  • Jim Ross Q&A: Austin & Hogan, Who Should Be Champions In WWE & More

    3

Here are some highlights from Jim Ross’ latest Q&A from JRsBarBQ.com:

How Important Was Steve Austin’s “Austin 3:16” Speech?:

“If you are still talking about it then it must have been a key moment and I feel that it was.”

Who Was a Bigger Star: Hogan or Austin?

“Hogan had a longer run and I think that Austin drew more money. Another very subjective question. Austin was ‘the man’ when WWE was in a major fight for survival.”

Did He Enjoy Being Drafted To SmackDown?

“It was ok but not something that I wanted to do.”

In A Perfect World, Who Would He Have As Champions In WWE?

“These are so subjective that there really are no right or wrong answers. Just for an opinion today, that could change tomorrow…Daniel Bryan as WWE Champ…AJ as Divas champion..Rhodes Brothers are tag champs…Cesaro as IC Champ…Ambrose as US Champ.”

Will WWE Stop Using Hell In A Cell & Elimination Chamber, Since They Have Been Toned Down In Recent Years?

“Who knows but without the graphic use of blood the structures lose a little mystique even though I don’t condone the use of blood in today’s marketplace.”

Would WWE Ever Sponsor A College Football Bowl Game?

“Interesting but I don’t see it. WWE decision makers not the biggest main stream sports fans out there. They are immersed in their own genre and specifically their own brand.”

  • Update On The Undertaker’s WrestleMania Opponent, Warrior Negotiating With Vince McMahon

    48

    – With WrestleMania XXX just 3 months away, WWE has still not finalized who will be challenging the Undertaker’s streak this year. Brock Lesnar has long been the front runner to face the Dead Man, however, there is one big obstacle that might prevent the match from happening.

Not many people know this, but over the past few years, The Undertaker has rehearsed his WrestleMania matches with his opponents. Shawn Michaels, Triple H and CM Punk have all spend considerable time with the Undertaker planning out their matches in the weeks leading up to their matches at WrestleMania. Due to the nature of Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract, he is only required to travel a certain number of times per year for WWE. Training with The Undertaker to prepare for a WrestleMania match would exceed the terms of his agreement with WWE.

It’s possible WWE could negotiate with Lesnar and convince him to do what’s necessary to make The Undertaker comfortable with a match – but this is the reason John Cena and Daniel Bryan are still being considered as his possible opponents this year.

    – WWE legend the Ultimate Warrior in currently talks with Vince McMahon about a WWE Hall of Fame induction and an appearance at WrestleMania XXX. Warrior is speaking strictly with Vince, having no contact with Triple H or anybody else in the company.

As previously reported, WWE will be releasing a new Ultimate Warrior DVD the week of WrestleMania, so a few TV appearances in April would help with the promotion of that project.

    – Natalya & Emma def. AJ Lee & Tamina Snuka in Divas tag-team action. This was the Fan’s Choice match. The straight tag-match option actually won the voting.

    – Bray Wyatt def. Daniel Bryan in a Steel Cage match. This was said to be an actual competitive match, and not a one-sided beatdown by Wyatt as mentioned in previous weekend house shows. The finish came when Bryan, who had the match won, got the cage door slammed on his head by Erick Rowan. After the match, Bryan teased that he wasn’t going to shake Wyatt’s hand, but ultimately did.

    – Bad News Barrett def. Justin Gabriel in a singles match. Barrett cut a promo prior to the match.

    – Big E. Langston def. Damien Sandow in singles action to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Langston picked up the win via his Big Ending.

    – CM Punk def. The Shield in a three-on-one handicap match. This was pretty much what you would expect, with Punk getting the win in the end via his GTS on Ambrose.

Konnan Says Jeff Jarrett Will Be Launching A New Promotion With Toby Keith

    20

Konnan said on the latest MLW podcast that he spoke to Jeff Jarrett over the weekend and Jarrett told him he’s planning to make a big announcement this week (Monday or Tuesday) about the formation of a new wrestling promotion. Granted, it’s coming from Konnan, but it’s something to look out for.

Konnan said Jarrett hinted that country music star Toby Keith would be the majority investor in the project, but stopped short of naming Keith directly. He also said Jarrett told him that TNA is in bad shape, which is not surprising, considering TNA’s recent issues and Jarrett’s abrupt departure from the company he founded over a decade ago.

With Jim Ross’ being a free agent and tweeting that he recently met with Toby Keith, it should be interesting to see what comes of this.

Again, we’re working with a lot of speculation here, so take this one as a rumor.
