The Reason Stephanie McMahon Has Sold $8.3 Million In WWE Stock This Year

43

The New York Post has revealed that WWE executive Stephanie McMahon has been selling off her stock this year to finance the construction of a new home for her family.

According to documents filed with the SEC, McMahon has sold a total of 833,000 shares of WWE stock during 43 separate occasions, netting her approximately $8.3 million.

As part of of the selloff, she converted nearly 1.3 million shares of McMahon Family Class B stock into common Class A stock, which was then cashed in.

When asked about Stephanie selling off her WWE stock, WWE issued the following statement:

“Stephanie McMahon is selling a portion of her Class B shares for personal financial purposes that include building a house.”

Stephanie sold approximately one-third of her stake in WWE stock this year.

Cena On His Rapid Recovery From Injury, Watching Raw As A Fan, Will He Alter His Wrestling Style?

14

Though initially pegged to be sidelined for as many as six months due to a triceps tear, John Cena will return to the ring after only two months on October 27 at Hell in a Cell to challenge Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship. WWE.com spoke to the 11-time WWE Champion and two-time World Heavyweight Champion about his injury, how it feels to watch Raw at home, and more.

Cena says he’s not surprised about his rapid return to the squared circle, as he’s “happy with the way everything has gone.”

“I didn’t feel too bad when the injury happened,” states Cena. “It started to really be a pain in my neck about two weeks before SummerSlam. I had to tell the greatest surgeon in the world that I have a physical therapy team that I’m extremely familiar with. In doing therapy, it’s good to know that the therapist will push you. A lot of times, people are reserved or maybe scared of testing what your body is capable of. I’m not. I have complete faith in my surgeon. When it was time to test range of motion a little bit or test strength a little bit, a lot of people — if it’s their first surgery — they want to wait a few weeks before they do that. I kind of want to say, “Hey I got a new arm. Let’s see how it works.”

As a result of the recovery process, Cena can only catch up with Raw from the comfort of his own home as a fan. Cena, however, says watching the show as a fan “[is] something [he does] anyway.”

“It’s just in a greater capacity when you can no longer physically contribute,” said Cena. “At all Live Events, I’m watching somewhere, whether peeking behind a curtain or peering at a TV backstage. I watch just as much WWE as almost anyone, but I love to. It’s something I enjoy doing. I don’t force myself to watch. I get excited for Mondays. I get excited to see the show.”

Another question posed to Cena is whether his injuries will force him to alter his in-ring style. He says, “If you broke down my technique, it wouldn’t really take a rocket scientist to do so. I don’t know how you could take something so basic and do less [laughs].”

Much more is contained in the interview, as Cena discusses the recovery process, his upcoming match against Del Rio, going after the World Heavyweight Championship as opposed to the WWE Championship, learning Mandarin, and more. The full interview is available here.

Jim Ross Blog: WWE Performance Center, Being Drafted To SmackDown In 2008

7

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has published a new blog entry on JrsBarBq.com. Here are some highlights.

On being drafted to SmackDown back in 2008: I was asked about being ‘drafted’ to Smackdown in 2008 and my reaction to such. Obviously, if you were watching I wasn’t enthralled about that creative move which I think was an inside joke that someone in creative sold upper management on just to see my reaction. Of course, I could be wrong but I did not, and still do not, see any reason for breaking Jerry Lawler and me up.

That’s simply how i feel and it may well be my ego talking so take those comments with a grain of salt. That was a turning point for me as it relates to truly having fun on the road doing TV. At that point, it came more like a job which is how many broadcasters today perceive their work. Until then, I had never approached that role in that manner. I had been told the night before the Draft in San Antonio that I wasn’t going any where and that why would WWE break up “Madden and Summerall?”

WWE Performance Center: Nothing in WWE is more important than what goes on in the WWE Performance Center. Nothing. I expect that procedures there to continue to evolve in every way including the personnel who are depended upon to coach up the prospects. Over time, I’m thinking that WWE must continue to invest in that process as it relates to teaching methods and overall approach. Every great system has to be continually re-evaluated and refined. The future of WWE rests in Orlando at the Performance Center.

Dan Hodge in the WWE HOF: On the WWE HOF topic that so many ask me about, for Dan Hodge not to be in the WWE HOF is another name that can be added to the list of ‘head scratchers.’ Hodge is in every Hall of Fame in the sport, both amateur and pro, except WWE, if I’m not mistaken. Dan was a legend in the days before cable TV, etc and of all the Oklahomans who are in the WWE HOF Danny Hodge is the most deserving. Plus, Hodge was a star in the Louisiana territory aka Mid South Wrestling that made New Orleans it’s top market. Dan is in his 80?s and can likely still beat a large percentage of pro wrestlers in the biz or at least those that play the role of a pro wrestler on television.

AJ Styles’ Book Release Date Put On Hold, According To Publisher

18

AJ Styles’ upcoming biography has been put on hold, according to David Dee of VIP Ink Publishing. He sent along the following statement today:

“After months of board meetings between VIP Ink Publishing, L.L.C. and A. J. Styles both sides have come to the agreement to slow down on the release date of the book due to waiting on copyright approvals, a few more interviews, as well as the timing of the match for the Heavy Weight Championship with Bully Ray. We feel that the fans deserve nothing but the very best and that is what we intend to give them.

While we know this is a disappointment, we want the fans to know, we are just as disappointed as you are. As both sides continue to work diligently together, please keep a watchful eye to the website www.vipinkpublishing.com and A. J. Styles’ facebook page facebook.com/ajstylesorg for more updates. As soon as we have a release date and cover layout, we will release another press release.”

The Miz Wants To Be World Heavyweight Champion, Dolph Ziggler Talks Bullying (Video)

31

– The Miz spoke with The Khaleej Times about his goal to become World Heavyweight champion:

“I’ve held every single title besides one: the World Heavyweight Championship,” The Miz said. “I’m a four-time Tag Team champion, two-time United States champion, two-time Intercontinental champion, one-time WWE champion, two-time Slammy Award-winner.”

“Every opportunity I get, I’m taking, and when I get the opportunity to go for the World Heavyweight Championship, guess what? I’m taking it.”

Also during the interview, Miz talks about WWE’s Wellness program, wrestling as a babyface, and other various topics.

– Dolph Ziggler spoke with CBS Pittsburgh earlier this week about bullying:

“I was lucky enough to not be bullied, but I was around it and I’ve seen it happen and I’ve seen people just stand around and do nothing. It’s not that you are as bad as the bully, but you are not helping, so find a way.”

Chavo Guerrero Talks Business Situation In TNA, Vickie Guerrero’s Success In WWE

5

The following are highlights from a recent Miami Herald interview with Chavo Guerrero:

On the business situation in TNA: “When TNA went live, it was either going to take off or it was not going to take off. It’s a crucial time right now in TNA, and I really hope it takes off because it’s better for the business, better for the wrestlers, better for the fans, better for everybody. They got the right players in place, but they have to tweak it all…You can’t beat our wrestlers. Our roster is incredible. The wresters, we are all doing our part. We are all trying. You can only do so much…”

“It’s a business. I’ve seen that exact same thing in every other company I’ve been in. It’s the nature of the beast. They are making what they think are the best decisions for the company. That’s the way it is. That’s in any business. I know people that are teachers, and they are let go. They are great teachers, but for some reason they are let go. It’s just the way it is.”

On the success of Vickie Guerrero in WWE: “Nobody knew. She didn’t know. We didn’t go, ‘Okay, we are going to make her the next big thing.’ It just happened. She is a total natural. She is so good she doesn’t even know how good she is. She is a general manager that doesn’t really wrestle, and she is the biggest heel in wrestling basically. They hate her. That’s a big thing to have a general manager who is not a wrestler have the most heat in the company. Eddie is looking down smiling saying, ‘That’s my girl.'”

Update On Recent WWE Tryout: Who Was Signed?, Richards/Edwards

As far as former Ring Of Honor standouts Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards are concerned, neither have heard anything from WWE as of October 8th, despite the fact that both guys have people within the company who would like to see them signed.

Other wrestlers at the tryout, including Sean Burke, Tony Delfonzo and Todd Hanson, received e-mails on October 7th from the company stating that they should stay in touch with WWE, but that they are not going to be signed this time around.

Vince McMahon’s Reaction To Battleground Power Outage & His WMXXX Concerns

15

-Apparently Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn “flipped their lids” when the power outage happened at the recent WWE Battleground pay-per-view in Buffalo. McMahon is reportedly paranoid that something similar, or worse, could happen at WrestleMania XXX next year, as the event will be held in the same venue that the NFL’s Super Bowl was in when they had the same problem. McMahon’s concern is that not only are they going to be in the same building, but that WrestleMania uses more power than the Super Bowl when you factor in all of the lighting, pyro and other production elements.

-According to several key employees in WWE, the feeling is former football player-turned wrestler Mojo Rawley is the breakout performer with the most potential in the current crop of talent working in the WWE NXT developmental system.

Story Behind HHH Buying Big Show’s House, Wade Barrett Gimmick Change Update

16

-Apparently the WWE television storyline where Triple H bought Big Show’s house was taken from the CM Punk DVD that the company produced. On the documentary portion of the DVD, a real-life story was told where Joey Mercury was facing financial problems due to some personal issues he was experiencing, and as a result, Punk bought Mercury’s house for him.

-It’s said to be unlikely that WWE Superstar Wade Barrett’s new gimmick will be the “Bad News Barrett” character that we see on the weekly JBL & Cole Show that appears on the official WWE YouTube channel. Many in the company feel it would be surprising if the higher-ups chose to use anything that is featured on YouTube on their actual television storylines. Regardless, the rumors are true that the company is planning on repackaging Barrett, simply because the feeling is the roster is lacking depth in the heel department.

News On Chaos Backstage At Battleground, Employees Gambling On PPV Finishes

7

-The scene backstage at the recent WWE Battleground pay-per-view was said to be a chaotic one, as the script for the show was finalized on the Friday before the event, but the WWE creative team weren’t told the finishes of the matches until approximately two hours before the show began. This would explain the drastic swings in the betting odds for the show, as the belief is people in WWE call or text friends or family to place bets for them as soon as they become aware of the final creative plans. Obviously, the WWE employees themselves won’t place their own bets for fear that they will be traced back to them.

Details On Post-HIAC PPV Plans, Reason For Recent Creative Slump In WWE

12

-According to one source, WWE was originally going to focus on a Big Show vs. Randy Orton feud following the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view on October 27th. Apparently, the new plan is for WWE to promote a three-way program that features Big Show vs. Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan.

-Several people within WWE are of the opinion that ever since Eric Pankowski left the company before this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, the creative direction has gone downhill.

After a lengthy career in Hollywood, Pankowski was hired by WWE in February of 2012 as the Senior Vice President of Creative and Development. Many credited Pankowski with the great creative run that WWE experienced over the past year, and feel that direction has suffered since his departure from the company.

Update On Hulk Hogan’s Future With WWE/TNA, WWE Hall of Fame & WM30

56

With Hulk Hogan currently a free agent, most people within WWE believe that he’ll wind up back with TNA. That said, there is still interest in negotiating with Hogan to bring him in for WrestleMania XXX. At the end of the day, it’s going to come down to how much money TNA is willing to offer him.

There are plans to induct either Randy Savage or the Ultimate Warrior into the WWE Hall of Fame. In the event that either man is inducted, WWE wants Hulk Hogan to induct them.

WWE wants a big legend to be part of a match at WrestleMania, to help make the 30th anniversary show feel special and to help keep the buyrate over 1 million buys. With The Rock and Steve Austin most likely not wrestling, WWE could make Hogan a strong offer to get him on board. Last year’s WrestleMania numbers came in lower than expected and the feeling is that The Rock’s drawing power has diminished.

If WWE’s unable to get either Hogan, Rock or Austin to wrestle, another selling point for the show could be hyping the Undertaker’s match as his retirement match.

With Sandow turning babyface, he won’t be doing his cartwheel celebration anymore. NXT star Aiden English is currently using that gimmick and Vince McMahon thinks it will hurt Sandow’s character if he’s doing the same thing as a developmental wrestler.

Update On Why Michael Hayes Is Taking Time Off, BG James Gaining Power

17

It is rumored that WWE official Michael Hayes has been suspended by WWE for giving alcohol to WWE Diva Rosa Mendes just days after she returned from work and underwent treatment for alcohol dependency.

Former WWE writer Court Bauer recently revealed on the MLW Radio Show that Hayes is taking time off from WWE to deal with “personal issues.”

Hayes had been working directly with Triple H on booking live events. During his absence from WWE, former WWE Superstar Brian “Road Dogg” James has been taking on a bigger role behind the scenes. Aside from working TV tapings and live events, James is also working a lot at WWE headquarters and attending creative meetings.
