  • Jim Ross Q&A: Big Show’s Career, Undertaker’s Retirement, Montreal Screwjob

    6

The following are highlights from a new online Q&A update by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On if WWE could do more with rivalries in wrestling: “For the most part more can be done for all rivalries. It’s a time consuming process and many fans and decision makers have little or no patience in allowing issues to organically evolve. Too much is over thought.”

On who he considers to be the most “over” star in WWE today: “Daniel Bryan.”

On his thoughts of Big Show’s career: “He’s had a distinguished career. He’s an attraction talent who has been forced to be an every day player which is tough.”

On how many years The Undertaker has left as a performer: “I have no idea. Not as many as he has invested.”

On the Montreal Screwjob: “I’ve addressed this SO many times here at the Q&A’s and on many blogs, etc. I was not aware of what was going to occur in Montreal. I had no idea what was to go down. Don’t recall the talks about bringing Bret back as he had health issues and a significant financial deal with Time Warner.”

  • *Spoiler* Hulk Hogan’s WWE Return Date Revealed

    46

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will be returning to WWE television in two weeks on the February 24th edition of Monday Night RAW from Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This will be the night after the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view and the night that the WWE Network launches.

Hogan reached a deal with WWE to return shortly after he left TNA a few months ago. Initially, there was talk of Hogan appearing at the WWE Network announcement from CES in Las Vegas last month, but the decision was made to hold off on Hogan’s return until the WWE Network launch day. This will mark Hogan’s first WWE television appearance since 2007.

We’re told that longtime Hogan ally Jimmy Hart will also be in attendance at the show to promote ‘Legends House.’

As reported over the weekend, the 2/24 episode of RAW will also feature the long awaited return of The Undertaker.

Mick Foley Speaks On CM Punk’s WWE Departure, Daniel Bryan & More

    12

The following are highlights from a new Live Audio Wrestling interview with WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley:

On CM Punk’s WWE departure: “The last time I touched base with him was after the Rumble and I don’t want to discuss what he said exactly. I’ll just say I wasn’t shocked when he decided to leave because he and I – there is a deep, mutual respect there and we like each other. I would say to him after I watched him at a house show and I would say “geez, you don’t have to work that hard every night” and he would say “if I didn’t I wouldn’t be here” and I respect the work ethic and I understand if you’re hurt and you’re not enjoying yourself that it’s not the place to be.”

“I would hate to see CM Punk turn into what I did where my philosophy became “good enough is going to have to be good enough” and it wasn’t that philosophy that helped me succeed, to get me into the WWE Hall of Fame and I kind of regret going through a few years where things had to be that way. I don’t think Punk wants anyone to see him at anything less than his best and I know he’d been frustrated for a while. He’s a pretty outspoken guy and in the end he’ll make the decision that’s best for him. What I said and I’ll repeat for you guys, if he can reconsider one thing it’s not to let whether or not he’s officially the main event dictate how good his match is. If he had a big match coming up at WrestleMania I would encourage him to at least think about taking advantage of that. In 2006, in no way, shape or form were Edge and I the main event of WrestleMania but we had a great match…I didn’t walk away from that WrestleMania thinking it was any less special because we weren’t the feature so that’s the only piece of advice I’d give him, not to let those words “main event” dictate how important the match is but if your heart’s not in it, it’s not in it.”

On not being in the WrestleMania 15 main event and comparisons to Punk and Daniel Bryan: “There’s a piece of video, I think it’s been lost now, on the WWE (website) where I actually was asked about the match after I had lost the title to The Rock in February where it was obvious I was out of the WrestleMania main event picture and I didn’t realize how much it meant to me, what a blow it was and I broke down, I just started crying for real, on the interview. I didn’t realize it until that moment that “man, my one chance is gone”. I’ll be honest Daniel Bryan is more over than I ever was.”

“You have to seize these moments in time, I had confidence that even if that wasn’t my moment I was going to be okay and I had the ability, my character blended with a lot of guys in the ring. But I think this is a special moment and the WWE risks losing it if they don’t capitalize on it. I’ll be watching as a fan, I still love the company and by and large I still love the product, but I will be watching eagerly and hoping for the best possible outcome. I did receive confirmation that I will be involved in three or four events during WrestleMania week so I will be there, I will be part of the company that week and I want what’s best for the company and in my opinion that involves Daniel being a big part of that show.”

  • MVP Speaks On Goals In TNA, Hogan/Sting Leaving TNA, Chris Benoit, More

    16

New TNA star MVP recently appeared on the v2 Wrestling Podcast. The following are some highlights from the interview:

On his goals in TNA: “WWE is a spectacular company, and their market saturation and visibility is monstrous, but the most prosperous time during the history of wrestling was during the Monday Night Wars when WWF was going head-to-head with WCW. You had 12 million people a week tuning in to watch wrestling, and the fans benefited as well as the wrestlers. TNA is a smaller company and doesn’t have the outreach and audience that WWE does, but I’d like to try, along with some of the other guys, to move the needle a little bit, and try to create something where fans can go ‘Hey, this is really cool, there’s something going on over here that we can watch as well,’ because I firmly believe that there’s room for two big dogs in the yard.”

On the TNA departures of Hulk Hogan and Sting: “While it’s sad to see them go, it’s also tremendously exciting to see that void filled by new stars who are stepping up and working hard to try to become legends in their own right.”

On Chris Benoit: “When I got signed, we travelled together, we trained together, and he was hugely responsible for my success. Of course, you can’t condone what he did, but I tell people all the time, there’s an issue with mental illness. There’s a stigma attached to it. If someone has cancer, we feel sorry for them, but if somebody has a mental breakdown, we don’t feel the same way. All those negative connotations make people sometimes not want to get help if there’s something going wrong. What Chris did was horrible, it was tragic, but I knew him personally, and I knew that he loved his wife and child, and I had been to that home and I had interacted with them personally.”

On WWE airing Benoit footage on the WWE Network: “I think that’s a good thing, because regardless of what happened out of the ring, he is without question one of the best in-ring technicians that ever existed. So, if you’re a fan of wrestling then you have to be a fan of Chris Benoit the wrestler, and maybe not so much Chris Benoit the tragic murderer.”
