Jim Ross Q&A: MVP In TNA, Kurt Angle/WWE, Hogan Wrestling Again, Cesaro

22

The following are highlights from a new website Q&A update by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On Antonio Cesaro: “Cesaro is a star who’s underutilized and is a stalwart in the locker room. Fans like him out of respect for his in ring work. Flip a switch on him and it’s done.”

On Justin Gabriel: “Not sure why Justin Gabriel hasn’t made more of an impact. Something is missing from the equation.”

On the possibility of Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns headlining a future WrestleMania: “Sure, it’s possible. Time will tell. All must remain healthy and avoid issues.”

On whether or not Hulk Hogan has one match left in him: “If true, it’s a great idea but I don’t need to see Hulk attempt to wrestle.”

On MVP working in TNA: “He’s a positive, fresh face that should help TNA if they plan long term, utilize MVP’s skills and lessen Dixie’s presence on their show. ”

On the WWE Network: “I’m WAY out of the WWE Network loop. I’m not aware of how they will deal with the many issues that are likely to pop up for the start up. I’m hopeful that the Network is successful for many reasons even though some fans will find things wrong with it just because that’s their usual MO.”

On Kurt Angle returning to WWE: “Lots of things have to happen for Angle to return to WWE including extensive medical, etc testing. His in ring days are very limited.”

Terry Funk Shares His Thoughts On CM Punk’s WWE Departure

1

WWE Hall Of Famer Terry Funk recently shared his thoughts on CM Punk’s WWE departure in a new interview with Fighting Spirit Magazine. The following is an excerpt:

“It’s a smart move on [Punk’s] part. If you look at what Vince has done, if someone has drawn him some money they will be on the card at WrestleMania, no matter what has happened between them. CM Punk will be back, because if he isn’t, Vince leaves money on the table.”

“If being in the last match at WrestleMania is his wish, then he’s going to try and make it come true, the only way possible. He’s put the ball back in Vince’s court, and that’s difficult because Vince has the only court. This is what made it so good about having several places to go [in years past].”

“Do you think CM Punk worries about the dollars? For all the great ones, it’s not about that. They might tell you that they’re in it for the money, but they’re not – they’re in it for the performance, and so is CM Punk.”

Big E. Langston Speaks On His Creative Input, Misconceptions About WWE Stars

4

WWE Superstar Big E. Langston recently spoke with AZCentral.com. The following are highlights from the interview.

On how much say he has in his character: “There’s always give and take. The most successful characters and personas are extensions of the person who plays them. It’s pretty much me, for the most part. As a powerlifter, I kind of use those abilities in what I do now. It’s essentially me, but I’m still not sure how we came up with Big E Langston.”

On biggest misconceptions about pro wrestlers: “People know we have Raw and Smackdown, and they know the TV schedule, but they don’t know how extensive our live events are. We’re constantly busy doing charity events, personal appearances and stuff like interviews on our day off. Even in the off-season, the schedule is exhausting. People may be surprised by how busy we are, but it’s very rewarding.”

Jim Ross Blog: Lita’s WWE HOF Induction, Roman Reigns, Monday’s RAW

1

The following are highlights from the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On last night’s RAW: “Raw can be best described by yours truly as a solid show, not spectacular, but serviceable over the three hour ‘cruise.'”

“Some of the in ring product was good and will mean more with the same level of bouts in the future if the rivalries and the skill sets of the talents continue to be addressed.”

“Appears to be very obvious that many talents need to kick their way out of their comfort zones and tweak a few wrinkles of their in ring presentation. The same sequencing week after week doesn’t make one special.”

“It makes them the same.”

“The same is not wrestling code talk for ‘special.'”

On Roman Reigns: “The follow up on Roman Reigns success at the Royal Rumble was timely. Newly minted, potential main eventers cannot grow on an every other week basis. Reigns needs his weekly moments on RAW to eventually arrive at the Promised Land including a ‘moment’ at WM30. Don’t over think it…Reigns needs to leave NOLA with an enhanced perception. Case closed…per the late Ernie Ladd.”

On The Usos: “WWE has done a really nice job of rehabilitating the TV image of the Usos who seem poised to win the Tag Titles sooner than later. Just a year ago the WWE Tag Team scene was flaccid but it’s making a nice comeback.”

On John Cena vs. Randy Orton: “Admire Orton and Cena working hard and telling a viable story in their main event in a 20+ minute main event. I like these longer main events and even though these two have wrestled countless times, I felt that they had a solid, show closing bout. At the end of the night, I am not quite sure how much momentum WWE World Champion Orton is going to have going into the Elimination Chamber and to a lesser degree for WM30 which may be the game plan.”

On Lita’s Hall Of Fame Induction: “Very proud of Amy Dumas aka Lita who will be inducted in the WWE HOF class of 2014 in NOLA the night before WM30. I had heard this info leaded from WWE a couple of weeks ago but did not want to contribute to spoiling the surprise. I did vividly remember meeting Amy in my Stamford office years ago when she came in for a job interview. She had been bold and brave enough to live alone in Mexico to train and develop a different skill set from other females and she eventually became one of WWE’s biggest stars, male or female, during my time in talent relations. There;s a funny story about her less than dainty shoulder tattoo that played into her job interview that I tell on our RINGSIDE shows.”

Lita Issues Statement About Her WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

22

Amy “Lita” Dumas has released the following statement after it was announced that she’ll be entering the WWE Hall of Fame this year:

“YO! Congrats to all of us! I heard you on social media, repping “LITA HOF 2014” signs at shows, and hashtagging your little hearts out. Your voices were heard! What better place than Wrestlemania 30!

I was so proud watching my bestie enter the 2013 class in the Hall of Fame. I know how hard she had worked, I watched her develop as a wrestler, talent, and woman over the years. I know fans were excited to see our generation of women represented in the HOF.

Often in the same breath, I heard support from fans expressing their desire for me to join the ranks of my piers as well. I had hoped at some point I would, but didn’t realize it would be just around the corner.

I tend to have an expect the worse philosophy so I won’t be let down, which seems like a pessimistic outlook when I tend to be such a positive person. Maybe not pessimistic, maybe more self preservation.

So much goes into selecting each class and watching each person touches me in a slightly different way, although it is always a similar sense of joy for each person to be able to have that moment where they are able to reflect on their journey and the fans have an opportunity to show their support.

When I played with my band, The Luchagors, my guitar player, Shane, had this exact opposite approach. Every day was going to be “the best day ever” “the best show ever” “the best meal ever” Every event was about to be the best ever.

The thought of that ideology, while endearing, was SO annoying to me! It just clashed with my self preservation. This show at this BBQ joint 35 minutes south of Louisville, KY is NOT going to be the best ever, and that’s okay. But, just stop saying it is! Let’s just revel in the awkward, “fun”comfortable moment that we are all sharing. Not everyone can say they have played a show in a BBQ restaurant with the 97 year old owner hooked up to a respirator shoved in the corner in a wheelchair. Should I say hello? Maybe better to act like I don’t notice she’s there? I know, dedicate a song to her. I can’t make this sh** up, people.

I appreciate that not every day is the best day ever. At this point in my life, I can reflect on everything I’ve ever been through and know that I have learned, grown, and evolved from it. I can appreciate the good and the bad and derive an equal appreciation from each event.

For every weird Texas Chainsaw BBQ show, there was a run in at a TLC match at the Astrodome. For every full body cry I’ve had, I have had uncontrollable laughter.

So, here I am Class of 2014 Hall of Fame, the dumpster diving punk rock kid that was never supposed to make it, but with too much kid power to let anything get in my way, gearing up to give a speech and accept my position in front of the ultimate under dog of a city.

It seems kind of like the best thing ever-

xxx,

Amy”

The Shield did a similar routine over the weekend, running down CM Punk at live events.

– The dark match main event that took place after RAW went off the air saw John Cena, Daniel Bryan and Batista defeat the Wyatt Family by disqualification. The finish came when Bray Wyatt and Eric Rowan attacked Batista, who had given Luke Harper a spear and was about to give him a Batista Bomb.

Cena and Bryan then chased Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper out of the ring, leaving Rowan alone with the babyfaces. Cena hit him with the AA, Batista hit him with the spear, and Bryan hit him with a running knee to end the show.
