WWE Network Launches: Vince’s Welcome Message, Technical Difficulties

42

The big day is finally upon us – the WWE Network is LIVE. #WWENetwork is currently trending worldwide on Twitter, indicating a lot of social media buzz.

Discuss the WWE NETWORK On Reddit – Reddit.com/r/WWENetwork

WWE is offering a 1-week trial for the Network, so if you are signing up, make sure to take advantage of that to sample the Network for a full week before committing to the 6-month commitment.

I was able to sign up with no problem at all and watched the first-ever broadcast on the Network, “WrestleMania Rewind.” However, viewing footage from the archived PPV library has been consistently timing out and crashing. At times, Network.WWE.com would not load at all, producing a white screen with the error text, “bamwsv2.” We’ve also heard a lot of people have had difficulty viewing the Network on XBox 360.

Many fans have been reporting technical difficulties while signing up and viewing videos. The front page of of WWE.com has a message that states, “WWE Network Experiencing High Demand” and asks people to “please be patient.”

Below is WWE’s ‘Technical Difficulties’ message – help us out and LIKE the SEScoops Facebook page and SHARE the link below on Facebook.

WWE Elimination Chamber Kickoff Show

The Kickoff Show opens with Josh Mathews welcoming us to a “frigid” Minneapolis, Minnesota. We see a shot of fans filing into the arena and then the camera swings from inside the arena over to the Kickoff Show expert panel. The panel for tonight’s event consists of Mark Henry, The Miz and Rey Mysterio. Miz jokes about the new Kickoff Show set being a nice wedding gift.

All three guys talk about which matches excite them most on tonight’s card. A small “Sexual Chocolate” chant breaks out as Henry runs down his thoughts on some of the matches on tonight’s card. The guys also talk about the tag-team division and how strong it is. Henry stumbles over his words pretty badly when running down his thoughts.

We shoot over to the social media lounge, where Renee Young informs us how to interact via Twitter, etc. She reads some tweets from the “WWE Universe.” She mentions that we should use the hashtag “#WWEChamber” to chat about the show on Twitter.

Now we’re back to the expert panel where Josh Mathews runs down the rules of the actual Elimination Chamber match itself. He then introduces some video packages highlighting the story lines surrounding Randy Orton and his WWE World Heavyweight Championship leading into the Chamber matchup tonight.

The gang talks about how dangerous the Elimination Chamber match is. Once again, Henry is having an awful time trying to put coherent sentences together. The guys talk about who they feel the favorites are in tonight’s Chamber match.

We shoot backstage and Zeb Colter is giving The Real Americans a pep-talk. He tells them that tomorrow night they’ll be able to say the Cesaro is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and that Jack Swagger is the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. He finishes with the usual hand-over-your-heart speech.

After that segment concludes, JBL’s theme music hits and he makes his way out to the commentary table. The fans in Minneapolis give JBL a nice reception. As JBL makes his way to the announce booth, we see some video highlights detailing the history of the Batista and Alberto Del Rio feud.

Another light “Sexual Chocolate” chant breaks out as the Batista-Del Rio video wraps up. Out next is Jerry Lawler. “The King” makes his way to the commentary table to a great reaction and a smattering of “Jerry, Jerry” chants. As he makes his way to ringside, a WWE Network video package airs.

Once the WWE Network video finishes up, we shoot back live into the arena. At the commentary table at ringside, Michael Cole talks about how historic tomorrow night is with the official launch of the WWE Network. JBL and Jerry Lawler talk about how great a deal it is to purchase a WWE Network subscription. We get a closeup shot of Lawler on his iPad pointing out how easy it is to navigate through the WWE Network. He plays a clip of an old SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Goldust & Cody Rhodes vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel (with Larry “The Axe” Hennig)

Now that the WWE Network plugging is done, it’s time for our Kickoff Show match of the evening. Goldust’s theme music hits and out he comes with Cody Rhodes. They make their way to the ring as we get ready for the first match of the evening. After Goldust and Rhodes finish their entrance, Ryback’s music hits and out he comes with Curtis Axel and Axel’s grandfather, Larry “The Axe” Hennig, who is from the Minneapolis area. Hennig gets a nice pop and a decent “Larry, Larry” chant from the Minneapolis fans.

The bell sounds and our first match is officially underway. The action is insanely fast-paced early on. Goldust ends up hitting a crazy dive out to the floor on Ryback and Axel. On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial.

When we return from commercial, Ryback is pounding away on Goldust in the corner of the ring. Ryback stomps away at Goldust on the mat a bit and then tags Axel in. Axel picks up where Ryback left off. We see a shot of Larry Hennig watching on from outside the ring. Hennig has a big smile on his face as his grandson Curtis Axel continues to work over Goldust.

Axel tags Ryback back into the ring. The two hit a double-team move on Goldust in their corner and then Axel heads back out to the apron. Ryback hoists Goldust up for a suplex and holds him up in the air for several seconds before slamming him down to the mat. He tags Axel back in. Goldust starts fighting back now as the crowd rallies behind him. Both guys double-clothesline each other down. Axel is able to get to his feet first and he makes the tag to Ryback.

Ryback beats up Goldust a bit, but Goldust still has some fire left in him. He hits a huricanrana on Ryback and then sends Ryback over-the-top and out to the floor. Both guys make the tag to their respective partners. Rhodes takes the hot tag and is flying all over the place, beating Axel from one side of the ring to the other. Rhodes hits a big moonsault off-the-top on Axel. Rhodes hits an Alabama Slam on Axel. Ryback yanks Rhodes out to the floor but Rhodes hits his disaster kick.

Rhodes jumps off the top-rope to come back into the ring. He was looking to connect on Axel with a missile dropkick but Axel caught him coming in and powerbombs him. All four guys get involved briefly, ending with Rhodes hitting the Cross Rhodes for the 1-2-3. The Rhodes Brothers get the win.

Winners: Goldust & Cody Rhodes

Byron Saxton Interviews The Usos

Backstage, Byron Saxton introduces The Usos. The Usos talk about how their relatives have held the same exact WWE Tag-Team Championships that they are going to compete for tonight. They talk about how they respect The New Age Outlaws and everything they’ve accomplished, but tonight is a new era. They say they have two words for them, “it’s over.”

Renee Young In The Social Media Lounge

We go back to the social media lounge where Renee Young reads off some more tweets from the WWE Universe.

Final Check-In With The Expert Panel

We shoot back to the expert panel where Josh Mathews asks the guys for their predictions on tonight’s Elimination Chamber match. Henry, Miz and Mysterio talk about some of the guys they think has the chance to win tonight before Mathews wraps up the Kickoff Show. We fade away and we’re now just moments away from the start of the WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view!

R-Truth Speaks On Recording Music With Wiz Khalifa, DMX On His Album? & More

16

The following are highlights of a recent Source interview with R-Truth:

On recording music with Wiz Khalifa and whose album it will be on: “On mine, but if he’s doing something that he wants me to be a part of I would be glad to do so. That night was actually Wiz’s first WWE show and he was blown away. I got a chance to talk with him and told him I was working on my next album and asked him if he would be down to be part of it which he agreed – I asked him if he was down to spit a 16 on my next album, and he said “Let me know when, I’m ready” – I asked him if he would be down to walk down the ring with me at any given point he told me he was down for whatever, so that was huge for me. Especially being a fan of his music, the collaboration is going to be banging.”

On other rappers that may appear on his album: “I’ve spoken already with Juvenile. I’m in talks right now with DMX and MGK. I spoke a little bit with E-40 about doing something but thats not confirmed yet, but I’m still working on features. I already got John Cena on two tracks and thats banging already, so expect that.”

On his current WWE character and goals for 2014: “Right now the R-Truth character is pretty much going to the ring and handling business. Me personally, I’m working on this album and working on myself – perfecting my craft every week and everyday. I’m trying to get to that next level. I’m trying to have that talked about match at WrestleMania, if its not this WrestleMania it’s going to be the next WrestleMania because thats why you in this business for, to get into the main event – the Super Bowl of wrestling, and that is WrestleMania.”

  • Jim Ross Blog: In-Depth Thoughts On Tonight’s WWE Elimination Chamber PPV

    2

The following are highlights from the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On tonight’s WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view: “An ‘average’ PPV tonight won’t be acceptable to those involved in the production and execution of the event. Momentum comes from logical, surprises from creative and stellar performances inside the ring.”

“With absolutely NO inside info on tonight’s show, here are my uneducated guesses on the outcome of The Elimination Chamber:”

“Orton retains the WWE World Title but I’m still not sure that it will be Orton vs. Batista at WM30.”

“Curious to see how many talents from the Elimination Chamber main event become involved in issues that carry them into WM30. Where John Cena and Daniel Bryan head out of tonight’s PPV is of interest to me.”

“Because the Shield seems to be simmering on internally boiling over, IE Roman Reigns going it alone at some point, I’m picking the Wyatt Family to win the 6 man tag.”

“Batista will dominate Alberto Del Rio.”

“Jack Swagger provides Big E a solid win in defending the IC Title which is tepid at this point in time. I hope these two former amateur wrestlers have the time to raise some eyebrows.”

“It might be a good night to see the Usos win the Tag Team Titles over the New Age Outlaws unless that title change is saved for WM30. Nonetheless, I’m leaning to the Usos winning in Minny.”

“Traditional thinking would have Titus O’Neil beating his former tag partner Darren Young. Not sure that happens but I’m still thinking that O’Neil cheats to win.”

“In the pre show match, I’ve got the Rhodes Brothers winning over (likely) hometown hero Curtis Axel and Ryback.”

“Dusty Rhodes, who sired both Cody and Dustin Rhodes, and Dick Murdoch were one of the most underrated tag teams, the Texas Outlaws, that I ever saw in my career and did some of their best work in the AWA which was headquartered in the Twin Cities. Some of that work came versus Larry ‘The Axe’ Henning, Axel’s grandfather, and the great Harley Race as Henning and Race were another, simply amazing tag team.”

“Hopeful to hear some saucy info and opinion from the panel of all stars tonight including Mark Henry, Rey Mysterio, and the newly married Miz.”

“The Elimination Chamber needs to leave the air tonight with more questions than answers and a few, timely surprises. In other words, in the ‘old days’ ambitious bookers would make a major statement or two on the last show on PPV leading into the biggest event of the year which is also obviously on PPV.”

  • Dixie Carter Speaks On Decision To Become An On-Air Character, Knockouts & More

    3

The following are highlights of a new Channel Guide Magazine interview with TNA president Dixie Carter:

On the demographic she tries reaching with her product: “Well, I think in the past it’s really a network-mandated situation: What audience does the network want you to go after? In the beginning, it was a very solid male 18 to 49 audience, and we have had outstanding ratings in that category for nine years on Spike TV. We’ve continued to grow them but the network is changing a little bit to target more female viewers … a new direction for them.”

“So, we’re shifting our focus a little bit. Our storylines are becoming a little bit broader, appealing to more of a female demographic and a family demographic than they may have before. We just started that probably three, four months ago and the numbers are already rising. I think our storylines are trying to appeal to that new group and I’m really excited that it’s working.”

On what she feels is unique about her women’s division as compared to other wrestling companies: “I think the fact that I’m a female head of a wrestling company gives me an extraordinary obligation to the women’s division. In the beginning, it was something I was hesitant about. My only introduction to women wrestling was something that I wouldn’t want to be a part of. I’m not saying we’ve done it right the entire time, but we have treated them with such tremendous respect.”

“They’re a very, very important part of this company. I think they’re superior athletes just like the guys are. What we’ve done is try to let their athleticism shine. Instead of putting them out there for two minutes in a ridiculous match as eye candy, we have given them main events, putting them in a prominent place on the show, giving them a lot of time on the show, building their characters, and letting them be shown as the amazing, strong women that they are. I think that’s the difference.”

On the decision to make herself an on-air character: “From the beginning, I think people just assumed I would step in and become a character, and I did resist it for a long period of time. This year they came to me and said, “We feel if we could tie some of our younger, newer talent to you [on the show] that it would really, really help them.” It was something that I didn’t jump at. I really was a little concerned about being able to pull it off, honestly. I’m becoming more and more comfortable with it as time goes by.”

On how she feels wrestling television will change and evolve in the next ten years: “I think it will become more reality. People want to see behind the curtains; people want to know about these guys in real life. I think you’re going to see what traditional wrestling has been morphed into … something that is a blend between real life and fantasy. Even recently, we’ve been playing out real-life storylines in front of the camera — real-life contract disputes, real-life issues with talent. I think you’ll continue to see more of that. That’s what people want.”

Please, please, please, please, have a great show tonight.

As a fan of pro-wrestling – have a great show.

As a father of four who has ordered every PPV for the past year – have a great show.

As the guy whose big Christmas present to his family was a family trip to New Orleans for Wrestlemania, even though he knew he wasn’t likely to appear on the event – have a great show.

On behalf of all those other dads or moms who have done the same thing; spent considerable money on an event that thus far is not capturing our imaginations – have a great show.

As a Disney fan who wouldn’t want to arrive at the Magic Kingdom just to find out all his favorite attractions were closed – have a great show.

As someone who still remembers how it felt to be 18 years old and see Jimmy Snuka dive off the top of the cage – to see the magic pro-wrestling was capable of creating – and knows you have the ability and personnel to make people feel that same magic – have a great show .

As the estranged son who still loves his WWE family, and, no matter what, in some strange way, always will – have a great show.

    Sincerely,

SEScoops Previews WWE Elimination Chamber 2014

    6

Tonight’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view marks the end of an era for WWE. After nearly 3 decades of presenting their top shows exclusively on pay-per-view, the company is dramatically changing their business model by moving the monthly Sunday night shows to the highly anticipated WWE Network subscription service. For that reason, it’s historic event and will set the stage for April’s WrestleMania XXX. Overall it’s a card with two strong matches on top and a few undercard matches that will advance storylines and give us a glimpse of what’s to come on the Road to WrestleMania.

Here’s our 5 Point Preview for WWE Elimination Chamber 2014:

    WWE.com
    WWE.com

    5. Batista vs. Alberto Del Rio

Batista returns to singles action for the first time since 2010. This feud has been brewing on Twitter since before Batista returned at the Royal Rumble. During a segment on RAW featuring Alberto Del Rio, Batista asked ‘who is this guy?’. Del Rio responded with a dig at Batista, which led Batista to call him a “C level star “in a “B level era.”  Their feud has since spilled over onto television, with Batista destroying Del Rio every time.

With Batista challenging for the WWE World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania XXX and Alberto Del Rio’s contract expiring soon, expect Batista to go over strong.

    4. Intercontinental Title Match: Big E (c) vs. Jack Swagger

Big E will actually put his Intercontinental Championship on the line, something we haven’t seen very often in 2014. The buildup for this match has been lackluster at best, while Swagger has been protected in recent weeks.  Swagger looks strong and has his eyes on the prize. Both Swagger and Cesaro are challenging for gold at Elimination Chamber and have a chance to solidify themselves as strong players on the roster.

    3.  Darren Young vs. Titus O’Neil

Darren Young finally gets his chance to get revenge on his former tag team partner, who has gotten the best of him since their breakup. Titus O’Neil has gotten a lot more air time to develop his character since going solo and it’s clear that he’s the one that WWE sees more potential in. Will Titus get the win and move on to bigger things, or will Darren Young be victorious to continue this feud?

    2. The Shield Vs. Wyatt Family

The Shield and The Wyatt Family will finally square off in one of the most anticipated matches in a long time. WWE’s two biggest heel factions will collide in a dream match that fans have been hoping for since the Wyatt Family debuted last year.

Both teams are captained by men who have breakout singles potential. Even though Roman Reigns has been pegged as WWE’s newest “chosen one,” the dissension we’ve seen from The Shield could very well be their downfall. Bray Wyatt is rumored to be facing John Cena at WrestleMania XXX, while Reigns’ next move is more of a wildcard. The Shield could lose this match due to infighting while still keeping Reigns strong. For that reason, a win by the Wyatt Family seems more likely.

WWE has done a great job of building tension between the two groups, with them finally getting physical in the closing segment of Monday’s RAW after weeks of teasing. Whatever the result, this is going to have ‘big match’ feel to it, which is what it’s all about.

    1. Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The 2014 WWE Elimination Chamber match is shaping up to be a good one. Randy Orton has been portrayed as the vulnerable champion since the Royal Rumble, losing high profile matches to almost all of the participants. John Cena is always a threat, Daniel Bryan is the ultimate underdog and Cesaro’s stock has been rising much like WWE’s. Sheamus and Christian could be looked at as filler and are the least likely to walk out a champion, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a big impact in how this match plays out.

Whoever walks out with the gold has Batista waiting in the wings. Perhaps the most interesting takeaway will be whether the winner actually wrestles Batista in the main event of WrestleMania. Orton vs. Batista has been the rumored WrestleMania main event for months – but will the WWE Universe accept this? Will WWE actually proceed with this planned match? With the huge groundswell of support behind Daniel Bryan, there’s a strong possibility that Elimination Chamber will not be the final word regarding the WWE title picture headed into Mania.
