VIDEO: RVD Says He Has No WWE Contract, Speaks On When He Will Return

16

The following are highlights of a recent Sam Roberts interview with WWE Superstar Rob Van Dam:

On factors that may extend his time away from WWE: “A lot of factors. A lot of it has to do with what else is going on. There are a few projects that might possibly come to pass within this timeframe. The action movie that I’m not trying to talk about so much in case it doesn’t happen… I had one starring role in this movie “The Wrong Side of Town.” The same production crew has been trying to pick up the pieces since then because producers were fighting on the set and nobody wanted to work together.”

On his deal being done with WWE: “It may possibly be that if that happens, it could prolong a return. Just based on wrestling, what’s the right amount of time to take off, it’s a mutual decision. My deal is done. I still consider myself in the WWE family, but technically on paper I am now without contract.”

Rey Mysterio Talks About 2014 Being His Comeback Year

21

During a recent interview with the Miami Herald, WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio spoke about his plans for an upcoming return to the ring.

Mysterio actually wrestled last month during WWE’s live events tour of Mexico, but says he only got back in the ring to see how his knee felt:

“It was more of a let’s see how my body reacts and my knee reacts to being back in the ring,” Mysterio said. “Overall I felt good but still feel I need a bit more therapy, just from the damage I’ve done through the years to my knee. We are back to therapy and strengthening up that quad and hamstring, just making sure there are no mistakes this next time.”

Mysterio originally planned to be back in action this summer, but then delayed his plans for a full time return to “around Thanksgiving, maybe Christmas.” Now, it’s sounding like he won’t be back in action until 2014.

“I think if I don’t do it by the end of the year, then next year,” Mysterio said. “I would hate to push myself instead of taking my time. I want to make a good return, and not being absent shortly after my return. It’s something I’m still debating. I’m going to listen to my body.”

Despite the countless injuries he’s dealt with, Mysterio still feels the passion to compete in WWE.

“I’m definitely still motivated and feel the urge to be in the ring,” Mysterio said. “I’ve always told myself the day I don’t feel that anymore is the day I need to say, ‘That’s it.’ I still have some years inside me that I want to push forward, I want to go out and entertain. I miss it. I really do. I miss being out there and the interaction with the fans. I miss the applause and the 619 chants. I’m hoping that God still gives me a couple of more years for me to perform.”

Olympic Wrestler Chas Betts Announces He’s Signed With WWE

18

As reported earlier today, Olympic wrestler Chas Betts has signed with WWE. Betts, who competed on the 2012 United States Olympic team (Greco-Roman wrestling), posted the following message on his Facebook page announcing that today is his first day at the WWE Performance center in Orlando, Florida:

“On Oct. 19th of last year, I asked Kristi to give me one year to attack and pursue a new dream after I retired from Greco-Roman Wrestling…

It ended up taking two weeks longer than I asked for, but I think she’ll forgive that — considering we’ve moved to sunny Orlando, FL just as the Minnesota winter was about to kick in.

I am proud to announce I have signed a contract with WWE and begin training [Monday] at the WWE Performance Center here in Florida. For those that have known me a long time, you know being a pro-wrestler has been a dream of mine since I was 11 or 12 years old. I’m honored and humbled by the opportunity. I am extremely lucky to have a wife and family that has supported me in every dream I’ve chosen to chase, however unlikely it may be. Never underestimate the power of a good support system, people!

For those interested in following the journey, feel free to follow me @chasbetts on Twitter. See ya down the road, friends!”

WWE & “The Simpsons” Animators Developing “Camp WWE” Web Series

11

Variety.com reports that WWE Studios and “The Simpsons” animators Film Roman are working together to co-finance and co-produce a new WWE-themed web series titled “Camp WWE.”

The adult comedy “will revolve around what WWE’s wrestlers were like as kids.”

“In the show, parents of the WWE stars pack up their kids, their masks, chains and kneepads and send them off to Camp WWE to be transformed into model citizens by the most terrifying counselor who ever lived, Mr. McMahon, after they prove to be a nightmare for teachers and other kids.”

The companies will produce up to 13 three-minute installments of the online show. “Entourage” writer Mike Benson will write the series.

“With a combination of their unique personalities, distinctive characteristics and huge built-in loyal fan base, WWE Superstars make for ideal animation subjects in ‘Camp WWE,’” said Dana Booton, general manager for Film Roman.

WWE Studios president Michael Luisi said, “Film Roman has been involved with some of the most well-known and humorous animated series. They are the perfect partners for WWE Studios to capture our Superstars in a truly unique and fun way.”

Talk Of A Potential Champion vs. Champion Match At WrestleMania XXX

78

With planning underway for the WrestleMania XXX card, one match that’s been talked about in recent weeks is a WWE Champion vs. World Heavyweight champion match. Whether or not this would be a unification match or simply a special attraction, it’s being discussed.

Since John Cena returned at Hell in a Cell, there has been a strong push to bring prestige back to the World Heavyweight championship. While John Cena and Randy Orton had a never-ending feud several years ago, the two have never squared off at WrestleMania in a singles match (they wrestled Triple H in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 24). With Randy Orton being billed as the new “Face of WWE” by Triple H and the Authority, a match against John Cena would have a built-in storyline.

Aside from John Cena, CM Punk is another top baby face that is being considered for a shot at the WWE Championship next April.

COMMENT BELOW and tell us if you want to see a Champion vs. Champion match at WrestleMania XXX – and if WWE should unify the titles & crown an Undisputed champion.

Update On Billy Corgan’s Interest In TNA & Other Possible Buyers

12

As previously reported, Smashing Pumpkins star and Resistance Pro Wrestling promoter Billy Corgan is one of the top names interested in purchasing TNA Impact Wrestling.

Corgan, a longtime wrestling fan who was once in the running to buy the original ECW, might not have the financial means to purchase the company, let alone carry it longterm. According to f4wonline.com, Corgan is in talks with a “wealthy friend” who could invest in partial ownership.

Even with Corgan being interested, there are said to be other groups showing interest with better financial backing.

TNA and Panda Energy are insisting that the company is not for sale, but there definitely have been serious conversations with multiple parties.

Goldust Talks About Being In The Best Shape Of His Career & Working With Cody

14

WWE tag team champion Dustin “Goldust” Runnels recently spoke with Mike Mooneyham of the Charleston Post and Courier about his triumphant return to the company and winning tag team gold with his brother, Cody Rhodes.  Regarding their title win over The Shield, he said, “It was one of those matches that was built the right way from the ground up. It started out very slowly, old-school style, and ended with some boom, boom, boom. It was hot. It was very, very exciting.”

Goldust says he’s in the best shape of his career and takes a lot of pride in his work.

“It was cool the way things worked out,” reflects Runnels. “I never could have imagined or dreamed where my career would be taking me the way it has with the Goldust character. It’s awesome.

“I think I’ve stumbled upon the fountain of youth or something. I’m 44 years old and I’m down to high school weight (225). But I’ve worked hard for it the past few years. Plus being with Cody gives me more motivation. I’ve really enjoyed this storyline we’ve been doing.”

“Now I realize that I can get out there and be clear when I’m working and really give a (darn) and get through a match without taking all that (stuff). That’s really what it’s about. And I’m enjoying it. I know what’s going on now. It’s cool.”

Mickie James On Possibility Of Returning To TNA Now That They’re Back In Orlando

6

The following are highlights from a recent Diva-Dirt interview with former TNA Knockout Mickie James:

On the possibility that she’ll return to TNA now that they’re moving back to Orlando: “You know, you never know. Honestly you never know in this business, doors are always left open. I have nothing but respect for Dixie Carter and I feel its sad I didn’t get the chance to finish the storyline and the development of the character because I had a decision of where it would go prior to my departure, but a step away from it was a blessing in disguise and I have been able to see the big picture of things. I don’t know what will happen next, where I’m gonna end up, for all I know that could’ve been it. Where I end television wrestling. I don’t feel like I’m done, there is so much more I wanna do. Whether it be with TNA, WWE, the indies, or Japan. You never know whats next, I’m just waiting for the next opportunity.”

On the fact that the plan for her to drop the Knockouts Title came at the last minute: “Uh, that was more of a last minute decision, because you know my contract was about to expire. You can’t as a company have the championship on someone who isn’t employed. I understand the decision and respect it. There was no one better I would want to drop the title to. Jess is an amazing friend and I think she is an amazing wrestler and character. I’m glad they are doing something with her. Obviously we had a vision of that going much further then it actually did (BFG), but you know. Business is business.”

Road Warrior Animal Talks Past Issues With Vince McMahon, The L.O.D. “Look”

3

The following are highlights from a recent interview with Road Warrior Animal:

On the origins of the Road Warrior look: “We were sitting there with Bill Watts and Ole Anderson. At the time, Bill Watts had just gave Dewey, the Missing Link the paint. Down there in Louisiana, they said we want you guys to put a couple lines on your face. Then Hawk came up with the brilliant idea, hey, why doesn’t Animal get a Mohawk and I’ll do the reverse Mohawk, so we can look like we can plug our heads into each other. I said, ‘man, are you friggin’ nuts?’ But, we ended up doing it and it worked. Later on, I did the spikes in my garage, next thing you know, we had the spiked shoulder pads.”

On The Road Warriors refusing to drop the Tag-Team Titles to The Fabulous Ones: “You guys know our gimmick, we are street fighters. They wanted to do a finish called the ‘switch-a-roo.’ I kept looking to Paul, we were in the locker room and I said, ‘man, that ain’t right. It just doesn’t feel right.’ They give us the finish in the locker room, we say, ‘ok, we’re gonna do it, we go to the ring.’ First thing Hawk says to Keirn and Lane, he says, ‘We ain’t doin’ the finish. Listen to us and nobody will get hurt.’ We came back to the locker room and Greg Gagne is yelling. Verne come down to the locker room and says, ‘Jeez, nobody has changed a finish on me in 25 years.’ I said, ‘Well Verne, first time for everything, we just did.”

On the team jumping-ship to WWE and his initial dealings with Vince McMahon: “At the time Vince had the Ultimate Warrior. At first he tried to tell us, nobody knows who you are up here. I said, ‘Vince, come on, they know who we are.’ He said, ‘well, I gotta change your name, I can’t call you the Road Warriors, I got the Ultimate Warrior.’ Hawk and I were thinking, ‘that’s kind of dumb that he is acting like this.’ So, we said, ‘how about the Legion of Doom?’ And we used that, at the time, there was no rhyme or reason to anything he did. I was just literal chaos. People that you think should be wrestling each other were not wrestling each other and it was just the opposite, the other way around. I even cornered Vince McMahon one time, I told him I feel like you’re backing us in a corner here and you’re really starting to piss me off.”

Jim Ross Blog: TNA Sale Rumors, Fans Suggesting He Buy The Company

8

The following are highlights from the latest online blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On the possible sale of TNA: “The reported sale of TNA to a seemingly endless list of potential buyers is getting ridiculous. My friend Billy Corgan is ‘allegedly’ one of the latest suitors for the company who’s own backers say isn’t for sale. I have it on very good authority that Billy is not in the mix. Is there even a mix?

TNA could utilize a makeover, for the lack of a better term, and a new approach to their presentation of the product in the opinion of some but that’s not an exclusive, TNA issue and is something that many wrestling fans regularly say about other TV wrestling companies.

“Can’t tell you how many hits I get especially over the past week or so regarding the rumored for sale sign at TNA Wrestling. I have no solid validation that their company is or isn’t for sale and it certainly isn’t any of my business. I am interested only because I have many friends who work there and I wish them all the very best in the future.”

On tweets he receives suggesting he should buy TNA: “The most outlandish Tweets @JRsBBQ that I receive are those suggesting that I actually buy TNA which is laughable for many reasons. That question isn’t remotely in any game plan that I could ever imagine.”

TNA House Show Results (11/2): Mount Pleasant, Michigan

0

The following are results from the TNA Impact Wrestling live event in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The event was held on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

-Magnus def. Dewey Barnes via Submission in the opening match. Magnus cut a heel promo before the match. He picked up the submission victory with the Texas Cloverleaf.

-Abyss def. Kazarian via Pinfall. Kazarian played up being afraid of “The Monster” Abyss early on, but ended up dominating a lot of the offense in the match until Abyss hit him with the Black Hole Slam for the 1-2-3.

-Gail Kim def. ODB to retain the TNA Knockouts Title. Earl Hebner was the “special referee” for the match. Kim tried flirting with him to get special treatment, and ODB tried bribing him with some of whatever was in her flask. In the end, Kim rolled ODB and used the ropes for leverage to get the pinfall victory.

-Chris Sabin def. Manik to retain the TNA X-Division Title. Earl Hebner was the “special referee” for this match as well. That wasn’t the only similarity to the previous title match, as the heel Sabin got the win by holding the ropes in this one.

–Intermission–

-BroMans def. James Storm & Gunner to retain the TNA Tag-Team Titles. For the third straight title match, Earl Hebner was the “special referee.” The finish in this one saw Kazarian interfering, setting up Storm to get hit with the Implant Facebuster by Robbie E. for the pin.

-Austin Aries def. Bobby Roode via Pinfall in the main event. This was said to be by far the best match of the evening. Both guys played to the crowd a lot, so the fans were very hot by the time this one concluded. The finish saw a ton of outside interference leading to Aries hitting Roode with the Brainbuster for the pinfall victory.

Report: Hulk Hogan, WWE Come To “Verbal Agreement” For Hogan’s Return

76

According to a recent report by The Examiner, WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan and WWE have come to a “verbal agreement” that would see Hogan return to the company in 2014.

The following is an excerpt from the article:

“WWE Examiner learned exclusively on Thursday from a trusted WWE source that Hulk Hogan is officially back with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Although Hogan has reportedly refused to sign a typical “legends contract,” there is said to be a verbal agreement in place between Hogan and WWE that will result in Hogan returning to WWE programming possibly early in the new year.

There is even talk of Hogan returning as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble.

“We knew this would happen at some point,” the source tells Examiner. “It’s my understanding that there isn’t a contract in place, but there’s a verbal agreement that will move forward. It’s just a good fit for everybody involved, especially with the milestone WrestleMania 30 coming up. Hogan needed to finish up his stuff with TNA and just come home.”

Check out the complete article online at Examiner.com.

NOTE: It’s worth pointing out that we have been unable to confirm the above report as of right now. We should have an extensive update on this story on Monday morning, so until then, take the above information as strictly rumor.

Chris Jericho Talks About A Royal Rumble Return, HBK Wrestling Again, Big Show

14

The following are highlights of a recent Busted Open Radio interview with former WWE Superstar Chris Jericho:

On a return at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view: “I can post a picture of me and the Pope on Instagram or Twitter and the first three thousand comments will be: ‘When are you coming back to the WWE?’ People are so obsessed with that. My response is that I don’t know. I talked about this the last time I was on the show in New York for Fozzy. I don’t have any plans. Not to say that I won’t but as you can see there are a lot of really cool projects that are going on under the Chris Jericho brand umbrella and I think that just adds to me being an asset to the WWE and spreading my wings as much as I can and gaining the biggest fan base I can. I’m not retired from wrestling, I never said that. The time has to be right and soon eventually it will be right. I came back to the Royal Rumble last year and to come back at the Royal Rumble this year, it would be like: ‘We’ve been there and done that’. I have to see what’s going on and figure out another cool way to make it work when the time is right.”

On the next major star in WWE: “I think anybody can be the face of the company if the fans dictate it. I think sometimes the powers-that-be may have different opinions but the thing about Daniel Bryan is that his rise is very organic. It happened basically in spite of the way he was getting pushed. I think if I had to pin point a moment that it happened, it was during that eighteen second loss at WrestleMania last year where people were legitimately angry that the company could treat him that way and started to really get behind him as a character. I think when everybody is chanting his name and the guy goes out there as possibly the best wrestler in the world and a great character and a great performer, why not? You need something different to replace the one that’s on top as we saw when they were trying to replace Hulk Hogan for so many years until Bret Hart stepped up. I think he can be the face of the company if they so desired.”

On the rise and the falls being a test from within: “If you are a conspiracy theorist, you would think that. All I know is from my experiences and if you look how I came into the WWE in 1999, it was the biggest thing in a long, long time. You look at the timeline of that, two or three weeks later, I was losing to Stevie Richards on Sunday Night Heat. There is always a growing process and if you remember the famous title match I had with Triple H where I beat him for the title back in 2000 and then was forced to give it up a few minutes later and what people forget about that is at the end of the show, I got pinned by Hunter in a six man tag team match, clean, 1-2-3. You always wonder that sometimes they do the opposite of what you would expect to happen as far as the way you would book things.”

“I think that there is kind of a test, can this guy get over? Can he sink or swim? What’s going to happen if we pull a swerve on him? Will he have a bad attitude? Will he stop working hard? You never know. My response to that is all you can do is the best you can do with whatever situation you are given. If you get too far with it, you got to make a stand and say something. Before I won the title that time at State College, Pennsylvania against Triple H, I was on my way to Vince’s (McMahon) office; it was like the movie Slap Shot: ‘Who owns the Chiefs? Pay me or I will leave’ sort of thing. I’m done! I lost to Viscera. I lost to the Godfather and this was a waste of my time. I’m done. The writer at that time was Tommy Blacha at the time and he said: ‘Listen, before you go to Vince, I have to say something.’ I said: ‘There is nothing you can say that’s going to change my mind.’ He said: ‘You’re going to win the World Title tonight.’ And that changed my mind. You just got to hold on and Eddie Guererro’s told me that his dad used to say: ‘The cream will always rise to the top. If you can wrestle, you will always have a job and you will get to the top.’ I still believe that. Whatever kind of politics or dipsy doodles may happen, all you got to do is keep performing to the best of your ability and sooner or later you are going to get that shot.”

On the possibility of Shawn Michaels returning to the ring: “Honestly knowing Shawn (Michaels), I don’t think so. That’s my opinion. He could but you look at the way he went out, in one of the greatest matches of all time at WrestleMania in the main event with this huge reception. The performer of Shawn Michaels caliber and his ego, and I say that in a good way because we all have egos, he is not going to come back for anything for less than that. I don’t think you are going to get anything bigger than that. Undertaker versus Shawn Michaels, in my opinion, were the two greatest matches ever. What can compare to that? My gut feeling says no, of course I don’t know but if you ask me, I’d say no.”

“The reason why Taker and Shawn worked is that you have two guys that are on the same exact level, iconic performers that no one can really touch. Maybe Shawn versus Triple H is something that maybe they would do but I don’t think that’s even big enough. I think that door is closed for Shawn and I think he is happy doing what he is doing and I think that’s the same for Steve Austin. I think he very satisfied with his career, I don’t think he feels the need to comeback. Sometimes it happens. As much as the wrestling fans demand it, sometimes if you feel that you did everything that you wanted to do and you’re happy, then why mess with it.”

On whether or not Big Show is hotter now than he has ever been in the past: “I only know from what I read in the reports. I haven’t had the chance to watch a lot of the shows because I have been busy on the road and I find with the Big Show has been around for so long and has performed at the highest level in some many different angles, in so many different personas, I think he is one of the most taken for granted performers in the history of the WWE. He can do anything, he can have a great match every single night but when he is motivated, he goes to a totally different level.”

“I think all you have to say to Show is that: ‘You are going to be involved in the main event storyline (Randy) Orton and Hunter and I think that’s all that Show needs to turn it up some more. I think that Show at eighty percent is better than eighty percent of the roster. But when he is motivated, there are not a lot of performers that can touch him. I think he is very underrated. I think he is taken for granted by the fans and by the company. If I was going to start my own wrestling company, Big Show would be in the top 5 easily, easily, and easily.”

Backstage News On Surprise Entrants Planned For The 2014 WWE Royal Rumble

Report: Billy Corgan Purchasing Ownership Of TNA Is A “Done Deal”

48

Brett Buchanan of the Alternative Nation website recently provided additional details on the possibility of Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan purchasing an ownership stake in TNA. Buchanan wrote the following this weekend:

“I have heard from a second hand source who is close to a key figure in the rumored TNA Wrestling sales discussions who has verified that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is far along in his talks to purchase the company. This source went as far to say that he believes it is a “done deal” that Corgan will buy TNA, though the source didn’t know what percentage Corgan will be purchasing or the specifics of the deal. The source also says that Corgan has recently made a connection to somebody very wealthy, though it is not known if this party would have anything to do with the deal.”

Speaking of Billy Corgan potentially buying TNA, former ECW original Lou D’Angeli, who is a longtime friend of Corgan’s, tweeted the following on Saturday evening:

Former AWA World Tag-Team Champion Doug Somers claimed during a recent Undisputed Wrestling Show interview that he plans to refile his lawsuit against WWE over alleged unpaid royalties he feels he is owed.

“I am refiling,” Somers said of the lawsuit. “He [Vince McMahon] is not going to get away with it. He bought my lawyer. To be that conquerer in any business or sport, you have to be a low-life son of a bitch, and he [Vince McMahon] is.”

During the interview, Somers also spoke about how he is suffering from amnesia and Parkinson’s Disease due to multiple concussions he suffered in the ring during his pro wrestling career.
