  • Backstage News On Which PPV Shows Brock Lesnar May Work This Year

    61

The fact that Brock Lesnar is not scheduled to work this year’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view, which he generally has in the past, could be a sign about how he will be used when he does return.

According to one suorce, the fact that Lesnar isn’t going to be used at Extreme Rules could be a sign that he will work the September pay-per-view, which is Night Of Champions, which would mean whatever program he starts for SummerSlam, where he’s almost guaranteed to appear, will continue on after the show, leading into a rematch or something along those lines at Night Of Champions.

  • (Spoilers) TNA Impact Wrestling Taping Results For June 12, 2014

    3

The following are complete spoiler results for the June 12th edition of TNA Impact Wrestling …

    – Jeremy Borash noted at the beginning of the taping that the company did not know when they would be returning to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

    – Eric Young, MVP, Bobby Lashley and Kenny King came to the ring for a promo segment. It was revealed during the segment that if Young beats two of them, he will get to select the stipulation for the upcoming match at TNA Slammiversary.

    – Bobby Lashley def. Eric Young in a Non-Title match. The previous segment led to Lashley getting the clean pin over Young. After the match, Samoa Joe ran in to make the save for E.Y.

    – James Storm and Mr. Anderson came to the ring for a promo segment. The two talked trash back-and-forth building up to a spot where Storm laid out Anderson with a super kick.

    – Angelina Love def. Madison Rayne with the hair spray gimmick. Pretty typical Knockouts match from these two here.

    – Magnus, Bram and Willow came to the ring for a promo segment. Magnus said he’s going to bring back his tough guy side. Willow reveals that he won’t be alone, as he will have a partner. They end up revealing Abyss as Willow’s partner for the Slammiversary PPV. Willow and Abyss ended up clearing the ring.

    – Knux def. Robbie E. The Menagerie were out at ringside for this match. This was mostly a comedy match. The music was playing throughout the entire match.

    – Eric Young def. Kenny King with a piledriver. This match was pretty short, but was also said to be pretty good.

    – There was a weird paternity test segment. Brooke Tessmacher ended up making her TNA return here. Bully Ray ends up challenging Ethan Carter III to a Texas Death Match at Slammiversary.

    – Gail Kim def. Madison Rayne & Brittany in a three-way match to become the new number one contender to the TNA Knockouts Championship. The Beautiful People were on commentary for this match. They accidentally hit Brittany with the hair spray, which led to Kim getting the win.

    – Eric Young def. MVP via disqualification. Before the match, MVP, Lashley and King did a beat down on Young. As noted, if Young won two out of three matches tonight he would get to pick the stipulation for the match at Slammiversary. MVP ended up bringing a chair into the ring. He sat in it and taunted Young, but ultimately laid Young out with it. Since Young got the win via DQ, he revealed that since MVP can’t win in a fair fight, the two were going to have a steel cage match at Slammiversary.

  • Chris Jericho Speaks On His Relationship With WWE, If He’ll Ever Return

    7

The following are highlights of a new Mirror interview with Chris Jericho:

What’s your position in wrestling at the moment, can we expect to see you back in the WWE anytime soon? “No time soon, I left last July and I’ve been working pretty much non-stop since then between Fozzy tours and doing the new Fozzy record and writing another book and doing my podcasts and a web series. There are a lot of projects in the Chris Jericho pantheon as always. That’s not to say that I won’t go back but I have no plans as of right now, just because I have so much other stuff going on that I’m enjoying. We’ll see, there’s no controversy or animosity it’s more of a timing thing; the timing has to be right for me and right for the WWE as well. When it is I’m sure we’ll both consider me coming back.”

Do you always maintain a constant dialogue with the WWE even when you’re away? “For relevant reasons. Once in a while you’ll shoot texts back and forth with somebody, or if there’s some business thing going on, like if they need something signed or a scan for a video game or something like that but it’s not like I talk to the WWE every week and give them my thoughts on what’s going on with them or they call me and give their opinions on what I’ve been doing. It’s a business relationship and like everything else when you’re gone you’re gone and when you’re back you’re back and if there’s anything in-between on a business level or a personal level I’ll get in contact with them. I have a good relationship with the WWE and there’s no animosity but it’s not like we’re calling each other every day finding out what we had for dinner that night.”

Do you think about your legacy and going into the Hall of Fame when rolls around each year? “I don’t think about that stuff man. I live in the now, I don’t really watch a lot of stuff that I’ve done on the past, I respect the fact that people enjoy my work and I’m very proud of it. When it comes to the Hall of Fame if I get the call and if I’m available … Or if I really want to have some fun with it I’ll just pull a Sex Pistols or an Axl Rose and refuse to show up, and be like, ‘Don’t mention my name I don’t want anything to do with this.’ That would be kind of fun to do. I’ve never been the type of guy that wants that sort of thing. You know if I never wrestle again it won’t bother me, I don’t want the big send-off – I don’t want the big farewell match where I’m in the ring crying in front of 70,000 fans because I’m such a hero and my career is done, I don’t look at it that way. My career continues to move forward. One day much to my fans’ chagrin I won’t be wrestling anymore but I’ll playing rock ‘n’ roll in your town, or I’ll be doing a podcast and you can hear me twice a week, or I’ll be acting in some show or I’ll be doing a spoken word performance. It’s not like I’m just going to dry up and go away when I finish wrestling. Much of what I’ve been doing over the last few years is what I’m going to be doing for the next 20 years or 30 years, and less and less of that will be in-ring performing. Not that I couldn’t still go out there now and kick ass and tear it up because that’s what I do but when the time comes that I feel I couldn’t do that anymore then I won’t do it.”

  • Jim Ross Shares A Story About His Favorite Owen Hart Rib

    4

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke to The Province and revealed one of his favorite Owen Hart rib stories.

    JR said the following:

“I was having a long day in my make-shift office at an arena when I was in charge of the talent roster at WWE. I had an extended conversation with someone that was having substance-abuse issues; that was our suspicion. Owen saw that my door had been closed for several hours. (As I headed to the arena to commentate for the TV broadcast), I catch him coming down the hall, stumbling, bouncing off the walls. I get up close to him, he’s got this white substance under his nose like he’s been doing cocaine. Obviously, Owen was not a drug user at all. Long story short, he’d gone to the desert table at catering and got a powdered doughnut, trying to cheer me up and say, ‘You had a rough day. A lot of us are appreciative of what you’re trying to do to help guys.”

  • Chris Jericho Speaks On His Favorite Match Of All-Time, Fozzy & More

    4

The following are highlights of a new Shining Wizards podcast interview with Chris Jericho:

On if he still gets nervous before he performs, either in the ring or on the stage with Fozzy: “Nervous in a good way. I’m absolutely nervous if I’m going to have a good set, nervous if the people are going to go nuts and that everything is going to work out the way you want it to. I think the day when you don’t feel that (nervousness) is the day where you need to step back and move on to the next thing because it’s not easy. I don’t care if you’ve had 3,000 matches or 3,000 shows under your belt, you just never know what’s going to happen. There’s nothing better than having a great gig or a great match and there’s nothing worse than having a bad one. I’m not nervous where it’s like “oh my gosh what am I going to do?” but nervous in that I want it all to come off good and people leaving saying “holy smokes that was one of the best things we’ve ever seen.” And that’s always my goal, no matter what it is.”

On whether it’s inherent that wrestlers to want to perform in other genres of entertainment: “I don’t think it has anything to do with pro wrestling. I think it’s either your an entertainer or you aren’t. Do I consider myself a wrestler? No. I consider myself an entertainer and have since I was 19 years old. Anything that falls within that umbrella that I think I can do, I’m going to try it. I think that’s the same with anybody, whether it’s Rock, Foley or Austin. I play the part of a wrestler and I enjoy that, and now I’m playing the part of a singer and I enjoy that. If you’re an entertainer and a performer, you like to do different roles, and that’s the way I’ve always looked at things.”

On his success and trials in both wrestling and music: “You do need a little bit of luck, but it’s all hard work, dedication, sacrifice and passion. You have to believe in what you’re doing. You have to know that sometimes it’s going to be roses and sometimes it’s going to be crap. It’s like that with wrestling when I first started and to wrestling now even. It’s funny because sometimes we’ll do a Fozzy show and you get 100 people there and people say how can you work in front of 100 people with Fozzy and you just came from working in front of thousands with WWE. Well, you know, not all WWE shows are sold out either. You can go to Greenville, South Carolina on a Saturday and have 1,500 people in a 20,000 seat arena and then you have WrestleMania that’s got a sold out 70,000 stadium crowd. It’s the same with Fozzy. Sometimes it’s not a good show or a good crowd. One week we are playing for 100 people then the next week we’re playing for 80,000 people on the main stage.”

On his favorite match: “The favorite match that I’ve seen was Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker part one at WrestleMania. I think that’s the best match I’ve ever seen in my life.”

On the best match he’s ever had: “It’s hard. It varies. Again, gun to the head, it’s probably Jericho vs (Shawn) Michaels at No Mercy, ladder match for the World title. And it’s not just because the match itself, which I think is the best ladder match of all time, but because of the circumstances surrounding it and the circumstances that got us there. We had a seven month amazing angle which was one of the greatest of all time in the WWE that was supposed to be a one show only feud but just organically grew into this amazing piece of storytelling that culminated in a ladder match for the World title, which neither one of us were ever supposed to have when the whole thing started. So it was a really cool moment to show what you can do with the right storyline and with the right performers.”
