Santino Marella’s Cobra Featured On “30 Second Fury”, WWE Star Tweaks His Look, Tiger Ali Singh

3

– One of the most feared moves in WWE is highlighted in this week’s edition of 30 Second Fury: Santino Marella’s Cobra.

– Alex Riley, who now appears a color commentator on WWE Superstars alongside Tom Phillips, recently tweaked his look for the show. The 32-year-old is sporting thick-rimmed glasses while calling the matches.

– Former WWE wrestler Tiger Ali Singh appeared as a guest speaker on Friday in Burlington, Ontario on behalf of the Halton Regional Police Services for their ‘Toys for Tots’ campaign launch. According to SLAM! Wrestling, Singh stated at the event, “There were lots of children in attendance and my message to them was a simple one… no matter what religion, colour or race you are, “sickness and poverty do not discriminate and neither should the spirit of giving.”

Hulk Hogan Says He’s Not Coming Back To TNA, Familiar Faces Returning Soon, Hernandez

21

– Hulk Hogan currently has no plans to return to TNA Wrestling following the expiration of his contract last month.

Saturday night on Twitter, the WWE Hall of Famer responded to a fan question asking whether he will be returning to the company with the following: “yo Peri,I’m sorry I won’t be coming back. HH.”

– TNA Wrestling has announced that they will be publishing a “News & Notes” column on ImpactWrestling.com, which may run every Saturday. In one interesting tidbit, the column states that some familiar faces are expected to return to the promotion soon.

The column also notes that more matches will be announced in the coming days for One Night Only: Hardcore Justice (Dec. 29 in Lowell, Massachusetts at Lowell Memorial Auditorium) and One Night Only: #OldSchool (Dec. 30 in Poughkeepsie, New York at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center), and that an “Ask The Professor” feature hosted by Mike Tenay will be launched in the future. Former WWE Star On TNA Sale, WCW Reunion Show, Goldust’s Return, Ryback

19

The following are highlights from a recent WZRtv interview with former WWE Superstar Big Vito:

On the sale of TNA: “There is so much financial debt that I think they’re so consumed with that. They tried every different angle to change things. They haven’t had any success. When you change heads of the departments, you change the people who run it. It’s the same thing that happened with WCW and it’s the same thing happening all over. You change, change, change, change.”

On Dixie Carter: “From what I understand, [Hulk] Hogan and [Eric] Bischoff are out now [and] it’s Dixie Carter running it. Dixie Carter, she might be a nice lady [but] she’s not groomed in the wrestling business. She’s been talked to and talked around, ya know, manipulated in the wrestling business, but she doesn’t know the wrestling business. She’s not the Jarrett’s. She’s not Hulk Hogan. She’s not anyone who’s had that kind of pedigree. This has nothing to do with being a man or a woman. When you’re not brought up in the wrestling business from the bottom up and you don’t know, you’re going to spend a lot of money and do a lot of stupid things. I’m not saying she’s a stupid lady. I’m not saying she’s dumb. She’s probably very smart in other areas, but this is the wrestling business. If you’re not groomed in it from the bottom up and polished, how do you not know what kind of product to put out? Another knock against TNA is they’ve had the same talent for 10 and 12 years. There’s only a handful of guys that’s been with the WWE for 10 or 12 years.”

On Vince Russo: “Well from what I know, Vince Russo, me and him back in the day, I helped him start out in the wrestling business and he helped me get into WCW. When he was in TNA, I was there when he was there. When he left, you know, I left. And then really just a couple of phone calls here and there, but ya know, nothing of nothing. I mean, he mentioned me in his books, he mentioned me in a nice way. I appreciate it, but as far as friendship and all that other stuff, ya know, he’s his own man. He does things his own way. He never returns a phone call, just like a lot of guys, but you know that’s Vinnie Russo and I can’t say nothing bad about him. He gave me my chance in WCW, and people remember [this] — giving somebody a chance doesn’t mean they gave you a spot. When you get a spot you have to earn it and I carried the ball and I ran with it, just like I did in every organization. I never was on the bottom, I always rose to the occasion and came to the top. So anybody who thinks that somebody gives you something — they can put you in any spot in the business, but if you don’t carry the ball, then you ain’t doing nothing. I carried the ball in all my positions, in all my companies and I’m very happy and very proud of my time. Whether it was in ECW with Da Baldies as Vito Skull LaGrosso, or Big Vito in WCW, Big Vito in TNA or Vito “The Toughest Man To Wear A Dress” in WWE.”

On Johnny Stamboli and a WCW reunion show: “Johnny Stamboli is still wrestling. He’s doing his own thing and he’s got his private life. He’s doing very well. You know everybody still asks when are The Mamalukes coming back and you know that would probably be one of the best things to happen if they ever had a WCW reunion show.”

On the current WWE product: “I think that the gimmicks they’re putting on are interesting. The guys are doing a good job down in NXT developing these guys. They have a lot of new faces [and] they’re trying to make new stars, but at the end of the day they’re still going with the name guys. You have the big names and they’re making the angles around them and you can’t change that. People wanna see them.”

On the WWE return of Goldust: “They brought back Goldust for a reason, ya know? Not because he was Dusty Rhodes’ son, ya know, Cody Rhodes or whatever. That’s Goldust. He’s the best gimmick in all of wrestling. That’s one of my favorite gimmicks. He is a gimmick and that’s something you wanna watch.”

On John Cena: “You know everybody can say what they want about [John] Cena, but that guy is still drawing money. Whether you love him or hate him, he gets a reaction.”

On Ryback: “They brought Ryback in, you know? Ryback was up and then he was down. If I could work a program with him, you’d never hear Big Vito complain about how he ever got [hit] too hard. I would love to work with that guy because it’d be a hart-hitting thing.”

On the way wrestlers come up in WWE these days: “A lot of guys who they’re bringing up today, like the problem they had in the past, they don’t have that experience and they’re not polished. They’re pushing guys up and you can’t learn everything from wrestling school. You gotta go out there and earn it and do it and when they try to polish you up and put you out there before you’re ready, sometimes it doesn’t come off as good as it can be.”

  • Daniel Bryan Says He Couldn’t Tell The Bella Twins Apart At First, Did AJ Lee Wrestle On Saturday?

    53

    – Speaking to Larry Nickel of CBS Sports 920 in St. Louis, Missouri, former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan admits that when he first joined WWE, he could not tell Brie Bella, who he’s now engaged to be married to, from her sister Nikki.

“Now, they are so different to me, I don’t even see how people think that they look alike. It’s crazy. They definitely look like sisters, but they’re no longer twins to me,” said Bryan.

Nickel tells Bryan that he can tell them apart for “different reasons,” leading the WWE Superstar to ask him to name them.

“Nikki had the…uh…yeah,” Nickel remarked, alluding to her sizable breast augmentation last year.

    – WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee didn’t miss a beat after fainting during her match on Friday in London, England as she competed at tonight’s show in Minehead. Partnering with Tamina, the duo again lost to The Bella Twins.

Today’s show in Minehead marks as the eleventh day of WWE’s grueling tour across Europe, which has been described as exhausting by some wrestlers.

John Cena Says London Should Host WrestleMania In 2015, Mentions “Heel” During Promo (Video)

    63

After successfully defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio at Friday’s WWE live event in London, England, John Cena spoke on the microphone and remarked that the city deserves to host WrestleMania 31. He then suggested that it take place at a nearby “big ass” stadium—implying Wembley Stadium. The 14-time world champion also addressed his critics, which led him to utter the term “heel.”

“Sounds like there’s a lot experienced members of the WWE Universe in the crowd tonight. Sounds by the tone, there’s a lot of grown men in the crowd here in London tonight. I gotta feeling these are the same grown men that bring their girlfriends, their wives and their families all the way across the pond and make just a loud noise at our WrestleMania events,” Cena says in response to the audience members who booed him.

While surveying the crowd for frequent WWE event-goers—who generally boo Cena—he states, “WrestleMania veterans…you are grossly outnumbered. I bet you guys came to this building tonight thinking, “This is the night that John Cena is gonna turn heel.” Ah-ah, no way. Not gonna happen.”

Moments later, he continues, “This is the night that John Cena is going to come back to London, see a bunch of super-excited fans, all the way up to the sky! And tell them that they were so loud tonight I could’ve sworn on my heart that every single one of you had been to WrestleMania because this is the noise I hear in that building and for that I thank you.”

The Honky Tonk Man Recalls 1997 Backstage Fight Between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels

    6

The storied rivalry between WWE Hall of Famers Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels reached its first tipping point on May 19, 1997 during an episode of Raw when Michaels made inferences to an affair between the married Canadian grappler and Sunny in a cryptic promo. The on-air remarked infuriated Hart, who got physical with Shawn Michaels three weeks later at a Raw taping in Hartford, Connecticut.

The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all-time, The Honky Tonk Man, who was working with WWE at the time as a non-wrestling personality, recalled the backstage altercation during an interview with Great North Wrestling.

“I saw Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels down on the floor in Hartford, Connecticut, they cannot deny it happened because it did happen. They were in the locker room down on the floor, pulling at each other’s hair. They had to be separated, and it had nothing to do with professional wrestling. It had to do with a personal vendetta that they had against each other. These were just two guys who could not co-exist anymore in the same locker room. It did finally culminate to the Montreal Screwjob,” said The Honky Tonk Man.

WWE House Show Results (11/15): London, England — AJ Lee Feints During Match

    2

The following are results from the WWE live event in London, England. The event was held on Friday, November 15, 2013.

    – The Prime Time Players def. Hunico & Camacho in a comedy tag-team match to kick off the show.

    – Ryback def. Justin Gabriel. As soon as the bell rang, the fans began chanting “Goldberg” at Ryback. This was a back-and-forth match which Ryback ended up winning via his Shellshock.

    – The Bella Twins def. AJ Lee & Tamina Snuka. The fans picked this match via a vote. At one point, AJ took a bump onto the floor out of nowhere. She ended up getting medical assistance after personnel at ringside signaled to the back for help. The crew helped AJ outside the ring for about five minutes before helping her to the back. In the ring, as all of this was happening, one of the Bella’s rolled up Tamina for the pin.

    – The Great Khali def. Jinder Mahal. This was said to be about as awful as you would expect. Khali got the win with his chop.

    – They did the same in-ring segment as the night before in Leeds, with CM Punk, Ryback, Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman. Axel and Ryback bailed on Heyman, leaving him alone to receive a beatdown from Punk until the lights went out and The Wyatt Family came to the ring.

    – CM Punk & Daniel Bryan def. Erick Rowan & Luke Harper in a tag-team match. This was one of the highlights of the evening for the fans in London, who were way into this one. Bray Wyatt interfered a lot during the match. Punk ended up picking up the pinfall after hitting a GTS.

    – The Usos def. 3MB. Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre represented 3MB in this tag-team affair. The finish came when one of the Uso’s hit a top-rope splash for the 1-2-3.

    – Curtis Axel def. R-Truth to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship in one of few title matches on the show. The finish came when Truth was arguing with the referee and Axel rolled him up from behind.

    – John Cena def. Alberto Del Rio to retain the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of the evening. This was said to be actually a pretty good match, with Cena picking up the win via pinfall after hitting Del Rio with his Attitude Adjustment finishing move.

  • Update On Hulk Hogan/WWE Negotiations, WWE Stars Banged Up, Ohno Update

    13

    – There are several WWE Superstars who are currently banged up due to the ongoing WWE European tour. The feeling among most of the performers in the company is to the point where they just want to finish up and head back home.

    – Apparently negotiations between Hulk Hogan and WWE for the Hall Of Famer to appear at WrestleMania XXX are “looking good,” although as is the case with any negotiation, it’s never a done deal until everything is signed and official.

    – According to one source, Kassius Ohno’s release from WWE was not a sudden decision on the part of the company, as it had actually been planned for a while. Ohno still has a few matches with the company that will air on television for NXT. Ohno will appear in matches on November 20th against Tyler Breeze, a November 27th rematch against Breeze and a December 11th match with Alexander Rusev.

  • DiBiase Speaks On His Son Leaving WWE, Today’s Million Dollar Champion, WMXXX

    3

The following are highlights from a recent Miami Herald interview with WWE Hall Of Famer “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase:

On WrestleMania XXX: “It’s very special. It really dates me a bit when I think, ‘This is WrestleMania 30, and my first WrestleMania was 4.’ It’s almost like, ‘Am I really that old?’ It’s a milestone year. What’s amazing is WrestleMania I, 10 and 20 were all in Madison Square Garden. WrestleMania 30, instead of being in New York, is going to be at the [Superdome] in New Orleans. That’s very special to me because I actually started my wrestling career in this area. Not the entire time, but the better part of the first 12 years of my wrestling career was spent in what was called Mid-South Wrestling. New Orleans was a very big part of that.”

On his sons being in the pro wrestling business: “Just as a father I really didn’t want my boys to follow me into wrestling. It’s not because of the wrestling itself, but because it’s a hard life. It’s really demanding, especially on family time. There are so many things out there. To the WWE’s credit, the atmosphere is much better and the accountability that they’ve built into it with their drug testing policy makes it a lot better. It is better, but it’s a hard thing on family. I was excited for my son. I never thought I was going to walk into a Toys “R” Us, and there is a twin pack of the ‘Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase Sr. and Ted DiBiase Jr. I never thought I would see that. It was pretty wild. I was proud of him.”

On his son Ted DiBiase Jr. leaving WWE: “He did a tremendous job while he was there. He stared in a movie [The Marine 2], and I’m proud how he left there. There are a lot of guys who leave with a chip on their shoulder or feel they weren’t treated right or this or that. Basically what my son did was said, ‘Thank you very much. I appreciate the opportunity.’ He did it in a very professional way. I told him, ‘Don’t ever burn a bridge because you never know when you may cross it again.’ I was very proud of him on all levels. I think he is happy now. He has become quite the entrepreneur. He has a lot of things going. Before he went into wrestling, he got a college degree in business administration. He has a lot of things going for him. He loves being home with his family, but again, never say never. If the bug hits him again, then maybe he [would return]. For now he is quite happy where he’s at.”

On who he would pick as today’s “Million Dollar Champion”: “Alberto Del Rio is doing a pretty good job. His character is in line with that character. He is the rich guy flaunting his wealth. JBL [John Bradshaw Layfield], in my opinion, was the cowboy version of my character. I think he did it extremely well. You are this extremely wealthy guy, and by virtue of your wealth, you are looking down your nose at everybody. Much like a bully, when you’re confronted, you start backing off. Everybody hates guys like that. No matter how many times you get beat, you don’t mind seeing them get beat again. That’s what a good heel is in our business. I think JBL did it just as good as anybody.”

  • Jesse Ventura Doesn’t Care For Eric Bischoff, Talks McMahon/Hogan, WWE & More

    5

The following are highlights from a recent VOC Nation interview with former WWE Superstar and Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura:

On what it would take for him to run for President of the United States: “Two things would need to be met; I don’t run to lose, I run to win. I would have to have ballot access in all 50 states, and I would need a guarantee that I would be allowed in the debates. If you’re not allowed in the debates you have no chance of winning. You wrestling people could do that for me; just go out and get Jesse Ventura ballot access in all 50 states. All it takes is leg work to sign petitions. Every state is different; you’re going for a Federal office – shouldn’t it be the same in every state? That’s so Independent’s like me have trouble getting on the ballot. (Right now the chances of a Presidential run) are 50/50.”

On Barack Obama: “Barack Obama does not bring any change. People don’t understand that change isn’t going to happen by switching from Republican to Democrat. The only time you will really get change is to stay away from Democrats or Republican.”

On whether or not pro wrestling hurts his credibility: “If we truly want to go back far enough, Abe Lincoln was a wrestler. I don’t see where I’ve broken any new ground. Wrestling is a business; I was pretty good at it and I made a great living at it. Where did it ever say that you need to go to law school to serve? When I wrestled, I paid a lot of taxes.”

On critics of his WWE appearances while serving as Minnesota Governor: “I gave all of the money that I made to a scholarship fund. (the media) knew it. I used the money to create the Roosevelt High School Scholarship fund, and I’m proud of that.”

On his exit from WWE in 1990: “It was over a video game. Vince signed a contract with (Nintendo) and told me that I couldn’t sign an endorsement deal with another company (Sega). I told Vince that he didn’t own me; I wasn’t working under a contract at that time.”

On his relationship with Vince McMahon: “It was good until Linda McMahon ran for office. I said in the media that I wouldn’t endorse her because she ran on the Republican ticket, and I heard that Vince got mad at me because I said that publicly. I don’t endorse any Republican or any Democrat. If I he gave me as much money as he gave her to run for her elections, I would be the President. Why would you spend your own money to get a job in public service?”

On his relationship with Hulk Hogan: “I haven’t spoke to him or seen him at all since I left the WWE in 1990.”

On his relationship with Eric Bischoff: “Last time I saw him was when I was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004 and I don’t care for him.”

On wrestling vs. commentary: “Commentating hurt a lot less, and by the time I started to commentate, I was making as much more more than I made wrestling. The business had switched to (being based around) television. Why would I go in there and beat myself up when I can make just as much money commentating? People can say what they want about pro wrestling, but at one point in my career I actually wrestled 63 days in a row. It hurts. Wrestling is ballet with violence. Nobody looks at a great Russian ballet dancer and questions their athleticism do they?”
