Eve Torres Talks About Life After WWE, If She’ll Ever Return & More

8

WWE.com recently caught up with former WWE Diva Eve Torres. Here are some highlights of what she said about:

Life After WWE: “Well, aside from building a house and planning a wedding and all of that real-life stuff that I’ve finally gotten around to, I’ve been teaching a lot of women’s self-defense classes at the Gracie Academy. Since January, I’ve pretty much been teaching Gracie Women Empowered self-defense full-time, working with women from all walks of life. We’ve got grandmas in there, we’ve got mothers with their daughters, and we’ve had several contracts with the U.S. Air Force.”

“Also, this summer I actually filmed my first movie. I did a really fun fight scene in [“Scorpion King: The Lost Throne”], which will be coming out next year. I was so excited to be a part of it. Ellen Hollman is the actress I worked with, and she is just incredible. We got to incorporate some wrestling stuff, too. I pulled out some of my old tricks in there. It was a lot of fun to shoot.”

Teaching Self Defense To The Total Divas Cast: “WWE actually reached out to me. I went to the WWE Performance Center [in Orlando] and worked with the NXT Divas down there. That’s how it started. WWE wanted me to work with the NXT Divas, talk to them about my experiences in WWE and also teach them a seminar. Then they said, while I’m there, because Raw and SmackDown were so close, that I could teach the girls on the main roster as well.”

“This is something I had always wanted to do even when I was with WWE, but we’re all so busy and schedules are so crazy that I’m glad I finally had an opportunity to do it. I know all of those girls have been in situations similar to what happened to me because it happens so often. They’re traveling a lot, they’re all beautiful women and they have to face so many situations that the average man doesn’t really even have to think about. So it’s not only about educating them about how to be aware and present themselves, and how to not be a target in the first place; it’s also about instilling them with confidence based in these techniques, so they really feel like they can address the situation if they have to. And they have a plan to fall back on if they really have to.”

Her Current Relationship With WWE: “When I left WWE, it was, of course, one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But I really feel like WWE is a part of me. I do want to be involved whenever I can. Of course I can’t go back on the road, I’m not going to be having matches or anything like that, but any way I can represent WWE, any capacity in which I can contribute and still live the life I have chosen now, I’m excited to do that.”

If She’ll Ever Return To WWE: “I knew that question was coming [laughs]. The truth is, I get asked that question all the time, and I really can say that, right now, I don’t see it happening. But I know myself enough to know that I’m not going to sit here and say that it’s never going to happen. I just don’t know what the next few years will bring. Like I said, if things go as planned in my life, and I start a family or anything like that, then probably not. But who knows? There are people who have families and still come back. Right now I don’t see it coming, but I still have dreams about matches, I will tell you that.”

John Cena Talks WrestleMania XXX, Returning From Injury So Soon

18

WWE Champion John Cena was recently interviewed by Marvel.comHere are some highlights of what Cena said about:

What Motivated Him To Return From Injury So Soon:

“I just don’t like [being out]. I really like the job and it comes with ups and downs and I know not necessarily everyone at my job loves me but that shouldn’t sour me from my place of employment. I’ve truly found a home in the WWE and when I’m not there all I want to do is be there. I think that helped me get back really soon because everything I did was focused on getting back sooner and sooner.”

Photos of John Cena’s Ridiculous Halloween Costume

What He’ll Be Doing at WrestleMania XXX:

“Honestly, I like seeing how WrestleMania unfolds. I’ve had different matches over the years. I’ve been scattered throughout the menu. But looking back at all my WrestleMania performances, the fact is that I was there and I really enjoy seeing what’s going to happen. I was a part of WrestleMania XX and if you look at the timeline from XX until now, XX pretty much laid the foundation of the people who are truly the driving force of the company right now. So who’s to say what’s going to happen at [WrestleMania] XXX? I really just want to be able to find out. First of all, I’m glad that tickets are going on sale on the 16th because that makes the event very [real]. And then I just want to be able to see where I can be, what I can do, and how this whole thing is going to shake up.”

Talk of a Potential Champion vs. Champion Match at WrestleMania XXX

If He Could Have One Super Power, What Would It Be?

“Man, honestly I hope for the power of invisibility. I say, “You can’t see me” all the time so I kind of half-ass answered that. Maybe cloning? That way I can get myself to more places at once. I truly like being able to be in the ring and I know WWE tours with two brands and now that I’m back I’m trying to make every brand, every show. So if there was just one more of me, I’d be able to make it everywhere at once.”

Jim Ross Q&A: Punk vs. Austin, Bullying In WWE, John Cena Controversial?

10

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated the Q&A section of JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Who He’d Cheer for if CM Punk wrestled Steve Austin: “Because it would likely be Steve’s last one I’d be an Austin lean. Not likely to ever happen.”

CM Punk Talks About The Possibility of Wrestling Steve Austin

How WWE Handles Bullying In The Locker Room “It isn’t condoned by the talent or management. There’s no place for it.”

If John Cena Is As Controversial as DX or Steve Austin: “I don’t think Cena is controversial. I think he is polarizing. Good man. Hard worker. I’m proud to have signed him.”

Kane’s New Corporate Persona: “Willing to allow it to play out and to see how it works for him. It’s got to grow on me and perhaps it will.”

WWE Feels They Have “Decent Chance” Of Signing Sting

112

As noted previously, Hulk Hogan is reportedly leaning towards re-signing with TNA Impact Wrestling over WWE, due to what was described by one source as a “low-ball” offer from WWE. However, the same source is now reporting WWE may still sign one of the top stars in TNA today.

Lex Luger Comments On The Possibility of Sting In WWE

According to a new report, sources within WWE feel that their chances are “decent” at signing “The Icon” Sting (Steve Borden) to a deal with the company. Sting is perhaps the single biggest name in pro wrestling history, certainly in the United States, to have never worked for WWE. WWE has made overtures in the past to get Sting to make the move to WWE, but never got the deal done.

Raw Viewership Plunges During The Final Hour, AJ Lee Loves Her Divas Championship, WWE en Espanol

55

– Triple H and Stephanie McMahon’s confrontation with Big Show failed to entice a good number of fans as viewership continuously dropped during the show.

Monday’s episode drew 3.887 million viewers, according to Zap2it.com. This is down from 4.152 million the week before.

Raw viewership peaked during the first hour, drawing 4.069 million viewers. The second hour drew 3.951 million viewers, before plunging to 3.643 million in the third and final hour featuring a confrontation between the power couple and “The World’s Largest Athlete.”

The final rating is expected to be released later today.

– The latest edition of WWE en Espanol is now online, with Marcelo Rodríguez and Carlos Cabrera reviewing last week’s WWE events in Spanish.

Jim Ross Blog: Monday’s RAW, Cody Rhodes & Goldust, WWE Survivor Series

5

The following are highlights from the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On Monday’s WWE RAW: “Perplexing and unique night in many ways for Monday Night’s edition of Raw. The final two segments of the show had me scratching my head especially that surprising, last commercial break. The obvious, over riding theme of the broadcast was the issue between the South Carolina native Big Show and WWE COO HHH. That’s the match that fans seemingly want to see based on the feedback that I have received and my own take as a fan. I’m curious to see what more will be done to ignite the WWE Title bout at Survivor Series between the ‘Biggest Gamecock of them All’ and Randy Orton considering that HHH has more antagonist momentum than does RKO or so it seems.”

On Cody Rhodes & Goldust: “The reunion of the Rhodes Brothers has been a breath of fresh air within WWE over the past several weeks. Really enjoyable to see their storyline evolve. The grandsons of a plumber have been involved some the best matches on any WWE TV show the past several weeks. That’s not a coincidence. Dustin Runnels aka Goldust rebirth, not only as a performer but as a man, has been nothing short of miraculous.”

On WWE Survivor Series: “I’d love to see some classic, Survivor Series moments featured on Raw and Smackdown to remind fans what the PPV used to represent in WWE. The event has a history and that history should be marketed including having at least one traditional, elimination tag team match.”

Former WWE Writer Talks About Working With Vince, Orton’s Promos, Cena-Umaga

9

Former WWE Creative Writer Andrew Goldstein recently recently spoke with John Carrigan of The Temple News about his experience with the company. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Scripting the John Cena – Umaga feud: “I basically ripped off Rocky IV. Umaga destroys Ric Flair. Next week Flair comes out, but not yelling and screaming. He says, ‘I’ve had X amount of matches in my life, but I never felt in my career I couldn’t defend myself like I did last week. It’s time to ground the Learjet, park the limousine and walk away.’ Next week Umaga destroys Arn Anderson. The fact that Arn took this beating drew Flair back to honor his friend. Finally, John Cena defends Flair against the monster.”

Stephanie stepping in before Vince yelled at him: “I wrote and produced the entire Mike Knox and Kelly Kelly storyline. Kelly told him she never loved him and then slapped him in the face with a bouquet. In rehearsal, Stephanie McMahon told him to be somber and put his head down. But Vince is all about facial expressions so he flipped out and said ‘Who told Knox that?’ while looking at me. Steph actually stood up and took the blame. It was the only time Vince was about to yell at me and Steph stepped in.”

The problem with Randy Orton’s promos: “I hate Randy Orton’s ‘better than you’ promo because it’s a crutch. WWE does it all the time and it comes from Vince saying the easiest way to get a message across is with a straight line. I get that, but it’s such an uncreative way to do it. Look at early Ric Flair promos, which I do often. Even before all the Nature Boy stuff, he would say something like, ‘If you can beat me, I’ll kiss your boots.’ He still means that’s he better than you, but he draws me in with specifics.”

Janice Carter’s Memo Denying TNA Being For Sale Leaks Online

12

As reported last week, Panda Energy’s Chairman of the Board, Janice Carter (mother of TNA President Dixie Carter) issued a memo to TNA staff refuting reports that TNA is for sale. The memo has leaked online and can be viewed here:

October 31, 2013

Dear Staff,

As we embark on our “Where Action Never Ends” 365 initiative, I wanted to take this time to thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm to your company’s renewed creative direction. I feel confident that, together, we are marching towards something great – a revolutionary way to experience professional wrestling.

With this said, I am aware of the false rumors currently circulating that The Carter Family and Panda Energy is attempting to sell their ownership stakes in TNA Wrestling. An unfortunate aspect of this business is that there are wrestling “reporters” who consistently post “news stories” without proper facts. I want to assure you that these are just rumors and I am committed to TNA and its future.

While I typically find that responding to such rumors is a waste of time, I wanted to use this as a moment to express my support and delight for the creative direction we are moving in. Our work has just begun and I look forward to a long and rewarding future with you and TNA.

Warm Regards,

Janice Carter
Chairman of the Board
