– With Shawn Michaels’ surprise appearance on Monday’s RAW and upcoming gig as the special guest referee at WWE Hell in a Cell, there’s buzz in WWE that he can be talked back into wrestling a match at WrestleMania XXX.

The following are results for this week’s WWE Main Event, which was taped on Tuesday night in Columbus, Ohio.

Dark Match

-Alicia Fox def. Rosa Mendes. This was apparently a snoozefest. Alicia got the win over the now blond-haired Mendes.

WWE Main Event

-3MB def. Tons Of Funk in a Handicap Match. The trio of Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater picked up the win in a 3-on-2 match against Brodus Clay and Tensai, who were accompanied by the Funkadactyls, Cameron and Naomi.

-Tamina Snuka def. Aksana. AJ Lee was not in the corner of Tamina, who dominated the majority of the match against Aksana before picking up the easy win.

-Big E. Langston def. Zack Ryder. Ryder actually got in some decent offense in certain spots during this match. There was also a smattering of “Ryder” chants during the contest. In the end, the larger Langston was too much for the Long Island native.

Final RAW Rating For Monday: How Did The Post-Battleground Show Draw?

Monday’s post-Battleground edition of WWE RAW scored a final cable rating of 2.7, according to Nielsen Media Research.

RAW on Monday did hours of 3.69 million viewers, 3.74 million and 3.69 million for an overall average of 3.71 million viewers, making it the third lowest number of the year.

As far as competition on television on Monday is concerned, the NFL game that went against RAW drew 11.45 million viewers, and the MLB playoff game that went against the show drew 4.50 million viewers. Considering the similar demographic, RAW numbers on Monday aren’t terrible, but obviously aren’t anything to brag about either.

WWE Seeking Seat-Fillers For SmackDown Taping, RAW Viewership For Monday

-WWE sent out a notice requesting seat-fillers for Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown and Main Event television taping in Columbus, Ohio. The notice reads: “We are in need of at least 60 seat fillers for our use during the event. Your main purpose this evening is to assist the television production.”

-Monday’s post-WWE Battleground edition of RAW averaged 3.706 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. The 3.706 million viewers is up from last week’s average of 3.583 million viewers.

-According to various reports, WWE Superstar John Cena was actually cleared by WWE’s doctors to return to in-ring action at the October 27th Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. That, along with details in our previous report about concerns within WWE that they have alienated their pay-per-view buying audience, is the reason Cena is returning to action so much sooner than originally planned.

Backstage Reason WWE Is Stacking The Deck For The Hell In A Cell PPV

The reason WWE is stacking the deck so heavily at the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view is due to reported concerns that they may have alienated their pay-per-view buying audience with the way they have handled the main event situation on the past couple of pay-per-views.

As noted previously, fans demanded refunds following the recent WWE Night Of Champions pay-per-view due to the fact that they paid for a finish that was completely erased and overturned less than 24 hours later on the free WWE RAW television show that followed the next night. Additionally, fans were loudly chanting “refund, refund” after the non-finish to Sunday’s WWE Battleground pay-per-view in Buffalo.

Due to the fact that WWE has handled the main events, which are what pay-per-views are largely sold on, so poorly at their last few shows, the feeling in the company is they need to regain that trust with their pay-per-view buying audience at Hell In A Cell, which is why there seems to be such emphasis on guaranteeing a legitimate finish in the main event, as well as other major selling points to support it underneath. Basically, the company is stacking the deck so heavily that it pretty much guarantees that anyone who buys the show this time will get their money’s worth.

For those reasons, WWE has brought back John Cena earlier than expected for a match against Alberto Del Rio, as well as guaranteed a new WWE Champion in the third-straight pay-per-view main event between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan. While they basically guaranteed a winner for the same match at Battleground, they are stressing that this match will be in a Hell In A Cell, which assures viewers that there will be no outside interference, and they have Shawn Michaels as a special guest referee to give further confidence to their fans that there will be a legitimate outcome this time around.

It’s a no brainer why WWE needs their top star back as quickly as possible but is Cena returning too soon? Perhaps Del Rio travels to Florida and takes Cena out prior to the HIAC but not likely. Sounds like an old, Watts angle.”

On Stephanie McMahon and Big Show: “Thought the opening segment was a hit. Stephanie McMahon had control of her promo and it did not sound un-organic. Talents who memorize their ‘lines’ and then present them as such ruins it for me. Yep, I might be too old school for today’s product but I tune out and disconnect when I feel someone is talking to me from any place other than their heart.”

On CM Punk and Paul Heyman: “Significant albeit surprising opportunity for R Truth tagging with CM Punk vs. Heyman’s duo. Yes, it sets up a match for Smackdown but what else down the road? I don’t feel Punk’s angst toward Heyman was much as I did a few weeks ago. Is that just me?”

RAW Draws Lowest Post-PPV Social Media Score Of 2013, Bryan/Cancer Kid Video

-Monday’s edition of WWE RAW drew the lowest social media score for a post-pay-per-view edition of the show for the entire year of 2013. RAW scored 256,024 last night, according to Trendrr.tv, which was actually up 15 percent compared to last week’s dreadful numbers.

-WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan reunited with a local Pittsburgh fan fighting cancer during Monday’s edition of WWE RAW. WPXI out of Pittsburgh posted a video of Bryan greeting the young boy, Connor Michalek, which you can check out online at WPXI.com.

-Tickets for the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view went on sale to those who were in attendance at WWE RAW on Monday night. The official pre-sale for Rumble tickets is now available as well, with the code: RUMBLE. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday.

-WWE Superstar The Miz (Mike Mizanin) celebrates his 33rd birthday today. Miz was born on October 8, 1980.

-As noted on Monday’s edition of WWE RAW, WWE Superstar Rob Van Dam is taking time off from WWE. The official WWE website ran an article about the situation, trying to put a storyline spin on the issue by claiming Van Dam is taking time off due to the fact that he is not 100 percent “mentally and spiritually.” WWE also announced that RVD revealed his decision during an exclusive interview for the WWE Battleground DVD. Del Rio Comments On John Cena’s Return, Sammartino’s RAW Appearance

– As seen on last night’s RAW from Pittsburgh, hometown hero and WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino made a surprise appearance in front of the live crowd during a commercial break. Jerry Lawler led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday to the Living Legend, who turned 78 the prior day.

According to f4wonline.com, the script for Monday night’s RAW did not include anything about Sammartino being in attendance. WWE COO Triple H reportedly called Sammartino on Monday afternoon and invited him to the show at the last minute.

Following the televised portion of Monday’s WWE RAW, which ended with Big Show knocking out WWE COO Triple H, WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan continued his celebration. Bryan went as far as to steal the suit coat off of HHH’s back and wear it as he continued his celebration standing on top of the announce table to a loud “Yes!” chant from the crowd. Bryan also took JBL’s hat and put it on.

After that, the post-RAW dark match took place, which featured Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton. The following are results from that bout:

-Daniel Bryan def. Randy Orton. Bryan picked up the victory over Orton, and after the match, The Shield ran in to beat up Bryan. This led to Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes and Goldust coming out to make the save.

The announcement was made during the third and final hour of RAW, as Vickie Guerrero selected Ricardo Rodriguez as Del Rio’s opponent for RAW. Before the match could begin, however, Guerrero revealed that Del Rio would be facing Cena at the Hell In A Cell show, which led to Rodriguez upsetting Del Rio in the RAW match.

On Monday’s post-Battleground edition of WWE RAW, the main event for the October 27th WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view from Miami, Florida was announced.

In a move that should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody, it was announced that a rematch between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan would be held in a Hell In A Cell match, where a new WWE Champion was guaranteed to be determined on the night.

Additionally, it was announced that the match would feature a special guest referee. RAW General Manager Brad Maddox announced that there would be three WWE Hall Of Fame candidates for the WWE Universe to vote for, with the man receiving the most votes being the official for the contest. The three options were Booker T, Bob Backlund and Shawn Michaels. The man who received the most votes, and will officially be the referee of the match, was Shawn Michaels.

So there you have it. Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan in a Hell In A Cell match at the next pay-per-view, with special guest referee Shawn Michaels.

-WWE Superstar John Cena posted a tweet on his official Twitter account in reaction to the news that he will be facing Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view on Sunday, October 27th in Miami, Florida. Cena wrote:

-As previously reported, WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee was sent home from RAW on Monday night due to concussion symptoms. According to one source, Lee was originally scheduled to face Kaitlyn at the show, but due to the fact that she was sent home, the match was changed to Kaitlyn vs. Tamina Snuka and moved over to the WWE Superstars taping, which was held prior to RAW.

-The official WWE Tout website featured a backstage interview with WWE Hall Of Famer Bob Backlund, who appeared on the show as one of three WWE Hall Of Fame candidates selected as potential special referee’s for the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell main event between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan. -Monday’s WWE RAW, the post-Battleground edition of the show, opened with Stephanie McMahon calling out Big Show to explain his actions in ruining the WWE Championship main event between Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton at Sunday’s pay-per-view. Big Show acted nonchalant about his actions and refused orders to beg the WWE Universe for forgiveness. Additionally, Big Show revealed that he knocked out Bryan per orders of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, and knocked out Orton and the returning senior official, Scott Armstrong, because he had enough. As a result, Stephanie McMahon slapped Big Show in the face multiple times and then “fired” him from the company.

-Also on Monday’s RAW, WWE Hall Of Famer Bob Backlund made an appearance. As noted recently, Backlund appeared at some of the recent WWE non-televised live events, including Friday’s show in Syracuse, New York. Backlund appeared as one of three WWE Hall Of Famers who the WWE Universe could vote for as the special referee for the WWE Hell In A Cell main event between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan.

Hulk Hogan Does Promotional Interview For This Week’s Impact Wrestling Taping

Pro wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, who “quit” TNA on last week’s taped edition of Impact Wrestling on Spike TV, recently did a promotional interview for this week’s TNA television taping in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

While Hogan mentioned that he may not be at the taping this week, it is a bit curious when stepping outside of the storylines and analyzing the real-life contract situation with Hogan and TNA, considering the fact that Hogan’s contract reportedly expired on October 1st, and he is still promoting future TNA events.

Hogan, who played up his television feud with company president Dixie Carter, told the Tulsa World recently, “I think Dixie has flipped the switch or something, she’s off on a tangent here.”

Additionally, Hogan spoke as if he is still part of the behind-the-scenes effort to build the current TNA television product by saying, “It’s an artform and a lot of the artform has been lost because the TV demands that things happen fast and get out of the ring. So we’re trying to make wrestling how it should be.”
