very good and it was very fun. I believe the people that watched, they believed 100 percent so we did our job, you know.”

On how much of his work is a collaboration with others or does he come up with everything we see: “In the beginning, it was more regionalized, then it was a collaboration, and now I have more freedom for input. They give me a skeleton, and say ‘you need to say this, this and this, but in your way’ and I come up with what I want to say.”

  • The Shield vs. Evolution: A Fitting Conclusion

    10

Last night, the WWE Universe saw the soldiers overthrow their all-powerful leader, as the Shield destroyed the King of Kings and the rest of Evolution in a six-man tag elimination match.

The match was likely the last encounter between the two groups. Batista is scheduled to take time off starting tonight and there is little focus on the rivalry in tonight’s preview for Raw, so it seems unlikely that the program will be continued.

Roman Reigns dominated Evolution last night, ultimately winning the contest by pinning Triple H.
Roman Reigns dominated Evolution last night, ultimately winning the contest by pinning Triple H.

With Evolution in their rearview mirror, one has to wonder where the Shield will go from here. They have already feuded with a good portion of the roster, and none of the members are really in line to challenge for a title, so it will be interesting to see what happens with the Hounds of Justice tonight.

One thing is certain though: all of the members are being booked strong. This was evident last night, as all three members of the group picked up an elimination against Evolution, with Roman Reigns ultimately securing the victory by pinning Triple H after hitting a spear.

It is obvious that Roman Reigns is being groomed as the first breakout star of the group. There were rumors that he and Triple H are being booked to square off at SummerSlam, but after last night’s emphatic victory by the Shield, that idea seems a bit less likely.

Assuming last night’s contest is the final time Evolution and the Shield meet, it was a fitting conclusion to a great rivalry. Their first contest at Extreme Rules is without a doubt the match of the year thus far. It appeared that last night’s matchup would surpass their first meeting.

After all, it had all of the ingredients of a classic match. It had the backstory between the two groups, it had the no-holds barred stipulation that would make the contest more exciting, and it also had a sense of finality due to the fact that most knew Batista was leaving after the event. It failed to live up to the hype of their first meeting, however.

    WWE Payback 2014 Kickoff Show

The WWE Payback 2014 Kickoff Show kicks off with Josh Mathews, Booker T, Kofi Kingston and Alex Riley at the expert panel. The foursome talk about some of tonight’s matches, including the lone Kickoff Show match, which features Hornswoggle vs. El Torito in a hair vs. mask match.

    Mask vs. Hair
    – El Torito vs. Hornswoggle

After some more discussion at the expert panel, we are brought to ringside, where Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler introduce us to the first match of the evening. El Torito, dressed as the Chicago Bulls mascot, makes his way to the ring with Los Matadores. Out next is Hornswoggle, who is accompanied by 3MB. There is a barber stool/setup at ringside in case Horny loses.

The bell rings and here we go. As soon as the action begins, the Chicago fans break out in a “we want tables” chant. Horny takes the early offensive lead in the match. The guys do a bunch of comedy spots early, with Los Matadores and 3MB cheering on their respective man at ringside.

There’s a spot where Torito goes for the pin on Horny and Horny kicks out so hard that Torito flies into referee Charles Robinson’s hands. Robinson then throws Torito back on top of Horny. This happens a few times until Torito gives up on the pin attempt.

Back up, Horny argues with the ref until he turns around right into a gore from Torito. An “Ole! Ole!” chant breaks out as the guys all brawl on the floor outside the ring. Torito crawls under the ring. Torito ends up coming out of the other end of the ring with a big pair of scissors, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake style.

Horny and Torito battle on the floor some more as their team members watch on. Back in the ring, both guys are down. 3MB and the Matadores get involved, with Torito hitting a big splash on one of the 3MB members on the floor. This all leads to all three 3MB members being on the floor as Torito does a big top-rope dive onto all of them.

After another big splash spot on the floor onto all of the big guys happens, a loud “this is awesome” chant breaks out. Torito hits the Bronco-Buster on Horny in the corner. Horny recovers, gets control of Torito and yanks his mask off. Torito has another mask on underneath it, however, and a pre-celebratory Horny suffers the consequences, as he turns around into a rollup from Torito. 1-2-3. Torito wins.

    Winner: El Torito

After The Match: Horny Gets His Head Shaved

After the match, Horny is put into the barber chair outside the ring. Torito, with help from Los Matadores, cuts Horny’s hair. They get the trimmers out now and they are shaving Horny’s head bald. Horny, of course, is screaming and selling the entire time. The announcers, of course, are selling this like it’s the greatest thing ever. Finally, they break out the shaving cream and disposable razors and begin shaving him completely and totally bald.

Backstage: A New Match Is Revealed

We are told at the expert panel that The Rhodes Brothers vs. RybAxel is set for tonight’s show. We see a WWE.com exclusive video of what led to this match. Backstage, we see Goldust and Cody Rhodes talking.

Another New Match Set For Tonight

Back at the panel, yet another new match is revealed, as Booker T informs Kofi Kingston that he just received breaking news, which is that Kingston is scheduled to compete against Bo Dallas later tonight.

Big Tag-Team Match Planned For RAW

    16

According to one source, a big tag-team main event is scheduled to take place on tomorrow night’s post-Payback edition of WWE RAW.

In what could be a pairing of secondary champions depending on the outcome of some matches at tonight’s Payback pay-per-view, a tag-team match between Bad News Barrett and Cesaro vs. Rob Van Dam and Sheamus is the plan for tomorrow night.

Details On WWE Payback Script: Title Match To Be Added To Tonight’s Show?

    3

It’s being reported that the complete script for tonight’s WWE Payback pay-per-view was written in full this past Tuesday.

It should be noted, however, that while the script doesn’t include a WWE Tag-Team Championship match, nor has one been advertised on television leading into tonight’s show, there has been talk of a last-minute addition of The Usos vs. Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan.

  • WWE Hall Of Famer Rips Adam Rose, Says Bo Dallas Made Him Want To Vomit

    61

WWE Hall Of Famer “Superstar” Billy Graham recently posted the following blog on his official Facebook page, claiming he’s done watching WWE programming after this past Friday night’s edition of WWE SmackDown:

    “Hello Facebook friends,

This message will be my last as I have decided after watching the entire Smackdown show that aired Friday night May 30th, that I am wasting my time viewing the WWE shows. There are of course many very good matches and hard-working top guys out there performing for you fans. To quote 2 lines from Bob Dylan’s ” Wedding Song ” tune, sum’s up my position perfectly, ” It’s never been my duty to remake the world at large…. Nor is it my intention to lead a battle charge. “

It is not my job and I have no business to critique or pass along any negative judgment on the WWE. Believe me there are plenty of critics around to opine on the state of the WWE.

Last night when I saw Bo Dallas running around the ring acting like an idiot and hugging his opponent Xavier Woods when the match was over I wanted to vomit. Then here come the effeminate Pete Rose sucking on a lollipop, followed by maybe 15 of his circus troupe of freaks and geek’s, he gives me the creeps. Then came the dwarf El Torito dressed in a children’s bull costume who proceeds to pin a normal size wrestler. By then I did indeed vomit.

I get intelligent responses from my Facebook friends and then I get ignorant ones like this one from from Dan Pedreyra who wrote about Cesaro and I quote ” Give Cesaro time to develop, he’s learning, he’s hanging out with Cena.” Who the F is Cena ? God ? I will tell you who got it right in her response and that is Jaynie Mullins Mullins, who said and I quote, ” The WWE is now the WWZZZZZZZZZZ. “

    Peace,

    Superstar Billy Graham”

  • MVP Hints That Kurt Angle May Be Done With TNA, Talks Vince McMahon & More

    4

The following are highlights of a new U.K. Mirror interview with MVP:

Possibly not getting to face Kurt Angle: “Before I signed I said there were three people I absolutely had to work with: Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and Kurt Angle. Kurt’s out with knee surgery – I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, and I’m not really sure at this stage of his life and his career, how much longer he’ll be with us – I don’t want to speculate. I do know if you lace up a pair of boots, Kurt Angle is someone you want to get in the ring with. If that doesn’t happen, I will truly feel like this has been a missed opportunity for me – selfishly.”

Vince McMahon giving him a chance: “When society wouldn’t give me an opportunity to earn a minimum wage because I was a convicted felon, Vince McMahon gave me an opportunity to earn more money than both of my parents had made in their lives combined and become an international star. [Then]I asked to leave, and he allowed me to go – and said the door’s open when you want to come back. I’m totally indebted to Vince McMahon for both of those opportunities.”

His future: “I still wanna wrestle in Mexico, before all’s said and done. When I’m ready to retire, my goal is to retire in Japan. We’ll see – I don’t know what’s coming down the road. I know for the foreseeable future, if a TNA Title run is on the cards for me, that’d be a huge honor.”

    17

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley wrote the following on his Facebook page late Saturday night:

    THANK YOU WWE

The problems I am currently going through with WWE sometimes feel like the problems A middle or highschooler might go through during the course of a turbulent interpersonal relationship. At a certain point, me saying, “WWE won’t even mention Wade Barret’s #CactusJack elbow, complete with visual and the vocal “bang bang” acknowledgement, starts to sound like an eighth/grader complaining that little Susie gave him the cold shoulder at gym class.

In the end my relationship with WWE, like any serious relationship is going to remembered for far more than a minor dispute about a legends contract and the refusal to mention my name for a few weeks on WWE Monday Night Raw. In the end, the new WWE Network gives fans a chance to watch my body of work and make up their own mind – and I will always be thankful to the people in charge who went above and beyond the call of duty to produce A great DVD in #ForAllMankind.

Besides, all these minor problems will be a thing in the past if WWE will just take me up on my offer, and grant me a spot on the #ExoticExpress

Plans Changed For This Year’s WWE Money In The Bank, Cesaro’s Future

    41

The upcoming WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view, which takes place on June 29th, is expected to feature only one multi-person ladder match for a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

While no one has been officially decided upon as the projected winner for this year’s Money In The Bank match, the front-runner is said to be up-and-coming WWE Superstar Cesaro.

Considering the fact that “The King Of Swing” has been earmarked for a big singles push, and is slotted as the number three baby face in the company for later this year, behind only John Cena and Daniel Bryan, it’s considered likely that if he indeed wins the Money In The Bank ladder match, he would go on to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion whenever he eventually cashes in his title-shot.

WWE SummerSlam is less than three months away and we’ve received some information regarding the top matches that have discussed for the show. The planning of these matches dates back to before Daniel Bryan’s neck surgery, however, Bryan will back in action before August so these preliminary matches could still be in the works:

    – Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt for the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

    – Triple H vs. Roman Reigns. This one has been rumored since around WrestleMania XXX and there’s a very strong chance it will happen. Triple H has handpicked Reigns his next big singles opponent.

    – Brock Lesnar vs. Cesaro. As previously reported, Lesnar is returning this summer and WWE wants him on board for SummerSlam and Night of Champions in September, right after the 6-month mark of the WWE Network.
